Did the plugs on my 95 C1500 5.7L today, then went to do the cap and rotor but the rotor is fully stuck on there. Right pain in the ass while on your hands and knees in the engine bay trying to get that rotor out without damaging anything. Thanks for the video, I'll have another go at getting it out how you did it. Cheers mate.

Ya keep prying on it, Clean it off when you are done and apply a little grease on the stem

Thank you very much for indicating which post on the cap is number one . Did what you did plus I changed the wires. Five of the eight wires were burned through at the plug boots. Heat shields long gone on 1992 k2500 King cab. Hoping you can help with this one: running okay but would occasionally quit in full flight on a flat at about 45 mph. Had changed out battery last year and one of the ground wires was loose on the battery (now). Pulled the battery for a few days and trickle charged it, redid the wire. Decided to get fancy and did cap rotor and wires and was very appreciative of your solution with the stuck rotor which I also had. I know the wires and the firing order are good, but now the truck runs very rough like it's out of order and stalls in the driveway. Shaking so hard I'm afraid the exhaust will fall out the bottom. Not drivable. ODB1 way too expensive. Was wondering if the battery being out that long confused the computer? Going to borrow a light and check initial timing with the harness from the computer unplugged. Any other thoughts? The damn thing was running okay with five bad wires and now it runs for squat. Truck is strictly dump and Depot. 300 mi a year for the last 5 years. TIA and thanks again for the info about the cap. Ps -not stolen valor. This is my father's 10th mountain division uniform from WW2. He's still around. I borrowed it for a costume party and the women.

Check fuel pressure if its a TBI. If its below 10psi the pump is going out.

Yes it's TBI. too bad there's no inline Schrader. I guess I got monkey up some kind of testing rig. There's 2 to 1 block upstream from the tank. I can monkey up some kind of test rig, but do you happen to know if the pressure should be up on both of those lines? I assume one is to recirculate back to the tank. Just for shits and giggles I'm going to disconnect that harness that bypasses the computer and check the timing. I triple checked the firing order the wires and such. The harness is from the computer behind the dash look a little ragged. I just can't understand how something goes from basically running to a POS

@@jamestallmadge9515 They make a tap kit it can go inline by the fuel filter or the throttle bidy. I put it by the fuel filter so if it leaked I would not have a fire. Worked great.

The green and white cable at 3:43 on the distributor, can that be replaced ? I noticed mine was cracked

Yes, or you could have connected the wires wrong on your distributor

put it at the ballancer it will be TDC #1 or #6 So u need to pull out number 1 plug. Check if piston is up.. If it is.. good if its not turn it around 1 more time till timing mark is at zero. Then put in distributor and aim rotor at number 1

If it has spark doubt it. Check the fuel pressure. Maybe the fuel pump died Common.

I had more of grinding sound on another one when the star on the distributor came apart

This is what im tryin to fogure out, ive got a loud ticking sound. Not sure if its just the sound of it arcing inside, cuz the sound only happens just above idle, stops at above 1000 rpm

I'm having the same problem I literally replace my cap and rotor and it won't start now and I can get it to pump but then nothing happens and my cap and rotor with stuck on like that I had to literally wrench it Off

Ghetto Wagon well I looked at your vid but I don't see the piece I'm talking about it's under the rotor but above pickup coil there's a housing around that star that come off with 3 screws and it's under that housing

I know this is old, but why do you think this could be? The truck runs great at higher RPMs but wants to die at stop. This happens in park as well sometimes. 1992 GMC Sierra 350

check fuel pressure? Every time my TBI truck ever stalled out mutiple times now.. Was a fuel pump issue. Damn near pickup coil almost broke on it though. That would shut down the injectors.

Ok so ive just changed mine but forgot to mark them an my dumbass cant seem to figure out how to put them in correct order from spark plug to the rotator cap. Any help would be much appreciated.

There is a split in the shaft;you don't show how that split aligns according to the button. That's what I was looking for.

Try to put the rotor on, you will quickly realize it can only go on one way You don't need to show it you did not try it. You cant cram a round peg in square hole

Ghetto Wagon lol. it cracked in half but i didnt give a fuck. i had a hell of a lot of rust to sand on the shaft afterwards

Oh they said the miss was the transmission acting up? The caps and rotors wear out fast on these vehicles ion humid climates. The distributor star also cracks and in my case it moved up and down when it wanted to. I rebuild the distributor about a month ago and the high RPM surge/ Miss it had is 100% gone I have a video on that process

KUSHxVISION FILMS Its the same kind of vehicle? Throttle Body Injection Chevy engine? if it is. You may want to check the star (That's the rusty piece under the rotor in this video) You need to take the distributor out to change it

I had to BREAK my distributor rotor, the rotor shaft was extremely rusty, so the rotor was fused together. I applied some vaseline to the distributor shaft to make the installation of the new rotor easier.

Yea lot of times that happens. I put a brand new shaft in. put some light tacky oil on it and the star before installing like a year later has very little rust. I should of tried bar and chain oil. May hold up better. It spins real fast kinda like a chainsaw so... Maybe it will work. If it gets real rusty the shaft is probably going to fail, the star will crack, get loose like mine did and I had erratic RPM under load because the distributor pulled up and down when it wanted and f'd with the ignition timing.

@@GhettoWagon I have to go back and check my distributor again then. Because sometimes I get a little back fire, shuttering, or hesitation on taking off from a dead start, or when I try to get on the pedal. I had a lot of rust in my distributor too.

You never replace these, all they have is Reman junk, although Delphi makes a "new" distributor now, I wonder what is in it. Its normal for the Distributor to have up and down movement, It always had it, I thought about why it went away. I came to the conclusion that oil probably baked on the shaft again and caused the shaft to stick in the distributor housing. I forget if the distributor had this much CCW or CW play, in the past, Ill have to check it VS the other engine I have here with the same distributor, Which I Built out of new parts. I will wait until the engine blows up before I replace this example distributor. lol The Gear could be chewing up on the cam or the Distributor! The only old parts on this Distributor is the Shaft, Housing and the gear, All the electronics are new.

Didn't even know they made them. I know MSD had a billet distributor for these trucks, it fits Camaros and firebird too but its mad $$. I have a new housing and shaft, Ill just build it up. There is not much too these distributors.
