The reason the D major scale works is because of what chords you said you were playing you were in A mixolydian which IS the D major scale and key. I’m sure Pete knows this and is being humble.
I remember when the Chapman guitars originally came out they “ALL” had American Seymour Duncan pickups and only cost around £400! They then decided to bring out a higher priced range and the standard guitars lost the American pickups for some generic Far Eastern ones but surprise surprise the price went UP! So what was a “good value” guitar became an average one at a semi premium price! The only sensible way to buy a Chapman guitar is used or when heavily discounted, otherwise whatever you pay be prepared to lose a lot of it when you try to sell or upgrade!
@@pentatonicpaddy Rob made a video, years ago, it was from like the factory in Korea or something, and he was saying how cool it was to own a guitar company and you find out all the things you want to do to a guitar, you think should be expensive actually isn't, it's all marketing BS. So Chapmans to me used to be about getting solid players, neck through construction , USA pickups, stainless frets etc at a decent price because they were essentially cutting out the middle man, they weren't a big corporation and they were taking away the artificial inflation other companies do when they increase prices for certain specs etc etc, ... but then it's all Asian pickups and "oh we might stop doing neck throughs because they're expensive" or "this looks like a hipshot bridge, but it's a copy" and "look out for nickel wire coming soon instead of stainless" like it's something to be excited about. It's a shame they seemed to have changed course and decided "actually now these are selling at these prices and we have a brand, if we start lowering the spec now we can sell for the same price people are accustomed too and pocket the difference for ourselves!".
@@pentatonicpaddy In his dreams! What started out as a “Guitarists guitar” great value at a great price became a vehicle to make ALL the guys concerned money£$€¥£$€¥£$€¥!
@@dubster82 I remember the video well and thought exactly the same! Did you noticed how all the “Boys” connected with Chapman Guitars started treating themselves to expensive equipment? It went from a venture to provide “Quality equipment to players at an affordable price” to a money making machine for the principals! Sad what money does to some!
Dude if you don’t like them don’t buy them. Most guitars lose value when bought new even Gibson and fender (unless limited or collectable) like dude this video is about Chapman if you don’t like it don’t watch. I own both an old Chapman and a new one and I must say the quality is still there even in the standard range. And just because a pickup isn’t American does not mean it’s bad. The fact of the matter is good quality guitars and components can be made pretty much anywhere now. You pay a premium for (American) but at the end of the day it’s just a name. Don’t like Chapman cool. But it’s a business and they exist to make money. It’s the way of the world my friend
@@jackbubb1306 Dont like the “rip-off” attitude! Replacing quality hardware and electrics with cheap generic stuff, tell us they are doing us a favour and put the price up! It’s all about the Benjamin’s and nothing else! If you put in cheaper components the manufacturing costs come down so you can reduce your price or increase your profit margins! Chapman clearly chose the latter....In fact, actually put prices up!
Mostly haven’t been a fan of the Chapmans due to that upside down headstock, but these sound incredible! Of course Lee and Pete make everything sound incredible.
there's a lot of reverse headstocks around, even Fenders have them, so it can't be that; the downright reason for the Chapman brand to trip was due to the KDH incident.
Thanks gents, always bringing us informative and entertaining videos! It's nice to see Chappers bringing us beautiful affordable guitars! Personally I'm not a fan of reversed headstock but still nice units.
It's been so great to see Cap's progression as a player, especially in the last couple of years. His increased confidence is apparent and that very brief opening jam had some of Lee's tastiest playing ever. Kudos Cap! Indeed, Pete's influence is clear as well, the MVP at Anderton's. :D That nutty Dane is just one of those guys that helps make everyone play "better". Who knew Leo could play so well.... :P
When first saw these, I was like meh, another shreddy McShred guitars, but Pete able demonstrate the other sides of those Duncans ❤️. Looovely sweet sound there.
Nice to see a production run with the Pegasus and Sentient! I've had them in my 7 string for years and they work wonders. Really versatile and underrated set in my opinion.
@@douglasgreen437 I checked their website and didn’t see a single FR on that line. Wilkinson standard trems, sure, but no ones doing dive bombs with those
@@clfurness - I'm not a Chapman player so I dont have a dog in the hunt so to say. But, they way these are set up, the amp is expecting the signal from the humbucker. You can tell that from the cruch attack on the first clean sound Pete plays. Sending a single coil without any type of boost and eq is gonna suck comparatively no matter what guitar it is. At the 13:00 mark they put some gain back in and it starts to improve. If the amp was set up for the split it could be made to sound good, then when you switched to humbucker mode it would muddy up. Nature of the beast.
Pete you made me giggle. First you said, "beeearl" in a Liverpool accent for no apparent reason. Then you said, "it looks like it's bookem-backed". We all know you meant bookmatched, but I was too busy rolling on the floor laughing to notice if you corrected yourself. I love you man Shit, home schooling is doing weird things to me.
Flushed with success about your decision to make lefty Purple CVs, I'm optimistically wondering if these might be available as a lefty? They look / sound awesome
I really like the Chapman guitars. Even though I've never played one, a faded blue ML-3 looks like it would feel phenomenal. I will get one someday even though I dislike the upside down headstock.
I have to apologize Chappell, and Andertons as well....but right now my save up $ is going towards a Majesty BFR at the moment....but after that my next guitar will be a chapman of some sort from andertons...even if shipping across the pond is a bit more then a local buy...it will be worth it!
Danish Pete is such a tasteful player... And its my thought that since him and Lee have been spending some time together Lee has improved on his playing tenfold. Such a dynamic duo!
@@life-x476 I’ve had two personally, an ML3 pro and a ghost fret and both were just poorly made (that or they have the worst quality control going) The frett work was the worst I’ve seen out of the box (heck even squire do a better job). Wiring on the ML3 was butchered. I can understand some guitars slip through QC which is exactly why I gave them a second shot (the mL3 pro) but that one turned out to be the worst. My old man’s a luthier and basically everyone that has come through his workshop has had issues Definitely not getting bitten a third time
I gotta admit I'm not a big fan of the burl thing with guitars but these are nice! I got an ML1 modern second hand n the previous owner swapped out the pups for the EMG Het set n damn they make the instrument a beauty.
I'd happily pay money to watch you blokes jam at a club or wherever. Intro jam had me wondering if there's a duo making music at the standard of a high level solo artist, that'd be pretty cool.
Pete I think the stainless steel fret thing is in your head. Just play a guitar with them for a while and you’ll feel normal on it. I did. I love them.
We don't have this backing track currently available but we do have a number of other volumes to choose from... Hope this helps: andertonstv.bandcamp.com/album/guitar-jam-tracks-vol-1
Realllllly want an ML3 - sold out everywhere seemingly happens every time I want a guitar, if anyone's selling one hit me up! Would get the ML1 but just don't like the shape at all
Alright, stop the presses!!! I was curious and just checked the prices for used Miku pedals and the cheapest one I could find, by a wide margin, was $400.00 US!!! All the others were $500 and above!! I reckon the Miku pedals might be on their way to legendary status!!!😳
JBE Two/ToneHB Pickup is Best Single Coil Spilt sound and tone Ever, just impossible to find as Stock is depleted and Company has not yet caught up to demand now back in production. Recommend you Do a Split Blind Test against the JBE Pickup and I Think It will surprise you when Dane, Rob, & Rabea all will choose the JBE as Best tone
Nice guitars and they sound pretty great - I'm not a fan of burled finishes so much though. Seymour Duncan? ...can't go wrong , really. The single coil tap sounds a little tele-like with a little gain.
