A very chaotic regional final to say the least...
Here is how it went:
Practice: P1
Race 1: 2nd to last⬆️3rd
Race 2:Last⬆️1st
Practice was very short, I only got about 3 proper laps in. Also fuel spilled all over my leg 👍
Race 1: started at the back got to the front very quickly with some divebombs on the brakes. was challenging for 1st but a mistake on my part meant 3rd could sneak through. I could not find a way past with so little time left and ended up in 3rd
Race 2: I was annoyed even before I got into the kart. This is because as a team we were meant to have an average starting position of 6.5. BUT we had some pretty awful positions so far and so I should have started somewhere near the front, BUT I ended up starting last 👍. So I charged through the pack and found myself in P1 before the first lap even finished 😳. A red flag was brought out as there was a big crash at the 2nd floor corner. I managed to get a healthy lead off the restart but I realised pretty quickly that my front left wheel was wobbling about like crazy! This made the kart extremely shaky and was not a very nice experience.
In the end my team finished 5th even though we knew we had the pace to challenge for the podium. And our other team finished 8th due to being taken out a few times 😤
Thanks Mr Sands for helping organise all of the teams together and taking us up there. Next year we are hoping for lots more people and so, a bigger chance of getting to national finals..
