Yeah I found him during the pandemic. He’s such a real chef with an invaluable knowledge of food and food culture. You’re not going to find many RU-vid cooks with such REAL knowledge and experience in the industry. I’ve never seen someone cook with so much love
My condolences to the family of this man! So sad for the loss of Daddy jack. I have been a fan for years. Please keep all videos going. People can learn alot from a person most of us have never met!!! I know I have.
Wow, the comments just killed me. I had no idea this man left us. So sad. Such a loving and caring man, my heart goes out to his family and countless friends. Tears, prayers and blessings.
I have been watching this guy for years, even had the chance to visit and enjoy the food. He is one of the few TV chefs that actually gives thanks to his staff and assistants. This would be the perfect guy to learn from when you are interested in real cooking as a profession.
I was a big fan of jacks, and discovered his videos and loved how this man loved what he did so much. It showed in the manner of how he cooked, spoke to his customers and in every one of his mannerisms. He was a much, much loved figure by all of his fans. When i learned that he had passed, i had difficulty watching any of his video's, it was a tough time for many of us. Only recently have i returned to enjoy all of his many talents, and revisiting the many video's he left behind, theres a line in a song i know that sums it up for me. Suddenly, you were gone, from all the lives you left your mark upon. Bon voyage, daddy jack.
Be nice to your butcher is good advice, most people these days look at the selection in the case and don't even know to ask for what they don't see. My Mom taught me to always ask and I can always find what I need. Love your style !
I learn useful tricks from chefs like this. It makes cooking fun when the prep work clips along. It keeps me primed for making the best tasting food possible! Thanks, Jack!
I watch quite a bit of cooking videos and this guy’s are great in comparison. He gets to the cooking right away, and is very straight forward with the recipe while giving some helpful tips for your knife work. Plus all of his recipes are ones I would actually make at home. Bravo 👏. Keep them coming.
What an outstanding old school teacher , Chef. It's amazing how much you can learn from this man. He knows all the tricks all the short cuts that makes the difference.
Dang man, I have been watching one after another after another videos of yours and could watch them all day. YOU are THE BEST on RU-vid! I love it. I have learned so much from you Mr. Chaplin! You teach such great techniques that I had no way of learning before your videos. I can't wait to try a few of them. If I ever get up north I hope I can come by your Daddy Jacks and dine with you. I love how natural cooking is to you. You look so at home there and I would burn the heck out of everything cooking it over fire like that...lol I love how you just know how long its been cooking and how long it can go. That takes years and years. I hate the thought of eating "fancy food" from 5 star restaurants I cringe, but I would love to eat your food. This is the kind of everyday GREAT food that common people would love. Let me get back to watching your videos. THANK YOU for taking time out of your day to make all these videos for fans like me! You ARE the man! Curtis Collins
We miss you, Jack. At first I thought you said "crackpot weather" instead of "Crockpot weather", but I replayed it. Apparently it's always crackpot weather. Crackpots are everywhere.
i have watched so many of these, getting complacent on the like button. Thanks so much, Jack. Love all the content, please tell us some of your favorite blues artists!
@@chaplinsrestaurant i was born and raised in a town called New Iberia. Its right next to Avery Island...you know where Tabasco is made and the best boudin in the world lol. Im gonna come up and see you...i will tell them Cajun Man is here to see you.
Discovered this channel now man what a gem RIP. love how down to earth is. Feel like a lot of people would be like they got the short ribs from some local butcher or somewhere secret but he’s just like “it’s from Stop and Shop”. Keeping it real!

I love your food...I been in the food business since 1978 and I love your cooking the most.
If you slow the video down there's also a trick with cutting the onions. His first slices aren't all the way through the onion, while it's still a complete ball. And *then* he cuts it in half.
I desperately needed something different lately and this was it!!! This was fricken awesome!!! I'm stuffed to the gills! Thanks Daddy Jack! Your amazing! Wish I could afford to come visit you but I live in Florida on a very low budget. Keep up the great work. I'm definetly recommending you to all my friends and family up north!
Daddy Jack, I am addicted to these videos! I have watched many of them, and wrote down some notes to try for myself. I love the way he handles a knife. I love how he cuts up that onion. Fantastic videos, have to drive up there to New London and visit some day. Gardis in Norwalk, CT
Hey Jack, you're the best chef on the internet, been watching you since the homeless Harry days. I love your passion, it's rubbed off on me...Thanks buddy.
In sad to announce that Daddy Jack passed away on May 11, 2021. These videos he left behind are but a small part of his 62 year legacy. His restaurant Chaplin's, is located on 165 Bank Street in New London. From what I understand they are currently only serving Pizza.
Great videos. Great cooking. I should be in West Hartford this summer (from Florida). Told the wife about you and the food you cook. We will definitely try to fit in a stop and enjoy your food. Keep the videos coming. Thanks
Daddy Jack ~ you're my all-time comfort, go-to man! Out of all the cooking vids, you're the guy who tells me, "it's easy, you can do it" - and I do! I love your style, the no-nonsense way you bring all your dishes together. I think of you while I'm at the stove every day. ♡ Thank you and God bless you. (Fond rhymes with Pond: There is water in the pond....Brown bits at the pan's bottom is Fond) FOND POND ((to rhyme a word makes it easy to remember!♡))
