Howdy y’all, thanks for stopping by! (^^)/ Sorry for the lil’ gap between the first Genshin OC’s vid and this one! It’s been a helluva month sgdhfksfgh - but I’m really glad to finally be sharing the rest of these designs with y'all now! 🥳 (I’m also v much hoping to do another character-design-deep-dive like this sometime down the line, so please do go ahead and leave your suggestions for potential titles - or universes to explore! - below! ✨) (Also: Stay cozy! Beau is such a fruit, and I love him! I'd probably start playing genshin if he was real.

Beau is practically screaming to have the type of moveset that after defeating an enemy or doing a big flourishing attack. He makes some kind of comment like "And now to put a bow on it~" or however the saying usually goes. It's so incredibly fitting.

Imagine unfortunate weather man Lixin meeting Bennett, they'll be bringing about the apocalypse...

I absolutely adore how you can bring these ideas to life. I can imagine a Lixin 'When it rains' voiceline to be something like "Huh, it's raining again. Well, that is to be expected"

I heard a Cosplayer say that Genshin character's details get smaller as they get closer to the face, to help draw the attention that way. And Lixin is my BOY he's so cute!! I love him!! I love the idea of it raining wherever he goes like Juvia from Fairy Tail, so cool!!

My Genshin vision theories Anemo: those who have an ambition to make sure they or others are not burdened (freedom given but not enforced) Geo: those who have high integrity to their ambition and ridged in their determination (made a contract to themselves) Electro: those who have an ambition to live their desires/wish endlessly (to stretch a moment into eternity) Dendro : an ambition that means or requires seeking/creating something not yet accomplishable or known Hydro : those whose ambition means instilling their morals into the world Pyro : those whose ambition is based on their most intrensic desire Cryo : those whose ambition requires contradicting their own nature

I just love the idea that Lixin could have a passive that makes it so that when it rains he WILL get steuck by lightning BUT cant be affected by it. It would be useful for exploring places like inazuma and such!

If you ever redo Yuki, I think it would be really cool if you referenced both the Yokai she's based on and the fairy tale The Little Match Girl. I think it would fit because you mentioned she sold firewood.

There is a designer character that is supposed to release during Fontaine version, her name is Chiori and she's from Inazuma. And no, it's not a leak, she's mentioned in the game and there's a Chioriya Boutique in Court of Fontaine that belongs to her. She also made outfits for both Lyney and Lynette and for Kirara as well.

I think that the reason why the Cryo character feels the weakest is because she doesn't look Inazuman - she looks Snezhnayan. Pale hair colours are naturally more slavic, and the entire top portion of her design, bar the braided parts, are traditionally slavic with the hood, how it rests on her shoulders, and how the dress flows. From the sketch design before you said anything I thought "oh, Snezhnayan character!" before the reveal. Likely with a different headwear or different hair colour it'd feel a lot more Inazuman

I like the Umbrella character design. Imagine having an exploration passive that constantly enables rain in overworld. Cryo mains dream basically

I can just imagine a voice line for Beau being like, “let’s put a pin in this!”

On the topic of what each vision could be for, dendro does appear to be for wisdom or being in an academic space, the only one that doesn’t fully fit that is kirara but we don’t know to much about her, even Yao yao is a student.

one thing i have notices is that 99% of genshin characters have gold details on them, not just Sumeru ones. If you look at a character and your eyes try to rest somewhere that is simple and flat, you can be sure that theres no such spot on their designs, and every little crevice has some kind of button, pattern, or trimming, and a lot of times, it is gold.

Can I just say that Alex's voice is so calming? Like, it's perfect for watching on a lazy afternoon.

As someone who's both interested in the character designs and technical stuff of Genshin, I'm already picturing normal attacks, E. Skills, Bursts, and passive talents for all these characters. (Also I'm already slamming my non-existent credit card down for Lixin and Beau)

One thing I noticed in the designs in this video is that they are all very monochromatic. Genshin has monochromatic designs too, but I think they’re more subtle by adding black, white and other colors that separate the different areas in a way that’s easier on the eyes. I definitely recommend trying to add more black/white, brown or some metallic bits to future Genshin designs if you ever decide to do more! Overall the designs in this video are really cool, I loved Yuki ironically, she was my fave!

I think something that didn’t feel like good design was the hard stick to a single color spectrum. Especially your first two. They felt very one note and lacked versatility. In Yuki’s design maybe making all the rope parts a light brown would’ve broken up the blaring blue and white. Adding some pale greens and yellows as probably the color of the fur too. The second one just very blue. Like Neuvillette’s. Many Genshin characters have gold or silver accents in their outfits and going full “color of their vision” isn’t something commonly seen (like Childe, Wriothesley, Rosaria, Bennett, Kiara, etc). A lot of Genshin characters eyes or hair don’t even fit their element color like Fischl with Green or Kaveh with Red.

YOU CAN'T MAKE ME WANT TO DRAW FANART FOR GENSHIN CHARACTERS THAT DON'T EXIST I'M SOBBING RN. Oh my day's I've loved all the character designs that have been produced already, whether some may be considered weaker matters not, for they all make we want to write stories about them qwq.

Funny to mention that he didn't know if there was a fashion designer in Genshin, since Chiori is a character from Inazuma that lives in Fontaine, and is mentioned in a Kirara voice line about how she made her clothes, and other Fontaine characters mention her too, so she should appear in one of the next versions

Lixin and Beau seem to legitimately have that "Genshin Character Design" impression to them. Beau in the case, it would need to subdue a bit the green that is farther away from the face on the art just so it guides the eyes better to his beautiful smile, but overall they're looking solid! About Sai, I really like the idea, it seems the details lack a bit of standing out to really wrap his design up, its a lot of blue, and his hair could have been brown or golden blonde instead, it would bring more life to him. His overall backstory also indicate he could be an oddball that is hard to find, but is surprisingly outgoing and warm when you talk to him, so I smile would fit him better I feel, other than the sleepy, dreamy face. I agree the design got cluttered, so I guess you could instead have based yourself on the sailor military uniforms from older sailor japanese army or something.

So fun! Love thease. I think the main thing you’re missing is the Metal or Bronze/gold/silver that is ever present on every single Genshin character. Some less than others but most have it enough to be a notable accent. I’ve been meaning to do an extensive look with a spreadsheet or somthing for Genshin designs, but this is one I’ve noticed and have a hard time implementing myself XD

You absolutely nailed the “this is totally a character from Genshin, what do you mean?” I looked at the thumbnail and I was like “oh dang, there must be a new character I don’t know about, he cute.” Plus the preview sketch you posted in anticipation for this video, I was like “aw yeah we’re drawing more Genshin” sooo yea!! Great job as always! And really helpful to hear when you aren’t so happy with a piece also.. it’s really easy, as an artist, to compare yourself to others and just see the wins they do. But everyone struggles and everyone has a piece that didn’t turn out the way they wanted. Love your work!

I can totally see Sai's ultimate or talent being called Catch of The Day or that Lixin likes to hangout out on Seirai island because it storms there constantly

I love the designs! They are great, but to me they miss as character designs for Genshin Impact specifically and that's because there's a "spice" that I feel like has been missed in their design elements. Which is the fact that all the characters have one or two of the following: Gold or Silver accents Full credit to my very good friend who first brought this to my attention, this discussion is only because of the deep dive we had around the first genshin impact design video and the characters there so props to them! I think it might fix the issue with Yukis design to add a bit of gold or silver to the design, her colour palette is pretty monochrome and is honestly lovely to look at but the basket and the vision are the only things that give our eyes a break from the amount of blues and whites that are happening, so adding that touch of gold or silver may help with the idea that it doesn't look fully finished/that something doesn't sit quite right with it. Its the same with Sai too imo, I don't think theres too much design elements to it - although it could be that way, but Genshin designs are quite complicated in general so I think it fits more so than not - theres just so much blue its hard to know where I should be looking, it all sort of blends together with the only thing that isn't some sort of blue being the boat itself, so I think the adding of gold and silver could be worth it to sort of define things better and highlight parts of his character. Lixin and Beau are honestly lovely character designs, its hard to say what could be changed about them - Lixin does sort of have the gold/silver to them, I love this silly little weather man so much ngl its hard to say what I would do other than I think it feels oddly empty? Idk, but I like him I love Beaus character design as well but I think adding gold would elevate his design a lot too, like, idk i think he deserves gold smh Over all these character designs are cool as fuck and my comment is genuinely just a little like- thing, ig, but yeah! Love this!!

with Chiori now in the game, i can imagine Beau and Chiori being rivals

Character kitchen has a nice ring to it, and cute vibes, weird implications 'tho.

Anemo is actually characters working to achieve their freedom but having a dead loved one is strangely common and unwavering between them, literally all of them so far

I loved your designs especially the electro one! But here is a constructive note, I recommend you not to use a color palette that only accepts different shades of one color. That's why the two Reshwan designs felt wrong, at least to me. But you did quite well with the rest of your designs.

I love your art big inspiration, and I just want to thank you for being so entertaining that you help me want to motivate to do art more than anything. So thank you

there is one thing ive noticed in genshin designs, all the characters tend to have at least one contrasting color fit into there design like with shenhe's ropes and lynette's black suit

All of ABD's videos have a special way of making me want to fill a sketchbook with character designs, the perfect cure for art block

Navia uses an umbrella as a weapon tough, she comes out next version. Nice designs otherwise! I liked Yuki as snowy characters are usually my favorites, I think she could benefit from a few more accent colors however as genshin characters are generally very colorful.

I love Beau, but Lixin has to be my favorite ❤

I have to say, im kind of obsessed with Sai He truly screams "genshin character" to me in the way you decribed his personality and backstory! the idea of him being in the fishing organization is just TOO genius, i physically jumped up and down with excitement when you first said it! 😂❤

This is incredible!!! I love how you drew all these cuties and your talking about the ideas of what they could be if they were in game! The inazuma characters all seem interesting and especially the electro guy Lixin! He’s kinda like Bennett who has a kind of supernatural phenomena with how he almost gets caught in storms And the Beau is fantastic!!! I swear the idea of a fashion tailor is awesome! And I want to have him in my team please 😭❤ And wow! The theory/idea concept that came up in the video about how each vision wielder gets their vision is so interesting!! Now this makes me more interested in how to apply this on my own Genshin ocs!

I can see Yuki's vision story being that she wished so hard to stay with her new family, that the gods gave her a cryo vision so she wouldn't melt once spring came, thereby allowing her to grow up like most people. Hence the more adult form. Also, I can see Beau being a friendly competitor to Chiori, even going so far as to open up a shop in Inazuma to sell designs there. Imagine if he came up with Yuki and Sai's designs to accentuate their personalities. I also love the heels, as those were originally male fashion and not female fashion.

What a wonderful things to be able to watch while traveling around fontain! Super happy to see that your enjoying genshin so much! Edit: I am shocked how much we had a similar thought process for two designs ideas, I created a fontain Ian fashion designer character for genshin as well when I noticed there wasn’t one, but i instead took the electro tall male route and gave him more of a showman personality. It’s interesting how different the designs came out as a finished product, hopefully the possible fashion designer character will be a new male we can collect!

If Lixin was canon I'd be obsessed with him! He's so attractive and cool!!! And his story is so interesting!

for dendro visions I'm pretty sure theyre given out to people who seek knowledge outside of what's accepted as fact, which overlaps with how they end up becoming loved/respected members of thier communities. iirc Tighnari got his after correcting a professor and Baizhu is trying to find a cure for his terminal illness/find immortality.

I definitely think Lixin and Beau are my favorites out all these. They’re so pretty!!

this is exactly what i needed today. Been trying to design an OC for an assignment for weeks and this has just resurrected my motivation to astronomical levels. May the anemo archon bless you. All these designs are so lovely! Yuki's really nice, and I can see the backstory of her remaining with the human family past winter, and considering the myth she was based upon, there is the possibility that the snow children remain children due to existing during the winter, but as she continued to remain with humans past the season, Yuki eventually grew akin to a human due to no longer being bound to winter as a snow child. This is just a suggestion, of course. Your videos are all so lovely, and I really love watching them all so much! ❤❤❤

I think Beaus design fits genshin the most because its most colorful. The others were a bit too monochrome. I dont know if its true for all genshin characters, but I noticed that they usually have a mix of warm and cool colours in their design. Might help if you continue the series (which you definitely should!)

I love love love these designs, but i think the reason they aren’t very genshin-y is because genshin characters are never that monochromatic! If they stick to one bright color, then there usually tends to be a larger use of black, white, or brown! You have the fashion style and patterning pretty much down, but I think the colors are where you’re differing from actual genshin characters. I think this is also why Beau fits into genshin the best- You also don’t tend to see a whole lot of desaturated, greyed out colors- they’re usually very saturated, very bright, and very dark- there isn’t a whole lot of grey unless its smaller accessories or hair! I love love these designs, I just thought this might be helpful. Beautiful art as always too

Beau is an absolute peach and that includes in the fruity way ; ) I definitely see them having a voice like Double Trouble from She Ra, just absolutely dramatic fruity sass. The plum colour is a beautiful contrasting colour to the anemo teal, and hits the perfect balance for an accent colour of being clearly present across the design without overtaking the main aspects. I love Lixins more grey colour palette, it manages to fit perfectly with the more tidy and professional air of Liyue, while being a nice departure from Genshins typical more saturated, colourful designs. His more moody appearance also contrasts nicely with some of Liyues more high energy characters like Xinyan, Xiangling, and Yaoyao, helping to balance out the nations roster. The concepts behind Yuki and Sai are both really interesting, and their designs are well detailed, but I feel like the issue they both have is being to reliant on their elements base colour of blue. Cryo is actually a surprisingly colourful element when you look at the characters, and even the ones that have more of the light blue tend to have other colours as brighter accents, especially in the eyes or regional details. Hydro is much more reliant on the basic blue for it's characters but often balances that out with neutrals like beige, black, white, and grey tones, or bright contrasts like pinks, reds, and yellows. My main suggestion for Yuki would be to give her eyes a different colour along with some of her accents. You messed with the colours a bit and I think the salmon pink would work well with the icy blues while also bringing in some of the warmer colours that are more prevalent in Inazuma. For Sai I think just some pale yellows or beiges would work, maybe in his hair and some of his fishing gear, like his shorts and vest, to break up the design a bit and add some contrast. But all these designs are still well thought out and it's always easier to critic a complete design than to make one yourself. These are really beautiful characters, (especially for art block???? I can barely draw a person when art blocked), and I look forward to more of your character design videos in the future.

Yuki is still a very good design! The idea of the snow yokai as inspiration is really solid, but since most cryo characters are at odds with their heritage/ blessings as you said, maybe she doesn't know she's a youkai spirit or something like that. I think that with a more solid "backstory" she can feel different enough. Overall she is really cute!

I will say, other design characteristics I’ve noticed about most Genshin characters are that they have at least 2-3 distinct colors, I think usually bright or dark colors. Some characters may have a color that sticks heavily to a particular range but can be broken up with black, white or a mixed variation of original color Examples like: Raiden Shogun (Lots of purple, some purplish pink, dark red and gold accents) Lisa (Purple, white, fawn brown for her hair and green eyes) Kazuha (red, white and black, but Anemo vision provides a green blue contrast) Ayaka (variations of light to dark blues, has pink bow accents)

Idk if anyone said this or not but I head canon that if Beau was in the game he’d be Chiori’s mentor when she first arrived in Fontaine and even helped her open Chioriya Boutique. Maybe the outfits for the Fontaine characters she made where she included the ribbon of sorts was to pay homage to her mentor. (But that’s just me 😊)

As a Cosplayer I would hands down 100% cosplay Beau!! The design of a so beautiful!! If that man was in the game I’d pull for him 💕✨

DUDE YOU CALLED IT WITH BEAU!!! There's info in the game about a fashion designer called Chiori! They come from Inazuma and have their boutique in Fontaine and have designed everyone's clothes, their signature for their designs being bows!

Do you ever wanted to try and do a redesign of drawings that you have already made? You mentioned refinements for Yuki and I think it would be amazing to see you showing that it’s okay to go back to characters that you’ve already made. Your redesigns for old art was super fun and inspiring to watch so it only makes sense to show that even recent art can need a redesign or refinements! 😊

I feel like Beau would have a cutscene where it’s either a huge open ballroom or wherever his lil workshop is, but he would be dancing with one of his mannequins like that one boss in Fontaine, and while he’s dancing he’s putting fabric on the mannequin and just full on making an outfit, and once he’s done he just introduces himself to the traveller or something!

Gotta say, the way the finished pieces are showcased in this video and the last genshin character design video is my favourite, it always brings a big goofy smile to my face :D

I really enjoyed Lixin, this guy would be the only person to hang out with Bennet imo they both just have the worst weather all the time and Bennets friend Fishl would not mind a man who is followed by the storm which would add to her edginess. Beau is literally Rarity and I love it. His hairstyle is even reminiscent of that one episode where she loses her mane and goes punk at the end.

My favorite is Beau, he is such a pretty boy, I love it and he is good in that position ❤😍

Something very fun about an anemo fashion designer would be the potential of his elemental skills using the swirl reaction to make different colored fabrics from each of the reactive elements. Like a literal rain coat, or a bow made of fire. Very fashion forward.

I am in. The genshin impact hyperfixtation right now . I’m making multiple characters, two of which are mine and my siblings- only three have names, those being Alizeé (mine, Fontaine, anemo spear), Aimeé (siblings, Fontaine, pyro sword), and Nen (friends, sumeru, hydro spear)- but I’ve literally watched this and the other video on repeat while sketching these characters-

Really fitting for a flamboyant man to be anemic visioned, very free and laid back, looks like he’d have all the sass in the world. An interaction between him and Venti looks like it would be funny to witness imo and from what is given here. I had a feeling the electro would be Liyue lol They’re all so beautiful! They all have such striking designs. Would definitely grind for primos to work on their banners lol

As a new Genshin player, I would be willing to spend all of my money on Lixin. Tall, dark, and handsome rain boy? Yes please.

Oh my goodness Yukis design is so cool, it really makes me want to try to resign her! as soon as I saw her and heard his descriptions and ideas for her, I got flooded with ideas, I just don't know if it's okay to do that

Perhaps Yuki used to be chibi. She was always meant to leave the childless parents that she found after the winter but decided to stay. She grew to love them. And over time changed her appearance to make it seem like she is growing, in order to see them happy.

fashion student here!! designer initial logos are very common in designer fashion and is often used as almost like a status symbol to show what you can afford, the bows could easily be a way of trickling down witch is when colors and silhouettes trickle down from runway fashion to the everyday clothes we wear to show we are 'up to date on trends' the bows could easily be something like that!!!

I NOTICED THE DOUBLE LIFE THING WITH CRYO CHARACTERS BEFORE AND WAS WONDERING WHY NO ONE ONLINE WAS POINTING IT OUT

In the case of Fontaine characters key design element, its not "bow", but more like "tied ribbon-like" element. Things like neckties, cravat, kerchiefs, they're all types of "ribbon cloth" that could be tied into ribbons in your neck or somewhere else as an accessory or to hold clothes up. Which explains on Wriothesley's lack of any eared bow in his self, he has a tie, that is a non-eared bow in the end.

the previous video inspired me to create a spreadsheet of all character variants that exist as playable in the game lmao

Lixin and Sai's character design is immaculate, the depth with your rambling is really apparent (even if I know jack about art), peak tbf.

its funny that you mentioned the last character enjoying bows because everyone has bows on their outfits, because that is a real character now! Chiori made most of the fontaine characters’ outfits, and she puts bows on all of them. she wears bows herself. you predicted her perfectly!

This makes me wanna design my own Genshin OCs but my brain rot is focusing on a two things, a fanfiction I’m working on and an OC of mine that eats money. Other than that share the part of your mind that makes you art so good, please share

Oh my gosh, I love Lixin and Beau SO MUCH! They are so beautiful and so atmospheric in some ways! They are both so pretty and I would LOVE to meet them in game! I’m also not the type of person to take a liking to flamboyant, gossipy characters but Beau sounds like a charmer!

The mention of the Hokusai painting was really cool to me because I’m studying Hokusai and am literally painting my own version of it while I watch this video.

I just have this headcanon now that Sai joined the fishing association to make friends, but is actually terrified of fish. And is always being revered as a master fisherman who always has just the most amazing catch, and his story quest could be you helping him with his journey of self-discovery during the up-and-coming 'Inazuma Fishing Festival!'

I kind of imagine that for Sai’s burst animation, he has is fishing rod on his shoulder, and the camera zooms in on his face. He winks at the camera, and then hauls this giant fish or wave of fish from the ground.
