Kenny Roberts is arguably the greatest all-round motorcycle racer the world has ever seen. This DVD traces a career which saw Roberts take the American No.1 rider title two years in a row in 1973 and 1974 by winning a variety of events which made up a cross section of the sport in all its forms.
Awesome skills honed on the 100mph ovals of dirt track racing and in Formula 750 were then brilliantly applied to the 500cc World Championship, where Roberts stunned the sport by taking victory in his first season, 1978. Incredibly, he secured the World Championship again in 1979 and 1980, earning millions of fans and the well-deserved title King Kenny.
After proving himself a champion on all kinds of track, Roberts turned to the business side of racing, rapidly becoming one of the worlds most successful motorcycle team owners.
Alongside awesome racing footage from throughout a remarkable career, including unforgettable clashes with fellow legends like Barry Sheene, Eddie Lawson and Freddie Spencer, we hear from Roberts protégées Wayne Rainey and John Kocinski.
This detailed profile includes action-packed highlights of a remarkable career which had one common theme - winning!
Bonus Features:
Marlboro Team Roberts 1990 Season Action-packed highlights charting the teams victorious debut year, as Wayne Rainey dominated the 500cc World Championship and John Kocinski secure the 250cc World Championship in a nail-biting finale
Marlboro Team Roberts 1991 Season The dramatic story of the gripping championship battle as Wayne Rainey roared to another title, and John Kocinski graduated to 500cc Grand Prix racing We're on INSTAGRAM: bit.ly/2evtvsg

Imagine trying to run and bump with a broken back and ruptured spleen with oil on your gloves from a bad clutch seal and you still win a world championship. King Kenny indeed

I got his autograph in the horse stall/pit at the Louisville half mile in 75. That was always a Harley-dominated track. He's a genuine badass!

Back then he had to ride on three different motorcycle types to win the #1 Plate. In fact, AMA Grand National Championship consisted of 5 different racing disciplines: mile ovals, half miles, short tracks, TTs and road races.

The best rider of the 20th Century. No one can even imagine how fast he was because only he could do it. He showed the world how an American flat track style of sliding the wheels around worked on road racing tracks. It freaked out the European riders when he went over there and smoked them several times. They thought he was nuts, and maybe he was but he was the right kind of nut for this game.

@@frozenice61 The thing that sets kenny apart from the other great riders you listed was that he also excelled on dirt. Despite having to constantly ride under performing Yamahas against the Triumphs and Harleys of the day, he won and was head and shoulders better then the rest of the American dirt track riders.

KR was my hero before he ever came racing in Europe. I remember going to the Transatlantic Trophy and one year at Mallory Park it snowed on Easter Sunday. I always supported the Americans (that is very rare in my life). It was brilliant. As always the Brits were hoping for rain on the basis that the Americans never road raced in the wet. Big Lol, they we going round and the snow started, The Brits were coming into the pits with both legs down. The Americans however just seemed to go into dirt track mode. Seeing Kenny sideways around the long Gerards bend was absolutely superb.

That must have been amazing. I was born in 84 but grew up watching OnAnySunday pretty much every day of my childhood. Speedway is also awesome to watch. What do u think about that? Do u enjoy all that the flat oval has to offer? Looking forward to your opinion! Have a happy holiday season and if you are a veteran my hat is off to you sir or mam. Thank you for your service.

@@pabloperez4063 I know it's too late for him to come back but it would be nice if he was still racing. Anytime he raced against Sheene I always wanted Robert's to win, He never let me down. Sheene was good but he wasn,t great as Roberts was . It was a joy to watch him race. I don't watch Moto GP. I have no time for it.

"He'll take a couple of years to adapt to the European tracks", they said! Er, no, he went to all of those tracks and practiced both the 500 and a 250 so he could learn them quicker, and won three Titles in a row from the first year. And that's 'our' Kel Caruthers standing behind him at :18 seconds into the video...

Kenyy also helped witht he development of the Lectron ?Carbuartor.. I recently read that a Man sold his Motorcycle Dealership to have money to support a young Roberts Dirt Track racing..
