Side note on the shirt you're wearing... I don't know how long you've been playing, but I'm fairly new. Have you taken the BrainJo courses? If so, have you done a review on the courses??

I have Been Playing 3 finger style for 12 years and I'm starting my 3rd year playing clawhammer. Yes I have and am still using the Brainjo courses to learn to play clawhammer. I have not done a review on the course, But that is a awesome idea. I will try to get one up on my clawhammer youtube page after the first of the year. I cant recommend it enough for the clawhammer style!

Can you use the same method with a Scruggs tuner?

to be honest i have always used Cheata keys for d tuning. I have never really messed with the Scruggs or Keith tuners. But i would imagine that they should work the same. If im not mistaken they work just like regular tuners until you set the locks on them.
