I want to point out a potential downside to this method that was shared with me: if your customer purchases a personalized AND non-personalized item in the same order, Printify will import the non-personalized one by itself and your order will be submitted to production if you have automatic order submission enabled. This could happen before you notice, unfortunately. So keep this in mind if you try out this method! You may want to keep automatic orders submission set to "in 24hrs" to give yourself a chance to check your orders each day.
@papije
@papije Год назад
Would that mean that only the non-personalized will be automatically submitted to production, but the personalized will stay "on hold"? If so, beside maybe that the customer will not receive the personalized and non-personalized item at the same time, I don't see a real downside...
@rribeirog

Great tutorial! Thank you so much! Just to clarify, you meant both orders will be submitted automatically right? The non-personalized and the personalized one. So we are back to manual regardless of this new option unless it's clearly specified to the visitor that they can't make both different requests in one order... :/

Thank you so much for this! The only other way I found besides setting it on manual order submissions, involves adding your product manually to Etsy, which includes having to enter every variant, color, size, prices, ect. that is normally done for you by Printify, plus creating an unpublished placeholder product in Printify.. So, a bit complex, more room for error, and very time consuming.. This way is much easier! I just have to remember to change the sku before publishing the personalized product to my Etsy Store. Thanks to Trent for coming up with the idea! You can thank him for bringing you a new subscriber too, me! 😊

Hi! I've watched some of your videos and they've been very helpful. I've been working on setting up my Etsy + Printify store and it takes a lot of tutorials to try to figure this out! A few questions on this video. So, if I understood correctly, you: 1) Created your listing on Printify FIRST 2) Then published that listing to your Etsy store 3) Then edited that listing in your Etsy store and changed the SKU number there?

Your videos are excellent (I always turn to them when I have questions). I had two questions on the personalization. First, if I offer shirts in S, M, L and Black, Grey, do I need to have my customized SKU different for each one? Or can it be the same customized SKU for each one? Second, if I offered a discount on Etsy for the product, do I need to manually change the price to what they paid when I'm making my new draft/their customized shirt in Printify? Hopefully my questions make sense!

Awesome. I actually figured that out on my own bc the manual submission was too hard for me and I’d forget to go in and submit them ( I’m a tbi survivor so I need less things to have to remember, not more….. ). I’d add though that you can just delete the sku and it be blank that’s easier than making another sku. Now my workflow is to publish from printify so I have the mock-ups etc, then delete the sku, I’m glad some other folks were able to figure this out as well bc to me the manual submission makes it not passive enough for me. 😂

I’m new to Etsy and am learning a lot from your videos. Thanks so much! I’m confused about what if anything I have to do if I list let’s say a white T shirt with black lettering and also make the shirt available in black with white lettering. If the original mock up in printify was black ink on white shirt, if a black shirt is ordered do I then have to go into Other Orders and edit the design for the black shirt with white lettering? Thanks!
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Год назад
Hi! Actually you can do that within one product listing right in the printify listing creation process. When you are in the design editor view if you select both black & white color options for the t-shirt, you can then select the blue box right below the color option that says "Make a specific design for [COLOR]". This will allow you to upload a different graphic onto that color only, so you can add your white text to the black shirt and black text to the white shirt. If you set it up this way on Printify then you won't have to worry about any manual processes and the correct print files will automatically come through on your orders. I hope that helps!

@PODinsights
@PODinsights Год назад
Hi! By group orders, can you tell me a little more about what you are looking to do? Your orders will come over to Printify according to how they are placed on Etsy, so if a customer orders several items from your shop in a single order, it will come over to Printify as one order. If you receive separate orders from several individuals who are part of a group, they will come over to Printify as separate orders. You could combine them on Printify, but only if they are all shipping to the same location. If you had something specific in mind for coordinating group orders, let me know!

I do not always send the personalized graphic to the customer before submitting the order. I usually only do it if what they requested does not fit perfectly so I had to make some adjustments and want to make sure they are ok with it. To show them the sample, I upload it to Printify and then download one of the mockups from the "preview" view and attach it to a message through Etsy. One thing you could do would be to add a mockup image with some instructions and also put in the description to please message you if they would like to see a sample before the order is fulfilled.

@PODinsights
@PODinsights Год назад
Hi! If you are using this method to prevent your personalized products from going to your regular orders page on Printify, then all the variations should be altered/deleted. The SKU is how Printify matches them up to your account, so if you leave some un-altered, orders for those variants will sync to your Printify account. I hope that helps!

@@PODinsights Hi Jeff, read your reply, I had the same question as Tina A. But am still confused if I need to delete the variants under the Inventory and Pricing section altogether(this doesn't seem the right way) or alter all the SKU #s under the Variations section on Etsy?
@julie5786
@julie5786 Год назад
Since you're changing the SKU, will you need to change it back to the original SKU after you change the name? How will Printify know which product to personalize?
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Год назад
Hi! Actually the reason we are changing the SKU for the personalized products is to intentionally avoid it syncing to your Printify account. To fulfill the order, you follow the steps in the video using your "Other Orders" tab in Printify to manually import each personalized order and submit it, so you do not change the SKU number on the Etsy listing. If your entire store is personalized products, then you would just use the "manual" order fulfillment option in your Printify account and not bother with this process because every order would need to be edited. I hope that helps!

Thank you so much. I just opened my shop and this means a lot to me. I have another question. So every time you get a personalized order, you have to duplicate, make a new copy with new design for each customer. Let’s say if we have 50 personalized orders, then you have to duplicate 50 copies, edit it and save as draft for 50 copies. Is that correct? I’m looking forward to hearing from you. Again Thank you so much.
@PODinsights
@PODinsights 8 месяцев назад
Hi! You can reuse the drafts that you have saved on Printify for future orders. If you get several orders at one time, then you would want to have separate drafts to personalize to make sure each order is fulfilled correctly, but once an order is shipped, it is safe to reuse the same draft to personalize a different order. How many drafts you need to actually keep in your Printify account will depend on your order volume, but you shouldn't have to keep creating new ones perpetually.

Very helpful video, But I have questions regarding listing with multiple type of products. For example I want to sell customized arts, so i want to give option to sell them either in Canvas, Framed Art or Poster, since these are 3 separate products in Printify, is it posible to apply same method as in the video?
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Год назад
Hi! You can create a combination listing by adding the product variants for each type of wall art into the same listing. However the shipping cost difference makes it tricky to include all the wall art types in one listing. You can only have one shipping profile per listing, so you can either do free shipping and build the cost into the products, or charge one shipping price for all products in the listing. Posters have a much lower shipping cost on Printify ($6.29) compared to framed posters ($12.39) - prices from provider Sensaria, so you won't be able to charge a price that makes sense for both in the same shipping profile. But in general, yes! You definitely can offer different products in the same listing.

Thank you. Does this apply if I want to sell matching mugs instead of a single one? If I change the sku number, can I add a second mug before it goes to production? Printify onky offer single mugs. Thank you for this information 😊
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Год назад
Hi! Yes, you can create a custom variation in your listing to indicate that it is a set of mugs and either delete or change the SKU so that orders go to the "Other Orders" page, then edit and import the order. You will be able to add the additional mug before submitting it to production. You will need to create your own variation so you can edit the name/description of it so it's clear to customers they are buying a set vs. just one.

@@PODinsights And will Printify just add those mugs to the order, and ship them all together? So a customer buys 2 mugs on etsy, say, for $20. We go into Printify Other Orders, add another mug - is Printify expecting us to pay for an additional mug at that same price ($20)? Or they don't care what you add to the order, and assume you know what you're doing? Lol. I guess I'm wondering what happens in Printify, when we add 1,2.3 more mugs (bundle an item) .

How does printify send the tracking info to Etsy if the items don’t line up? Would we need to manually enter it or something?
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Год назад
Hi! When an order goes to your "Other Orders" page on Printify, you then import the order and send it to production. Because you imported the order on Printify, it will automatically upload tracking to Etsy when the order is fulfilled.

So what if a customer made an order, paid, and wrote a note saying she wants all printings on the back of shirts only? I have the listings only in front on printify, is there a way to edit just for her? I don't think there's a way on printify. I might have to cancel her order and refund
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Год назад
Hi! As long as the order is not submitted on Printify yet, you can make those changes for the customer without cancelling the order. You just need to create the products as drafts in your Printify account and move the design to the back of the shirt. Then go into the order on your Printify orders page, and edit the order. Remove the front-design products and add the matching ones you created with the design on the back, and submit the order. I do not believe the cost will be different since it will still be printed on one side. I hope that helps!

Do you save the drafts, for each new personalisation or delete them once you fulfill? It seems like common sense to save every draft for each new personalization, but then you would end up with 100's leading on to1000's of look-alike products in the drafts folder (assuming the products are selling). No? Maybe I am misunderstanding, as I find the entire process between Etsy & Printify extremely confusing. Thank you for your video 😘

I wonder if customization on Printify is a problem because you aren’t dealing with a single vendor.
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Год назад
I do think that's a factor. Printify does not own the software that all their print providers use for their order management/production systems, they can only control programming for their platform that feeds order information out to the providers. I'm sure there are complexities behind the scenes when it comes to making sure the order data flows accurately to all providers. At the same time, anything that happens with an order before it gets submitted to a provider is theoretically within their control, so you would think they could give us some more options/flexibility on how the order workflow works before being sent to the provider.
@funnytoks3425
@funnytoks3425 Год назад
I've been using this method for a while but had to stop because of one major flaw that you didn't cover here. If a customer buys 2 items in the same order, one which is a regular item and synced to printify and the second is a personalized item with a sky that's not synced to printify here is what would happen: printify will treat the order as if it only contains 1 item, they will automatically fulfill the one non-personalized item and completely ignore the second one! It will NOT show up in your "other orders" tab! Unfortunately I had to learn this the hard way, I wish you covered in the video to be very very careful of this because I'm afraid a lot of your subscribers will only realize this after the buyer opens a case against your shop for missing items or leaves a negative review 😢
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Год назад
You are absolutely right! I will pin a comment on this video to try to call attention to it. If you check your orders once per day it could still work with the automatic "in 24hrs" fulfillment option because you might still catch it but I can definitely see how you can miss this happening if your orders are submitted to production immediately. Thank you for sharing!

Hey! So I'm just realizing this is an issue as well. I had a customer place an order for a bunch of various items in my shop, 2 were personalized items. Those 2 do not show up in Printify even under the "other orders" tab. But all the other items are there in Printify. I guess the only solution is to create the order myself for the personalized items in Printify? Not sure how to handle this.
