Hi - I'm struggling with this. I'm based in the UK and sell canvas prints (POD) of my original artwork but the bulk of my potential orders will come from the USA. I have my Printify account linked to my Etsy shop and have my products set up with a US print provider. That works great until I get an order for the UK. I tried the above method but there's no print provider here in the UK for the same product. I know they exist here but the options to select one are not showing. Any ideas on how to solve this or do I need a second Etsy shop set up for the UK market - thanks in advance - Paul

Your videos are so direct and have many crucial information. Thank you for your crystal clear explanation. I've learned so many things about POD from your videos. I have a question regarding the retail price of the shirt. Before changing the print provider, the retail price was $22.29 and after changing the provider, it became $29.50. But the customer has already paid $22.29, right? I'm confused. I would be very happy if you could clarify.

Hi, I used this and it worked beautifully. The shop is in the UK. The buyer was in the US. The question I have is this: After I submitted the new order on printify (to Monster Digital), would my buyer only be charged the cheaper cost? Does this happen automatically when I submit the order? Etsy shop is still showing the order with the original UK provider price with nearly $20 in shipping to the US. Will this ever change in my Etsy shop orders? Will this show as completed with the new pricing once it is posted to the buyer? If this is not automatic, what do I need to do? You didn't cover this in your video. Thank you in advance.

I have an etsy store and use printify. I received an order with multipe items from my store. Unfortunately, these items have different printers (print on demand). All items were put in one order. VAT was charged on one of the mugs. Finally, I couldn't just manually launch the order because it was telling me to print a shipping label as if I was shipping the items myself. Hi there. Thanks for your great videos. I’m in the process of setting up my store. Located in Australia and trying to get my head around how selling to customers in other countries works. This video has helped a lot. Thank you. But I was wondering - I came across an option on Printify for order routing. If you have this feature enabled, Printify states ‘we’ll even route to a different country or region as your customer, which can help save on shipping costs, custom duties and fulfillment times’. So, why you would choose to manually alter the order if it can be automatically done by Printify and how would price differences work if you chose to do that? As you said in your video, if you are manually changing the print provider, you can set up a specific price in your listing for another country eg Canada, but how would that work with order routing? Thanks!
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Год назад
Hi! You are correct, Printify order routing includes routing for international orders and they will automatically move fulfillment to a provider in the customer's country if one is available. I do not use Printify's order routing for two reasons currently: 1. Order routing enables two things at the same time - the international routing, but also order routing when a product is out of stock. There is no choice currently to only do the international routing. If you receive an order for a product variant that is out of stock, order routing will automatically fulfill the order with another provider that has the product in stock. I personally prefer to have control over which provider is fulfilling my orders. There are a few that I just don't want to fulfill my orders based on past experience or their quality scores, and automatic order routing does not give you control over this. 2. The same thing is true for international routing. Some products like t-shirts have more than one provider in several countries (for example Duplium, Print Geek, and Big Oven in Canada for t-shirts). Again, I prefer to choose which provider my order is routed to rather than let it be automatically routed to one of the providers. If Printify updates the automatic order routing to allow us to enable/disable specific providers, then I definitely would use it. But for now, I prefer to manually change the print provider when needed so I have control over where my orders go. If you're not concerned with that, then go for it! It definitely will save you time. However, when setting up your shipping profiles it will still be important to check the providers in countries where you intent to sell so that you are setting appropriate shipping prices for each country. I hope that helps!

Hi, found your videos extremely helpful. This one two. Just a question though. I'm UK, and if someone buys my product from USA, or wherever, yes I can manually look for a closer product provider for faster times and cheaper shipping, like you clearly describe here, but if the customer has already clicked to buy say from USA, won't they see the higher shipping costs and probably abandon order, before I even get to change it to a close provider? Do I really need to set up the same products for multiple countries to avoid this?

Plus when you first publish an item for sale on Etsy does that mean it is seen worldwide? Could someone get through the order only to see you are based in a different country and be put off?
@robincorey1
@robincorey1 4 месяца назад
What about the price section? I assume it doesn't matter since at this point the customer has already paid? For example let's say you typically put a 60% mark up on your listings , and after duplicating and replacing for a specific Canadian order as you're going through the of setting up that duplicated listing since I've changed the print provider it then shows default pricing at 40% profit margin.. do I need to worry about changing this? I'm also doing this just from my printify account. I haven't tried this yet from an actual order. Maybe that makes a difference? I hope this makes sense. Thank you

Omg thanks so much for this! I'm just about to start on this journey and it just did my head in to work this out! I'm based in Europe and I wasn't sure if Etsy will know that (or if that will be my audience) or if it's completely location free. So I've been trying to work out what fulfilment centre to use as I know the US ones are better. You can't really know where people will order from right?. So I guess the easiest way is just to go with the US and change if an order comes in from somewhere else? Or no? :/ thanks again! :)
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Год назад
Hi! You can control where your listings are visible to shoppers in your shipping profiles. I have a video about setting up your shipping profiles and this link should take you right to the part where I talk about international shipping settings: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fnhcxnzmnMg.html Basically if you remove a country from your shipping profiles, your listings will not display in the search results for shoppers in that country (as long as you don't have the option for "everywhere else" in your shipping profile). So if you want to sell in the US and Europe, you can set up your shipping profile with only those countries. If you're using Printify, you still can use the method that I showed in this video to edit individual orders so that they are fulfilled in the country that you would like, but you won't get any orders for other countries that are not listed in your shipping profiles so it makes it a little bit more predictable. And as far as which provider to create your listings with, I would suggest using providers located where you are expecting to do most of your business or where you want to do most of your business. Your shipping profile also will have an origin country and postal code in it (only one per listing), so if you set up your listings using print providers in the US, your Etsy listings will indicate they are coming from a US location, making them more appealing in the US market as far as delivery times go. If you use a provider in Europe, the listing will look like it's shipping from Europe even though you might have the order fulfilled in the US if the customer is in the US. Since you can only have one origin country per shipping profile and listing, your best option is to go with where you expect to do the most business (and/or where you plan to target any marketing efforts). Lastly, you could also duplicate your listings so that you have one with a US-based shipping profile and one with a Europe-based shipping profile for each product, so that customers in both areas have a listing that shows a reasonable delivery time and accurately reflects where it will be fulfilled. This is just an option - it can be fairly time consuming to manage, but if you really want to be competitive in multiple markets this is one way you can do it. I hope that helps!

@@PODinsights Thanks so much for this long response! You explained everything super well thanks :) I have been trying to decide for the past day it's super hard not having much experience with any of the markets but it might just have to be a touch and go game to see. I considered duplicating the shop but that would double up my expenses too if I understand it right which would be hard at the beginning I think. I also wanted to check what your thoughts are on Gelato? Do you have a good experience with it? I started with Printify as that's the one I got recommended first but I think I saw you use multiple providers too. Many thanks and keep up the good work :)
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Год назад
@@oORebiOo I do use Gelato for some international orders - they have some of the best international shipping rates and fulfillment in more countries than Printify, so sometimes I cancel an order on Printify and place it manually on Gelato for that reason. If you plan on selling across multiple markets and don't want the headache of trying to figure out where each order should be fulfilled, Gelato definitely makes that easier because they automatically route each order to the "best" print provider based on the customer's location. I don't have a huge sample of orders with Gelato to really rate the quality overall, but I've only had two issues with orders in the last year with them - one was a production delay and the other was a reprint due to a bad mug print - which happens occasionally on every platform. The only thing Gelato cannot solve for is Etsy's limitation for allowing only one shipping profile per listing, so you still will have the issue where each listing can only show one "origin country" and postal code, even though it's going to be fulfilled in the customer's country whenever possible. I believe Gelato's default shipping profiles will be set to your account billing country, but you can change it in your account settings. So unfortunately you still have that limitation as far as having to set one origin country for your shipping profiles, but on the back end, Gelato does make order fulfillment much more streamlined.

Hi! If the products are from different print providers, they will ship separately. But if the products are coming from the same print provider, they will package them together. Sometimes you pay the full shipping price for more than one product even if it's from the same print provider because the products have different base shipping prices, like a hoodie and a t-shirt.

Hi! I have my account set to manual order submission because I sell some personalized products that require editing the product in the order before it is submitted to production. I heard that Printify might be coming out with an option to hold only personalized orders and allow others to be submitted automatically so I'm excited for that! But I also like to edit the print provider for international orders so I'll probably either keep mine set to manual or go with the automatic in 24hrs option once they have that option to hold personalized orders.

And I use another company called Jondo when shipping to other places because they have fulfilment center's all over the world and it's a lot cheaper. However when I make the custom order for the UK customer and go and select the custom canvas it still says "Printed in United States by Jondo". I don't want to import the order and have it shipped from the US for a UK order. What do I do?
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Год назад
Hi! I'm not sure that I understand your question completely. If you manually place orders with Jondo for international customers, the actual shipping location won't be influenced by anything on Etsy. Your shipping profile on Etsy controls what is listed as the country of origin, so it's going to say the US if your shipping profile is set up for your US provider. So it will look like it's coming from the US to the customer, but in reality if you're placing the order with a provider that can print the order domestically it will not be an international shipment. Shipping profiles can only have one country of origin, so you have limited options with regard to how it is displayed on Etsy. I do have a separate video that walks through shipping profile setup based on different options for international selling if you'd like to check it out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EKR1RwJV-xQ.html

Do I need to change print provider if the shirt and size is out of stock? Do I need follow the step above as well?
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Год назад
Hi! Yes, I use this same process when a size or color is out of stock with my normal print provider, until they have it back in stock. The process is exactly the same, you just need to create a draft of the listing with another provider to use until that size/color is back in stock.

Is there anything I can do if some of the colours aren't available in certain countries, like list them as out of stock or something?
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Год назад
Hi! You can only turn on/off individual variants in the main listing variation section, which will impact the options available for all colors. Etsy doesn't currently give you the option to edit variations by country/destination.

Any idea what I do if I don’t have the “Edit Order” option? We have the Cancel Order and Duplicate, but not Edit Order. Is this because the orders been sent to the printer, even though it’s out of stock? Please help! This is our first sale and we want it to go right!
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Год назад
On your orders page, there is an order status indicator. If the order says "in production" then you cannot edit the order any longer. You would need to request cancellation and if it can be cancelled, you can then place a new order with your desired print provider. If it can't be cancelled, then it will have to be fulfilled by the provider it was submitted to.
@KetoFitChef
@KetoFitChef Год назад
@@PODinsights thank you. I was able to figure it out. I cancelled the order and since it was hung up before production I was able to. I then went in and changed my print provider and created a manual order. It has since been sent to production and was picked by the printer. Thanks for getting back to me.

@@PODinsights on a side note, I am currently using your SKU copy/paste method, but I’m seeing others hiding their listing on Printify, publishing to Etsy and adding title and tags before making the listing live. Do you have a video, or could you explain why you prefer your method? I have a lot of designs I need to put out and want the most efficient. Do you feel yours is more “streamline”? Is it more “idiot proof” than the other method? Or is it just a case of preference?

Is there a reason you don't use the order routing option if you were to have your orders fulfilled automatically? Thank you
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Год назад
Hi! This is totally up to personal preference, but I don't use the automatic routing because it enables both domestic order routing for out of stock products and the international order routing - there's no way to separate them. With the domestic order routing, there is no control over which print provider your orders are routed to (domestic) when a product is out of stock with your normal print provider. There are a few print providers in the US for products like t-shirts that I personally just don't want to use even if they have the same product at the same price, but with order routing there's no control over that. That's the primary reason why I don't use order routing - I'd love to use it if at some point they offer a feature where you can turn on international routing only and not domestic, or if they could give us the ability to exclude specific providers from the order routing.

Has this changed? Because now Printify has auto routing and it even says in their example that if a customer is based in Germany and the seller is in the U.S that it will route the order to the Closest print partner to the customer? Am I missing something? I am new to this and trying to get my head around it
@PODinsights
@PODinsights 2 месяца назад
Hi! You can still manually change the print provider for individual orders if you don't have order routing enabled on Printify. I cover the order routing feature here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XJkXISF3z-E.html There are reasons why you potentially may not want to use auto-routing which I've covered in other videos as well. The main reason for me personally is that you don't have control over which print provider the order is sent to. There are some print providers for products like t-shirts that I don't want to use, and auto-routing does not let you be selective about which provider the order is sent to. But if you're ok with that, you can enable it and worry less about manually updating orders.

I tried this method, and I encountered a problem with the customer because of the difference in the value of the invoice and taxes after changing the printing provider, and I had to return an amount so that he would not inform Etsy. Is there a solution to this problem
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Год назад
The customer would not be aware of how much your fulfillment cost is for the order, so I'm not fully understanding what issue you encountered. If changing the print provider would result in you losing money, then of course it's up to you as to whether you use the original provider or look for another. But if the cost is lower than expected, it would simply be additional profit for you.

Hi..What is the total profit on this order..shipping is 9$, cost is 9$....total cost of t shirt is 29$ ...so 11 dollars ? that's how it is?
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Год назад
Hi! If you are selling on Etsy, the profit for an order of $29 with an $18 total cost would be $7.80 because Etsy charges transaction and listing fees for each order. If you want to check the profit for different price points, an Etsy fee calculator can be helpful. I like to use this one: www.alura.io/resources/etsy-fee-calculator

Sounds like it's getting away from the passive income way of doing things if you have to check every day if you've had sales from different countries and then put in lots of work switching the printer option the way you describe. What happens if you get really successful and are getting multiples orders from customers around the world every day? Doesn't it become unworkable then? Sorry, not really understanding this.
@PODinsights

Hi there! There are two things to consider. First - if your goal is to be an international seller when you start your business, meaning your ambition is to truly get a regular/consistent volume of sales from many different countries rather than just one or a few, then I would recommend utilizing a print on demand platform that is better aligned to that mission - such as Gelato. They automatically place orders with a print provider based on geography so if your sales are constantly coming in from many different countries, it will not cause any issues for you on the fulfillment side of things as far as admin time. With Etsy, the majority of their order volume comes from the US. If your plan is to focus on the US only or the US and a couple additional countries like Canada, Australia, and the UK, then handling order fulfillment manually when you occasionally make sales outside the US is not a problem and this is my personal situation. The second thing to consider is that if your business achieves the kind of success that would not allow you to keep up with this - the same thing that applies to all businesses would apply here, and that is delegation. If your business reaches thousands of orders per month on a consistent basis, you likely would be looking to hire some virtual assistants to handle daily tasks of the business. Even with the automation that's available in the print on demand space, I don't believe it's reasonable to be a one-person operation if you reach that level of monthly sales and want to keep it going, unless maybe if all the volume is coming from one country but even then, you probably could use some help replying to customer messages, etc. due to the sheer volume. Take that for what it's worth, it's just my opinion.

@@PODinsights Thanks for taking the time to respond with such detail. It's a lot to take in when you're new to this method of online sales. I've only done a bit of Amazon FBA and self-publishing to date, but I'm looking to try something different where you don't need to fork out huge sums in stock or paying ghostwriters and this could work for me. I'll check out Gelato for sure.
