@@robinsoncet Since you went there, his government is protecting the people of eastern Ukraine who have been persecuted for their ethnicity and their language. They have been under the attack of literal Nazis, who have stolen, raped and murdered for the past 8 years. And my (United States) government participates in the corruption and the war that leads to more innocent death. I know western media likes to pretend like Putin woke up one day and decided to attack Ukraine, so I don't hold it against people that they are so misled on the nature of the conflict, but there is much more context and nuance than the western media gives.

I feel like this could have been a lot longer. Would have loved to hear more about Mayhem Nation/Athlete. For instance Rich is single-handedly pioneering the expansion of the “Sport” from an athletes perspective through multiple channels. Something like 30% of the games field across all divisions came from Mayhem Athlete. What is Rich’s ultimate goal in Mayhems growth and ultimately the growth of CrossFit. Stepping away from Teams will allow him to seriously take a leadership role on these fronts.

It always surprised me that they had the athletes swim in a lake that us locals won't even swim in unless we take a boat out to the middle of the lake and jump in there. I did skinny-dip in there with some friends when I was in college on a dare.... oops. The pool at Camp Randall isn't as fun, but it's better than swimming through toxic algae. STRANGE BUT GREAT GAMES FOR THE FANS ACROSS THE WORLD. Where are Laura and Ricky - your Rookies of the Year, and Spirit of the Games - at the press conference??? I'm old school, celebration should be about the athletes, not the Crossfit Leaders. Maybe two press conferences next time. One for the business leaders and one for the athletes. Overall I feel blessed to have watched HISTORY this year! Rich - the Rookies (With Matt on the sidelines) - Justin looking like the next 5-time champ - and the Greatest of ALL TIME Tia. HUGE notables: - Laura's come from behind to the podium - Emma's (17) The greatest rookie ever showing ever - coming from a dance background - Ricky's Courage - like him or not - amazing courage to face the heat of competition and social media - Tia being tripped up on 'unbroken single unders' gives the public a false sense of competition. - Jacqueline Dahlstrøm - are you kidding me, standing toe to toe on the heavy bag taking 2nd!!!!! - Roman's work ethic and Ricky's wild approach, and Justin's CF consistency - what a great race - Brooke Wells Return from injury - how can you not find that amazing - Kara smile returns to the games with no support from Nobul and Crossfit A TRUE CHAMPION!! - Last but not least is the fight in Haley Adams, games programming does not favor her build (Like Sam Briggs) but her fight and determination is so amazing to watch. The game's coverage was difficult to watch as a fan. (Been a fan since 2009) Seems as though there's a business marketing agenda behind the scene. Chase wouldn't stop talking about the core philosophy and methodology. At every event, he gave us a science lesson. Cool in some ways but it was a bit much. Then to remove that core philosophical balance of gymnastics, strength, skill, and endurance with the last three events was very strange. (Sam Briggs champion of 2013 would not have made the top 5 this year). There was so much talk about understanding the roots of CrossFit - yet the main root and foundation of CrossFit was fired (Dave Castro) and not mentioned or celebrated for his lifetime achievement to fitness. Maybe there is stuff behind the scene that we don't know as fans? But it doesn't SMELL RIGHT??? On the more positive side - I really liked the programming overall! Yes, I was very vocal as a fan in the live chat during event 3 and the lack of Swimming as its own event for points. However, I love the adaptation of many of the movements. Tons of fun to watch, and as a teacher and coach many of the movements and elements we can re-create without $5000 worth of gym equipment. I strongly believe that in order for CrossFit to become an international sport that has to be accessible and it achievable at a young age even if you're 1000 miles away from a CF gym. I felt this year went in the right direction! In the years past, there was a ton of emphasis on equipment that can only really be found at a really good gym. So Chase and the CF crew here is my takeaway as someone who will do his best to support the sport - Build your gymnastic and athletic skills 'including ropes, bar work, work on your hands, and parallel bars - even groundwork like sitting press to handstand - also coordination athletic movements - balance, rhythm, accuracy, breathing techniques, flexibility, throwing, etc.... be a great athlete. Try many things. - Build your body engine and movement in the elements - Be locally competitive in all engine competitions Running, Cycling, Swimming, Surfing, paddling, optical course competitions, trail riding and running, and open water events - carry sandbags with you, know how to live in the PAIN zone - Build your Sustained POWER (Muscles Matter but POWER PERVIELS). There are many muscular people in gyms but only a few POWERFUL people. This is where Tia, Rich, and Matt they have that 'THING" inside that makes them stronger than people who are stronger than them. They are powerful people!!! This is the most difficult element to teach. All of us athletes know people who seem to be stronger than everyone without trying as hard - they simply have power. Get strong to build mass, but work your power movements, explosion, your Chi, your Jedi force inside. (The look on Mal's face when she glanced over at Tia in her powerful movement of the handstand push-ups, was a great example when it counted. Tia had the sustained power in her core to blast through that tough movement.) GYMNASTIC&ATHLETIC + PURE BODY ENGINE + SUSTAINED&EXPLOSIVE POWER = TOP 5 So that's my note to CF. Thank you for the years of FAN Viewing.

@sogron007
@sogron007 Год назад
@@christophercowan1645 Actually not true, many of those athletes can compete in the individual portion of the games and place within the top 20. Example, the two women in the Adaptive competition( I don't know their names) placed in the top 15, in a swim portion compared against the individual categories. My buddy in the age group 45 to 49 took first place. I believe Jason could have easily placed within the top 12 or 15, in the individual. However he has no desire to compete in the individual group. Another example, the gentleman in a 65 plus category could have competed in a 35 to 40 category and place in the top ten. They need to honor all first place winners of all categories; they're not the sideshow. That mindset needs to change. My other issue with the games are you don't take your individual athletes and throwing in an exercise, cross jump ropes, that no one has never done before. There are too many people that can do that. You just made your top athletes look like trash on national TV, not a good move. That's like saying hey Michael Jordan before you shoot this free throw you have to kick a field goal- come on man. Second issue, poor judging some athletes took shortcuts through some of the movements that should have not been counted and sloppy form should not count too and this is coming from the individual category.

Bethany Shadburne). Also, when are we going to stop referring to the Open>QF>SF>Games as "The Season", and dismissing high level, lucrative and entertaining competitions like Rogue, Dubai and WZA as side shows? Surely for continued growth of the sport we need a fully-fledged season with numerous high profile elite competitions spread throughout the calendar year.

CrossFit is literally the most non-sensical athletic pursuit imaginable. Every activity is used out of context and specificity to the point of danger. Someone I knew horrifically snapped his arm by performing a CrossFit challenge- power cleans for 5 minutes straight. That is such a dumb task to perform and the trainer who issued it is inconceivably inept and should never be allowed to train clients

Someone I knew crashed his car while driving too fast. Therefore driving cars is non-sensical and should be avoided entirely. Also, there are more injuries from running than any other sport. No one should ever run. And millions of people die every year from infections contracted in hospitals, so no one should ever be treated at a hospital.

@timwannell6477 Год назад
My point is the way CrossFit utilise and incorporate exercises goes against their actual specific perhaps. Power cleans, as a movement, are designed to draw upon and develop power- its in the name. Not as a fatiguing exercise- it literally works against its purpose. Hence the fallacy and stupidity of crossfits approach
@timwannell6477
@timwannell6477 Год назад
Also, driving serves a purpose- to reach a destination. Performing a highly specific movement that comes with significant risk in a non-specific and novel way in order to induce or test fatigue is very ignorant considering the end aim is not congruent with the intended and designed of the movement ie a power clean to generate and draw upon power NOT endurance

Life brings about a lot of risks, your friend decided to take a risk and do a CHALLENGE, in reality it’s nobodies decision but his own to try it. So it’s his own fault for his arm breaking no?

@@timwannell6477 power cleans are a functional movement, therefore they produce a relatively high power output, just like push-ups, pull-ups, squats, presses, running, rowing, and jumping. There is nothing inherently dangerous about them, and CrossFit doesn't perform any of these specifically to "induce fatigue" but rather to improve work capacity, a.k.a. fitness. CrossFit also endorses building a foundation of technique before intensity. Maybe your friend's trainer was bad, maybe not, but like Jayden said, your friend CHOSE to do that workout. I've also done similar workouts to that, and never been injured. It's called "threshold training," and is used by pretty much anyone trying to improve a skill. You should look it up. Also, why are YOU the expert on what the "purpose" of power cleans is? A power clean is simply an efficient manner of lifting an object from the ground to your shoulder, and its purpose in training varies depending on your goals. Yes, a power clean can be used to "generate and draw upon power" but it can ALSO be used for developing stamina, endurance, speed, coordination, and balance. Nature does not distinguish between movements used to "generate power" and those used for conditioning, or flexibility, or raw strength. In the words of Greg Glassman, "Blur the lines between strength and conditioning, because nature has no such distinction." There may be an instance where you have to run fast, and once you're out of breath, you may HAVE to pick up a heavy object. What are you gonna do then? "Oh, I'm sorry, a power clean is not meant to be a fatigue-inducing exercise, so I shouldn've have to lift this heavy stone." CrossFit trains the way it does to be prepared for anything in life, and that includes lifting heavy weights and performing high skill movements under fatigue, and we teach beginner athletes to learn proper technique before we add intensity, both for safety and efficiency of movement. As for the "danger" inherent to CrossFit, I suggest you do your research. CF is no more dangerous than any other form of strength training, including bodybuilding, powerlifting, strongman, or weightlifting (and definitely less dangerous than running). Many if not most sporting organisations have introduced a vaariety of snctions on russian athletes because of putin's aggression in Ukraine. Every day innocent Ukrainians are dying but Crossfit as an organization has done nothing to be a part of a global effort to counteract russia as a terrorist state. Crossfit allows russian athletes such as Roman to participate in its biggest competition. Let alone the fact that Roman is an ex-doper!!! Shame on you Crossfit, its very disappointing and embarassing.
