Hadley Castille introduces his granddaughter, Sarah Jayde Williams, for this impromptu private concert in Opelousas, La. Update: Mr. Castille passed away October 25, 2012. Our deepest sympathies to his family and friends.
Last i heard she was playing with his old band. Prolly unlikely theyll head all the way up to Colorado, but if they do i hope i hear about it. Id love to see 'em play.
Thank you, Rebecca McCormick, for posting this. I just happened upon this video a few minutes ago, and as I listened and watched... my heart and soul were lifted into a timelessness of beauty and great music. I've no doubt that Hadley Castille and his granddaughter, Sarah Jayde Williams, blessed many folks by sharing this.
This just tickled my soul!! Happiness of being with Grandpa is a wonderful thing!!! I LOVE the rhythm he kept with the cajun feet! Ha has more in his feet than some have in their pinkies! Lol thanks for making Me happy and giving a glimpse into your wonderful talent....dont ever stop!!
Dear sir, thank you for bringing your family to Pella Iowa years ago. It has been a wonderful memory and influence. I still cherish the CD. And reminded your grandson that he should not forget his roots when I met him at the Country Music Hall of Fame. May the Lord bless you more than he already has.
Brings me back... My grandfather played the accordion. My sister and I liked it so much we started to play too as kids, but my mom didn't really have the money to get us our instruments so my grandfather actually got us each one... Still love the instrument
Only took a few seconds for me to start tapping my feet with him. As a grandpa I can relate to his happiness just being with her and sharing something they both enjoy.
Two fiddles, feet going ticky tum and a large smile on both and a voice? Girl, the classical training has done your Cajun absolutely no harm, trust me. Along with music, it would seem you have inherited your Grand Fathers innate love of people. Congratulations on all fronts and merci beaucoup. Mike
Just happened across this post and I love it! I love going up in the Ozarks and have been unable to do so for several years because of my health. This music helped on a dreary day! Thank you.
It's been many a year since I was down in Cajun Country---going to Port Arthur as a matter of fact....and they had a couple of small AM stations that played this kind of music.....good thing I was on the highway or I'd have been picked up for violating some sort of "noise ordinance" as the law would say....(NO WAY is that music noise!!!)....the radio was blasting as long as the AM signal would let it....love it. My Dad was born in Crowley, so I'm part Cajun....and proud of it.
He was the man behind the French Emerson program I was in during elementary school. We are related just really far. He will be missed. I remember being a little kid and watching him play at my grandparents house. =[
This is one beautiful thing that French gave to us. That beautiful Cajun music. I LOVE IT!!! I'm certain French gave many other things too-just saying.
"Oui, ici, moi j`parle francais, Canada." C come un bon grand ver d`eau frette quan ce qui fais bin chaud, ca rafraichi, ca donne envie d`accompagner ou d`danser. Merci... I would also like to thank, Rebecca McCormick for posting this testament of genuine happiness somewhere in Louisiana, maybe New Orleans, thank you .
I love this even though it makes me a little teary. The fiddling is fantastic but all girls don't get this relationship. I did and, at 64, I watch this and remember it. A girl who has a father or grandfather like this grows up knowing her worth.
Gee, what a coincidence. I'd just picked up a CD by this gentleman a week ago. I'd never heard of him before, but when I saw 'Cajun Fiddling' on the cover, I snapped it up. And now this video pops up on my suggested videos list! Mr. Castille looks not unlike Rene Levesque in this.

I sat next to Sarah on the plane the other day coming back from L.A/Minneapolis to Winnipeg! How cool is that. Very nice people!(and clearly very talented!) So sorry you had to land in a blizzard. Hope you enjoyed the festival. It was nice meeting you!
