I was just about to start my clinical rotations 😭 . It was bittersweet because although I am more interested in the Foodservice route, i still would’ve liked the experience. ❣️
People aren't worried about hours, they're worried about being able to get into a hospital to do the hours. Hospitals aren't allowing anyone in except mandatory staff. Even the dieticians are working from home, so how can people expect to land a clinical internship inside a hospital? This is ridiculous. Reducing hours doesn't help the issue at hand at all..
I am currently in a dietetic internship and everything is remote. It sucks because we do not get the physical experience. I am a hands-on person and it is definitely a struggle. As of right now, no one has said anything about giving money back or reducing the price. Hopefully, things get better!!
I’m going to be starting my clinical DT practicum next week and from what our professor said, it’ll be a lot of zoom calls with RD’s, case studys, etc. I
This is crazy !! This makes me sad because internships won’t be the same :( I’m applying to DIs in a few months & I don’t know how to feel about this other than sad *sigh
I'm a senior CPD student going through this right now. The past few weeks have been tough transitioning our maternal and community rotations to all online material. I was set to start the clinical rotation full time for 7 weeks this summer, but now we are doing 4 weeks of online alternate activities. I'm definitely happy to be done sooner, but these case studies and alternate assignments are tedious and time consuming. I'd rather see actual people than work through a case study.
I started my clinical the end of March and thankfully the VA has allowed me to continue. Most dietitians are working from home (along with most of the medical center staff) but there are still two reporting on site. Unfortunately the only pt interaction is via phone, and admissions are down. It’s eerie how quiet the hallways are. But, I guess it’s better than doing case studies remotely, which most of my fellow interns are doing since a lot of hospitals aren’t allowing interns.
