Thanks you're the only one out of thousands who showed how a bad pulley looked while on car

I like that they made it possible to lock the tensioner while changing the belt. In regards to how the tensioner is mounted, there are a lot worse.

I had to figure out how to swap the tensioner on my '05 Saturn Vue while on a road trip - YT video was a huge help with the install. Hopefully this helps Mercedes owners and techs - keep up the great work!

Great video. Very informative. I changed all the pulleys on our 08 GL 450 since they were making noises. But now there is a pulsating humming noises when the car idle. I made sure the belt was the same length.

Thank you for the video. It helps a lot. For me wasn't possible to reach the bolt from behind. I just need thinner arm and couple joints more I guess. I reached the bolt from a side. Removed left tyre and then AC Compressor. It is attached to the block through 3 bolts. Then move it ahead, so opens a hole from aide. For better access removed the stabilizer from below. Also want to add the wrench number is 11 in my case.

Best video to date for W204 C250, my engine, I found. Thanks

Great video. You saved me the trouble of unlocking the mystery. My son went out and bought one of these pieces of crap. The W210 chassis was workable, Mercedes now made it difficult. They used to use a 3/8 ratchet to rotate tensioner, now a T60. Now they have two camshaft position sensors and two magnet solenoid adjusters, ridiculous. Only buy W210 and W208 chassis everyone. They are bulletproof.
@sranjesuper
@sranjesuper 3 года назад
You can't buy those cars forever, and w210 chassis had its own problems, especially the breaking suspension " spring " housings, which could cost 2000 per side to fix
@RUGQBIFF
@RUGQBIFF 3 года назад
@@sranjesuper I have owned W210 and W208 Mercedes for over 15 years and never had any chassis issues. Maybe the Mercedes gods have been shining down on me, LoL.
@sranjesuper
@sranjesuper 3 года назад
@@RUGQBIFF My dad's E320 2001 had to be sold because the front spring seats rusted out and body shop wanted 2K per side to do it. This is a problem you will only see in very high rust areas since they throw salt on the roads here. The W204 C Class is actualy a very good chassis. The engine is the problem and some electrical. But i would prefer to work on a W204 suspension, or chassis, rather than a w210 any day. Much easier to service and is very reliable and great handling.

Great video! Thanks for the info...working at home with jack stands and a jack holding up the car I was uncomfortable trying to get to the tensioner bolt from underneath the car. I was able to access the bolt to remove the tensioner by first removing the air filter and housing including the intake manifold.

@terrencesingh5108 2 года назад
Hi, I would also like to change my belt and tensioner . Like you I do not have a lift and would have to work from under using jack stands. How difficult was it to remove the manifold etc?
@fishongethenet
@fishongethenet 2 года назад
@@terrencesingh5108 Not too difficult at all. Lots of connectors attached to the manifold housing so be careful they break easily. There is also a single connector underneath the housing that you'll need to disconnect before pulling it out.

the one thing that isnt bad is that they squared off the body of the tensioner which makes it a little easier than a little locating tab

Had a bad clanking grinding noise at startup, thought it was my tensioner. But my mechanic just changed the belt and it was fine afterwards. Is there a certain noise when it goes bad? Btw, when I got my new belt, the engine seems a bit “raw”, not as smooth as before (08 Avalon). Plus my idle was waayyy too high when I drove out their garage but settled down after a few miles. Any thoughts? Thanks for the how tos!
@HowtoAutomotive

Tony Hong Fishing I’m not sure why the idle was high. Unless the battery was run down.

I’m not the one to hate on someone but bro that diagram you posted on the video is incorrect I used that as an example and my belt ripped a hole in my coolant pipe on my radiator from rubbing on it which sucks but I don’t wanna blame you for it but I found the original diagram for the car and I got the belt on but still have the coolant leak I think you should fix that and I can send you the picture of the original one for 2013 Mercedes c250 coupe
