I wouldnt say he sold out but coloring book was so much less original and meaningful than acid rap, he went commercial which SOME would say is selling out, idk
Honestly at first, I didn't really know what to think of this guy. At first listen, i thought he was kinda wack but as i continued i learnt that I REALLY like this guy lol. his style has so much unique flavour and personality and it sounds like he's just having fun on the track which is what i don't hear much since rappers take themselves so seriously. Plus the song itself is lyrically pretty great and catchy even. I like Chance alot. He's just so different that it's charming in a way
Just commenting in hopes to get this back in the algorithm… honestly such a timeless gem here. Acid Rap will be in my top 5 albums ever made probably for the rest of time.
I remember not liking him at all initially but now he is up there with k.dot and Cole as my favorite artists . The More I listened to him the more I realized how special he is .
He was mainstream by the time this came out?? Or is your music video being played 5 times a morning on MTV for a year and a half considered underground now?
When I first heard this guy, I wasn't sure what to think of him but I have to say that i'm officially a fan of his. He has a very distinctive, unique style that I love.
the song is about chance finally earning some respect in the rap community for what he does, its a reference to a piece of work tupac did back in the day. He repeatedly refers to himself being the "new nigga" and "maybe i just gotta get suspended more, hashtaggie get mentions for it" he blew up when he got suspended for 10 days made a mixtape on acid and released it and he earned juice (respect) for it. Again listen with your mind not your ears, he also brings something new to the game. Respect to pac but he's dead, he isn't releasing anything but if he was he defiantly wouldn't have stayed the same. Most rappers don't stay the same but they change to keep up with the change in the genre.
Carter- you sound dumb bro. If jordan died we wouldn't have all these great players? Get out of here. Who's to say we wouldn't have LeBron, Kobe, Durant, ect
Okay, I am 47 years old. From the old school hip hop era. I hate the rap shit that I hear on the radio today. Somehow I saw this guys name on FB today and decide to check him out. I heard his name before but, I am 47 and don't give a dam. However, I decided to watch a rap video performance of his on SNL. I enjoyed the performance so I decided to youtube this cat. I watched this juice video and I have to say, this is absolutely something different in rap. I am digging this guy. Ok Mr. Chance the Rapper. Do you, boo!
Yeah but that's real! People are not open to shit that's different and unique. Closed minds limits the ability to understand talent and creativity! That's the problem. Real talk.!
I love chance because you can tell he's actually having fun when he's rapping, he's not trying to look hard or anything, he's just doing him and having a great time doing it
Chance and I live such different lives but Acid Rap made me feel like we were the same person. He had songs like these that perfectly reflected my mood at any given time.
