CHANGING THE NAME 

Chris Goode is an entrepreneur in Kansas City who was willing to take on the task of changing the name of our most historic fountain, and a popularparkway - both named after JC Nichols. Nichols was a notorious racist, redlining our city in a way that still exists as a racial and socioeconomic divide to this day. I was privileged to journey with Chris through this process and film the Board of Parks and Rec decision to approve the change, and be there for the moment the signs and plaques came down. A moment like this won't change our systemic issues, but it is a powerful gesture that racism will not be tolerated in our city - and our most beloved places should be places where all are welcome.
This was a project commissioned by Lifted Spirits Distillery earlier this year. Filmed and edited by me.
