Seems like the oil filter is accessible from underneath, guess I will find out tomorrow. Just bought 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth. You are very funny!😀

Thank you so much!! I was just about to take my Abarth to a Jiffy Lube but now I’m just going to do it myself. Time to shrink down into a “noodle thin” man.

Did this last week. The video helped a lot! However, the skid plate on my used Fiat 500 was trimmed down so that it wouldn't need to be removed for the oil change. I might order a replacement skid plate so that the lack of one doesn't give me any trouble.

I liked all the smartassery. I have slightly smaller hands than you do. When I do an oil change on my 2012 Abarth I don't remove any part of the air intake or any sensors or vacuum lines. I've found that after unscrewing the filter cover (with exactly the same Rube Goldberg assembly of ratchet extensions that you use) I can work my hand blindly down into the depths of the engine and manage to accomplish a "no-look" maneuver of flipping over the filter cover (with filter still in it). Believe it or not there's enough space right above the filter fitting to do this. Now that the filter cover (with filter) is upside down I remove the filter from the cover. Then (still in the blind, totally operating by feel) I also remove the O-ring from the cap. Then I blindly re-install a new O-ring and a new filter, then I flip the whole assembly back upright and get it into the threading and re-torque the cover.

Impressive. I can barely pull it off looking right at it. Thanks for the comment, lots more smartassery to come!

I could probably do that. I used to do photo film development. I'm used to working in the dark. 😁

I’m always able to find what needs to go where in the dark.

I really, really enjoy these videos and generally find them to be very informative. I do have a couple of notes however. The first note is that after once forgetting the O-ring, yet feeling no obvious difference in rotational resistance, I now believe the oil canister resistance to be from the compression of the internal spring. The next time you have the filter out of the canister, put a finger inside of the canister and compress that nub in the middle. It is spring loaded and gives some resistance. The second note is that the 'W' on your oil does not stand for "weight" . The numbers denote the weight. The 'W' actually stands for Winter. Thank you for all of the great content. I have subscribed.

Just brought my abarth in to local shop for 1st oil change. Now I understand the $120 price tag. Fiat: "what if we put the oil filter directly in the center of the motor?"

I bought a Pella 3000, best thing I've bought in awhile. Suck oil out the dipstick. Recommend by Fiat. Works great..

Lots of people love doing it that way. Without the lift, I’d probably have one.

I'm too lazy to do this myself - fortunately I have a nearby garage that is owned by a Fiat freak - still haven't messed up my car🤟

Im going to be honest... that is the worst oil change routine I have ever seen, and easy oil changes are important to me. I remember my Jeep Cherokee with ac delete- Oil filter hanging out in the breeze, like 3" of clearance under the jeep to slide under with no jacks- THAT was nice. :-) Thanks for the vid

You hate to claim “worst” because there is probably something out there that beats it, but I can’t imagine how you could hide an oil filter worse than that. Thanks for watching!

Does abarth has any common problem? Can the engine takes some beating ?

No wonder Fiat's are all broke/braking. What an absolute faff. And so much to break if not careful. Well done!
