Thanks Dan Inosanto for promoting Filipino Martial Arts. You are one of the best, if not the best FMA martial artist in the world. What makes you great and so unique is that you incorporated the very deadly FMA style with Karate, Judo and Jet Kun Do of Bruce Lee. I wish you can expand your gym here in the Philippines for our children to learn these combination.

I trained and taught several martial arts for over 35 years and almost every time I was introduced to a concept that gave me reason to re-evaluate what I was doing and ask if there was a better way, a little digging lead me right back to Guro Dan Inosanto. "Reference points" are a great example: Whether you're practising grappling, trapping, joint locking or striking, there are positions that come up again and again. Those reference points offer effective start positions for practice and mental triggers for action to apply a technique or switch between strategies. When teaching, you can build drills around them, or you can go into a dojo, show them something completely alien, stop at a reference point and switch to their system and nomenclature, so you can have a class of Aikido students practising trapping and finishing every drill with nikajo, sankajo or kote-gaeshi.

@emp6410
@emp6410 3 года назад
Yes, I agree that Arnis is not dead here in the Philippines. But more than 2 decades ago, I can say it was, because old timer instructors still teaching their students secretly. If not because of Don Inosanto and the rest of many Filipino Martial Art (FMA) instructors abroad who teaches FMA openly in their respective gym, senator Migs Zubiri might not be able to pass a law making Arnis as our National Sports. Many thanks to all the FMA instructors abroad who modernized the Filipino Martial Arts and made it known all over the world!

The idea of studying an art is to be able to absorb what is useful to one's needs and one's individuality and still be able to to respect all forms art (fight styles). As human beings the moment we stop learning is when we die. RESPECT AND MAYBE THEM WE CAN START THE LEARNING PROCESS.

cuz u could hit lots of chicks learning foreign arts that's why..
@livinginthetruthministries7094
Japhet Planque.. This is the same for many South American/Caribbean martial arts there is esgrima (original spelling of eskrima) that was used to fight against invading countries like the France, England, Spain.. Many indigenous people and African slaves fought with the Spanish in the Spanish wars as well earning their freedom.. the same our martial arts dying unlike the Asian martial arts popularity, esgrima is unknown or not appreciated by the younger generations.. I agree to persevere its history..
@livinginthetruthministries7094
Universal Kombat, I've never said that it was created in South America/Caribbean you need to do your history on Filipino marial arts the term are in Spanish esgrima is Spanish for skirmish arnis is armor, as well as many terms used came from the Spanish the Filipinos adopted the esgrima system from the Spanish and combined it with their indigenous Martial Arts of Kali and many other styles that already there.. There are martial arts that are not exposed that are in the Caribbean and South America.. places like Colombia, Haiti, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Mexico and these are only the places that I know of not including other places in South America/Caribbean.. These are arts that are passed on by the freedom fighters in defense of the people that fought with or fought against Spanish and other Europeans with the use of machete...Puerto Rico group is the Macheteros that fought against the British using esgrima with Machete,.. Slaves in Haiti fought against the French using the Machete during the French revolution, .. Colombia Slaves earned their freedom fighting with the Spanish using Esgrima and settled in Buenos Aires Cauca.. I ask that you do your research before you jump to conclusions my friend..
@livinginthetruthministries7094
Universal Kombat,.. well there is a book called the Filipino Martial Culture by Mark Wiley that talks bout the Spanish Esgrima System being adopted into their Martial Arts Culture so that alone should give you a hint that Esgrima also was adopted by other countries wherever the Spanish went.. Besides I've seen these arts they are very similar to Filipino versions of Esgrima.. but I will be Honest the Filipino is more refined techniques than that I've seen in the Caribbeans but they are practically synonymous, just the terms and culture is different but the same struggle for liberation from the Spanish..
@livinginthetruthministries7094
Universal Kombat.. look let's agree to disagree Esgrima comes from Spain that is what I believe and it was modified in the Philippines but your entitled to believe otherwise just do your research for your own sake you don't have to convince me maybe you need to ask Dan Innosanto He'll be the first to tell you the truth on the subject just get the book written by him called "Filipino History" and the book "Filipino Martial Culture" by Mark Wiley.. the rest is up to you.. I do appreciate the conversation with you.. thank you for that.. be blessed my brother..

they said kali is dead in philippines because only few people knew this martial art and its not being teach in philippines even in gyms well they are wrong the reason why they dont teach kali and other FMA in philippines because its just very deadly and dangerous but very effective in both offense and defense thats why only those who are in special forces are allowed to train FMA but the sad truth is that only few filipinos knows their own martial art because they prefer TKD,KARATE,etc and they dont even have idea how rich their culture that they have their own martial art,most gyms in philippines are teaching tkd,karate kung fu you cant find a gym that teaches kali you need to go in some remote areas in philippines just to find a master,they dont know how special their martial art that it is being use to train special forces in other countries but kali is never dead in philippines its just its not being teach because they prefer westernized teaching for example in school they teach football which is not their own instead of kali which is part of their tradition that almost forgotten

Here in my province in philippines, there's a lot of martial artist we know most of them already gone but they never thought filipino martial arts to other people, they are very careful in choosing people they wanna teach. The person must be disciplined and have a good heart. Because they said it is deadly and dangerous to learn of irresponsible person. They hide it, that is why i switch to tae kwon do. And luckily we have a few self defense lesson not knowing that our instructor already teaching us a filipino martial art.

Its understandable. I'm not saying there aren't alot of assholes out there, and worst. But the majority are just average people. There is no way around it. With any organization that large, especially with an element of power involved, you will get power trippers, racists, dummies and occasionally murderers. But that same organization has an overwhelming majority of people that would risk their lives for people they have never met before, including me and you. lets agree not to stereotype them.

The vast majority of L.E. are good people that are willing to risk their lives to protect those that cant protect themselves. The majority of criminals they might use these techniques against are people you likely haven't interacted with and that's why you are so misguided. Yes, there are bad cops and yes some "criminals" aren't really evil but you cant possibly be so ignorant that you dont realize that the majority of the time someone trying to stab a cop is an actual bad person.

You must have recently got a speeding ticket and now your all pissed off at LEO.

Show me the evidence to prove me wrong then. We aren't living in the 70s or 80s here in America.

HUNT KING DO is more simpler then jkd. by the way dan not a good idea to teach stepping close rang knife techniques especially while standing still. knife techniques should be taught while the partner closes in do your part and quickly move away from his the knife. 10/12/2014

Bootlickers. I would have to test out a guro to see if he is worth my time as an aprentice. Full contact 3 minute spar, possibly followed by 5 minutes 3/4 speed full weight blows and 3/4 pressure locks. I will know in one minute who is more skilled. He has much experience in a couple of modernized arts. I'm all budo, military drill and traditional combat trained, 46 schools. Since i could Crawl startling with traditional western boxing/ no rules defence. Karate/ kimpo/ jujutsu/muay thai/dim mak/aikido/judo/ gongfu-sifuwong-chigong-taichi chin-na/animal forms and 8ways moving/ white eyebrow/ tibetan lion/ white crane deadly yang form/ secret venom family heir animal forms(6forms)/ ninpo/ budo taijutsu/ family heir restricted budo/ yagyu/ niten ichi/ aiki-jutsu kiaijutsu (7schools)/ goya ryu shadow boxing/ viking beserikir/ anatomica romana/ fencing 8 forms 4 def-4offensive/ pieced together vajramukti from shaolin north form diamond fist and kulari payut/ japanese pirate martial art otako ryu resurrected from octopus themed techniques in various 500+ year old ryuha both samurai-honin-shinobi in origin. I have absorbed entirely these arts and have not wasted my time adhering to philosophy of non-deadly arts that profess to make warriors. One question. Can I kill at least 10 attackers with this art? If no I die. Fuck bullshiddo! I will kill anyone at anytime i find approvable with my skill alone. Your philosophy will get you X'd and so will an overeager student with no formal training. Weak. If you are injured can you still fight? I can, have and will. I have used my teeth to bleed out a stronger attacker. This is necessary. You will not outlast me. Your students are but wallet padding and fodder. I would tear them apart in front of you and unbuild your egos temple. I am a force of nature; chaos incorruptible/ death incarnate. So, can you teach me anything?
