I’m dying for cinnamon!! I can’t believe with my love of chanel perfumes I’ve never smelled this! I guess growing up I stuck to the “women’s” now I’m older and I’ll wear a man’s scent if I want darn it!

Me too. My signature scent in the early '90's. I went from Obsession straight to Égoiste, I don't think many guys had collections like we do today, so this was my everyday scent in SoCal. From hot summers to cooler winters- everyday. I loved the scent but also because it was something that not everyone was wearing around me. It was very original for the time, you are right. I really enjoy today's version, and the slight difference I notice now is the screechy opening, like you said, it has a bite to it. But still wonderful today in the sea of designer and niche that is available. Thanks!

The opening is fine for me. Its just a bit more synthetic perhaps, like Allure… but both dry down wonderfully.

Awwww Egoiste.... "On your best behavior" mens scent.... that is my fond memory of it! The Cologne men wore at Company Christmas Parties or weddings or funerals! Thank you for reviewing this treasure!

You did a very interesting review on this perfume, different from what I have seen until now. You talked also for all of its sides, something I have not seen yet from most other reviewers.. Lately I tried egoiste from a store here in greece, which it's tester seems to be very yellowish, kind of an old batch and now think to get a full bottle too. Thank you Dacob, have a nice day!!

Dacob, I regret not watching you ofter in the past month right now. Your knowledge and passion for scents and their history is AMAZING!!! Thank you for all those nice infos and backgrounds. B) I love egoiste so much.. it's a very unique scent. To me there are scents like, this, or Le Male, or some other, that where very .. novell at that time for men. I have really much respect for scents that opened a genre. PS: Love the exhale-inhale trick, I found that out myself hahaha never thought anybody else does that! :D Cheers!!

I have loved Egioste since the 90's. I wish I could find this here in America 🇺🇸. After watching your review of the new Egioste I'll have to try it. I will let you know what I think of the new Egioste. Love you and your reviews. Keep up the good work. 😊😊

Chanel perfumes are addicting💯 Egoïste smells better on clothing than on my skin. I've never been to Paris but in my imagination I feel a small café on a rainy day smells like this fragrance. The name is accurate and it accurately describes the wearer. Now I wonder what does Boy layered with Egoïste platinum smells like🤔

Egoiste is my second favourite masculine perfume ever (Ungaro II is my holy grail). Egoiste is a Jacques Polge masterpiece. But I like the original batches a lot more. Less deep, fresher and no burned tobacco and no wet leather. The star of Egoiste was the amazing fresh cinnamon with the citrus opening. And the sandalwood with rose and carnation with ambrette was magic. But I'm still happy with my current bottle, it's a real Chanel. Do you think there is a hand of Christopher Sheldrake in the current Egoiste? Lovely review. 🌹

This Egoiste (I have the batch 8300 so it should be the same as the one you just opened).... I love it. To me its a soapy smoky sandalwood, that even goes powdery in moments.. Sure there are traces of leather, but its not a leather fragrance per se. I cant waiit to see how it "grows" in the bottle... I'm planning to get the Bois des illes, but since I also have Samsara i'll save it for the future... Since they're all supposedly "related" 😅

Samsara and Bois des Iles behave very differently on the skin so to me both perfumes are different enough to warrant a purchase each if you are into this type of ingredients and notes like sandalwood.

Hello guys! I live in Romania and i travel often in many countries in Europe, we can find Egoiste in any duty free in the airports. So, is not seems to be discontinued. Kind regards from Europe! 😊

Still have my spring '93 bottles, après rasage and edt with a little juice in them. About two weeks ago received a new bottle of edt...what a disappointment...reformulated to hell, it's so weak now it's almost blasphemy. Such a shame. And you can see it, it's no longer that light golden colour but much paler. Even the après rasage was darker compared to this new edt. I'll leave it mature for a few months, maybe that helps. Only pro is the atomiser. For those who don't know, there was non back in the day. Ow right, Platinum can be compared, not even mentioned in the same sentence. Besides that I personally don't like it, it's in no way similar to Égoïste. Greetings from Netherland

They basically have nothing in common. Platinum is a screechy metallic lavender perfume which in current formulations just does not work at all for me. It was ok in the first years of its inception in the nineties but current reformulations have not done platinum justice at all.

At this point, I'm fighting so hard to find this perfume. I smelled the Platinum Egoiste and I like it, but I just don't absolutely love it... It's different. I can't explain it.

The smokey note is provided by the coriander and tangerine combo. The current version is like 99% synthetic because these 2 ingredients are the only naturals in there. I have every single essential oil/ansolute listed in the note breakdown and they doesn’t resemble anything in Ègoïste. There is a red fruit/dark plum accord in the central accord that is so obvious to me. Still is a masterpiece in the current formulation and i love it. One of the best spring cloudy day fragrance. I thought i was the only one doing the thing you describe here 14:52, also if you put a little bit of water in the spot where you out your fragrance x hours before it also come back to life ( only top notes )

The current Egoiste edt 100ml bottle you mean? The bottle is glass. The lid is a metal/plastic mix.
