Chani Character Analysis ✨Dune Part 2 

I completely agree because if Chani was loyal to Paul it would overshadow the overall message Frank Herbert intended for his books which is how Messiahs and prophecies are dangerous since they can influence millions into being a tool for someone else's greed without their knowledge. Even Paul in some aspect is a tool of his own making since he is guided by revenge and the Bene Gesserit's influence via his mother and sister

I didn't read the book, but honestly, I liked that she left. For me, this story of messiah and everyone or at leat what it seems that every Fremen people started to believe in the prophecy and following Paul, felt so "strange" for lack of better word, I am pretty sure that at least someone wouldn't believe in all of this, that is something humans do. Some people definitely would be against Paul and this holy war. Perhaps in the next movie we will see more people/groups who doesn't believe in Paul being the messiah, but I feel that levels up if we have a character who we already know and who we know she has a personal relationship with Paul and feelings for him and vice verse, while both will be struggling with this prophecy thing which she doesn't believe (as we saw in all of the movie), plus the part that he asked someone else in marriage without him telling before all of that spectacle, so obviously that can not be easy to simply forget and forgive too. But seeing in the next movie, Chani eventually coming around, understanding the reasons behind of Paul decisions and accepting and supporting Paul for her people and her home and perhaps for her love for him, it would be awesome. I think it gives more layers to the character, instead of simply following him around and supporting him without questions, simply because she loves him and knows him on a personal level. Chani should make questions for his decisions, and she has every right to believe in whatever she wants and disagree with Paul, too, while still loving him.

I didnt mind the change too much, but she was my least favorite. In the book she is suppose to be an anchor for Paul because everybody sees him as the Mahdi. But she knew Him personnaly on a verry human level so that optic worked well for me. However here in the movie i just wonder why she wouldve dated paul in the first place? Plus in the book she's all in for the new green future of Arrakis. She was the daughter of Liet Kan the ecologist so she was all aboard the Oasis future. To me it felt a little forced, but i didnt mind it too much becausr everything else was just so good!

She whines and if something doesn't happen the way she wants, she flippes.

Funny how people perceive those changes. For me it almost ruined the (otherwise perfect) movie, because they took her depth and real strength (she overcame her biology and emotion in the book, almost the same way Paul had to) for a shallow flip-flopping (don't go to the Sout, go to the South but don't speak there, I love you but won't save you) rage quit (at the end even though Paul basically prepares her).
