To be honest tho, this feels more like a parody than a cover, there’s just no part of this that has the same soulful r&b feel as the original, maybe not precisely but in a general sense the reason people are laughing
Despite lacking some of the song's intended meaning, I liked this. They sang to the best of their ability and even though that counts, they forgot what the song was about. Not to mention the audience laughed because they don't know about the song. I would love to do this arrangement, sometime.
Confess that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart the God raised him from the dead, and you will be saved..you will receive the Holy Spirit Repent of your sins. ("Repent" is Latin. It means "To Turn Away." Turn away from your sins, refuse to go back to who you once were.) Be baptized. (Be completely submerged under water) And the Holy Spirit will gift you. Hell is real and is for ever. God loves you.
Great arrangement and great voices but damn - this sucked all the fucking life and soul out of this song and whitewashed it into into just another boppy tune sung by some pretty people. 'Bessings' was a bit better because I think you can get away with just good vibes but 'Same Drugs' was just a collection of in-tune bops which sounded great but lacked a lot of the heart which makes that such an awesome song. Ah and I'm so conflicted because it sounded legitimately fantastic. Just a few thoughts - keep it up dudes.
+Mikhail Stewart how could they appreciate it if they had likely never heard it before? They came for a performance by a preppy looking accapella group, the opening lines would definitely catch anyone off guard coming from these guys. Notice they didn't laugh after the opening.
