There aren’t many experiences quite like Chants of Sennaar. It offers linguistic gameplay that is simple to understand but can be complex to truly solve. Its messages about communication and understanding are simple but completely universal in today's world. From the aesthetics to the satisfying and engaging gameplay, it’s easy to get wonderfully lost in Chants of Sennaar.

I think the only thing that could have improved the experience was some option for reorganizing the glyphs. Not having the numbers in numerical order or be able to group pronouns or places or verbs kind of bugged me but I still had a blast playing this!

tried the demo, got me the full game on release date and freakin loved it. What I also loved was the "optional" quest, where you basicly have to play translator so the different groups can communicate with each other and there you notice also more subtle differences. For example the first group not having plurals and instead repeating the word. So instead of Warriors, they say warrior warrior. Would love to see this kind of game mechanic used for real language if possible. and sorry for the small rant, but having seen at least six "video games are not fun anymore" videos this year, I can only say, screw tripple A, games like this are what we need more of. smart and creative, not hyper realsitic and open worldish

I did exactly the same thing. I played the demo for about ten minutes and just went right ahead and bought the game. It's been a brilliant experience. I love games like this, games that expand the medium and experiment with clever game play mechanics. You're right about AAA games, they just trot out the same tired game types and never take a risk. If you haven't tried them already I recommend The Witness and Outer Wilds, the latter being an absolute masterpiece.

Since you played the whole thing can I ask what Exile itself was? I think it was some sort of rouge AI but who created it and why?? I don't understand the complete story exactly :(

@@dinojack5567 its a while since I played it but if I remember it correctly, the people at the top level of the tower created the AI Exile, to protect themselve from the other folks comming to the temple, but yeah, the AI has gone kinda rouge and over did it, with the "protecting" by basicly trapping everyone on the top level in a virtual reality.

Even a lot of the big games were good this year. Many of the RU-vidrs making those videos tend to rant about Halo, COD, Battlefield and most Ubisoft games. There was one where a guy briefly showed his Steam library for a joke about how there's too much to play (choice paralysis) ... and it's like he stopped buying anything new after 2014 besides remasters. It's like peaking in high school except just for your love of video-games I suppose.

Same here. Got the demo first then decided to buy full game after just 10 minutes deciphering 5 words.

I wasn't very interested in this game first, but when I tried the demo of this game on PS, I was really interested. Although I will play it on PC. This needs keyboard for convenience.

Yeah, play this on console is clunky like it was for sure made as a click and point game.... I still am having fun. Haven't beet it yet but I'm going too

Im having zero issues playing on my Nintendo switch. You don’t need to type that much. Works just fine 😊

One thing I don't like about the game is the lack of instruction for the controls. I wasted a ton of time in the abbey because I didn't know that I needed to press x with the L3 stick (playing on PS5) to get some puzzle pieces to move. I initially thought those pieces were immovable. And the stealth sections were also tricky because I couldn't get the little "future position" outline to appear on time. I also wasn't found of traversing a bunch of empty sections to get to different puzzles.
