Hi im currently doing my courses and i wanted to ask what is the name of the Very first exam and what do you get tested about my teacher told us we have atleast 4 exams in the class What exam did you get first?
Umm, I don't know where you work, what state, but you're going to have to explain why your job allows you to give results, OVER the PHONE, no less, to a physician. That's lab tech and scientist's. Phlebs accessing that info is NOT a part of our job and is a HIPAA violation. The ONLY time I have EVER seen a pts results as part of my job was when I had to help a nurse figure out if the results included a differential.
It's allowed by HIPAA in certain states. External/Implied consent since most phlebs are lab techs. They develop cultures, serums/plasma, and perform a lot of tests under MLS supervision. Not every state.
@@genevieveadair2325 You misunderstand. A Clinical or Medical Lab Technician that performs phlebotomy as part of their duties for their specific employer is NOT a phlebotomist UNLESS they are also a Phlebotomist. Would you call an MD that performs phlebotomy a Phlebotomist? Or a Doctor. PHLEBOTOMISTS do NOT give report. Clinical Lab Techs and Scientists do. A Lab Tech that can a draw Blood is not acting as Phlebotomist when they give report. They are acting as a Lab Tech. If the have a lab tech job at one company and a Phlebotomist job at another, they can NOT give report at their Phlebotomy Job because that is out of the scope of practice for their Phlebotomy Job.
Agreed. I've already heard some incorrect info. This is the handbook I'll be teaching from, and so far, I'm hoping some of what has been spoken in this video isn't actually in that book.
