Channel Update with R710 RAID card discussion 

Nesix1787 it is a custom home page yes. It’s called Heimdall and it’s a Docker container I run from my LXC that has Ubuntu in it. I have a video on how to setup the LXC but I don’t have a specific video on how to setup Heimdall. I’ll make an install video on how to spin up the container and setup the tabs. It’s pretty easy.

I guess it depends on your configuration. If you want to RAID them together then the H700 would work. But in mine, I wanted to have the IT mode, so I went with the special H200.

@@AllenSampsell thanks for the reply, I dont really want to use dell raid as I will be installing truenas and mirroring hard drives with it. So I guess the H200 will be better suited as long as they support 6tb hard drives ?

@@harjpanesar I think the H200 is a good card. I haven’t had any issues with mine. And I’ve got one in my Open Media Vault NAS with several 10TB drives. That’s not even running in a Dell server.

@@AllenSampsell I ve done some research including watching some of the videos from artofservers. It is a great channel to get a lot of information. So if somebody cares how I went up for my setup. The h200 can be bought pre flashed in hba mode so it is a perfect solution for zfs. If you have the h700 pre-installed which is a true raid card, which can't be flashed, you can use the included SAS cable for connecting to the backplane. If you want to use the smallest of the sas cards available for r410 you need a different cable! I think other hba s should also work but I havent testet it out. My problem with windows vm can't see any storage device while installation in proxmox is gone. The solution is a proxmox driver disk which you can load up during the installation. After that the virto device can be seen and used for the Installation. And some extra information when you plan to install a front bezel to your r410 be carefull many auctions on eBay tell you that the bezels are compatible with r410 but they aren't sometimes. Also take a look if you have a display on the frontside of the server, the bezel has to have a cut out for this! If not it will not fit until you make a cut out. Moreover there could be a little plastic part for a diagnose led from the front which is connected over the plastic part to make the led visible while the front bezel is installed, could be on R620. On the r410 you don't have this led so you can remove this plastic piece. This can be done with out damage! Greets
