I recently had to have a locksmith out to my business to re-key 21 exterior and interior doors. They were all Schlage commercial brand. If they’ve got that little slot I’m going to be sick… Great video!

I thought this video was awesome!! I had no idea about being able to do that. Sadly though, I have very cheap locks. So first I must invest in more expensive locks throughout my home with the ability to do what you have shown us. That was REALLY NEAT!

Good video, but I'm surprised that he didn't reorient his front door lock to match the deadbolt. It's pretty simple, and it's gets rid of the annoyance of having to flip your key.

I have 5 kwikset exterior door locks. All have individual keys. Can I re-key all door locks to work with 1 key that I choose from my multitude of extra keys? Or do I need to buy the kwikset re- key package? I have the reset tool that came with each lock. Thanks.

I have these with dead bolt and regular for bottom. I haven’t programmed because I’m having an issue that I would like to resolve. Turn dead bolt left and it locks fine, but when I got to lock bottom key I have to turn it right which is strange. My tenant often leaves bottom unlocked unknowingly. I actually attempted to reverse thinking this was the issue but the cylinder can’t fit in any other way. If you understand do you have any tips so both dead bolt lock and bottom lever can both lock door when turned left. So strange. I spoke with cs and sent video and he wasn’t any help, it’s gotta be simple. Any help is appreciated. Just want both locks to turn same way to lock. Thanks.

Can I use any smart key? I need 6 keys, so if I buy 2 of these sets can I use the key set thing that came with the lock to set keys from this set?

FYI there is a hand held device specifically designed to take a picture of the inside of the key way and decode these types of locks. Im sure you will be safe for a few years but eventually you will want to disable mechanical keys and just go with smart locks.

Hello, how do we make two or more copies for the same lock? After rekeying a lock with the smartkey the first time the original does not work anymore.

I just moved into an apartment a week ago. But i almost just shot the maintenance men because i thought they were breaking in. They were changing my locks because they say it wasn't changed when i moved in. But i couldn't figure out how they just changed my locks without replacing the whole thing and he showed me a device. So of course i had to come to RU-vid to see what it is because now im worried if criminals can change the keys from the outside. I found a device like that a year ago and didn't know what it was but now i don't know if maintenance dropped it or some criminal was doing something with it.

What if you do not have old key?

If you don't have the original key you still have to go to a locksmith. And because it is a smartkey lock you can't get a new key using the key code.

so all you need is a shim (piece of red bull can should do the trick) at .025 to rekey that type of lock? To "any key" with bidding...LoL. Imagine coming home to have your home rekeyed by your neighbor as a practical joke after watching this video.

maybe you could keep the old key and use it if you want to change the keys again lol

You have not hit the lottery , you have just inherited a junk lock that fails constantly. I’m a locksmith and change these out all the time .

And criminals have struck the lottery if they want to burglarize your house. This is one of the easiest locks to break.

Lock cylinders are cheap and super easy to replace if you have an old key no need to call locksmith. If you lost your key this gadget won't help you anyway.

FYI multiple times you showed us the biting on the new keys. PLEASE buy another set and do not show people the bitting. Just sell the old set on ebay, don't throw it away.
