Character Modeling - Production workflows for modeling a stylized character for animation using Maya & Mudbox 2013, PTex/Mental Ray with Carol Ashley. Level: Beginner Topics: Blocking Out the Head (First Lesson for the Head)
You ROCK. I have been watching all kinds of tutorials, Yours are the best. The guys skip too many steps and do not give accurate information and they do not bother to zoom into the dialog boxes so that you can see what is going on. You are better than my actual teacher I have paid for....Thank you. I may actually pass my 3D modeling class because of you. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!
thank you so much. i've been fumbling around with too many tutorials, and yours finally makes the whole puzzle fall into place. your way of teaching is awesome!
I'm speechless, you are awesome Carol, I mean just by seeing this tut i can say that you are a very kind and generous person. You teach in a fantastic way, you give all the reason behind each and every vertex, edge and loops. It is very helpful to me.. Thanks a lot.. :)
Thank you all for the nice comments. It's been awhile since I've posted any new tuts. IBaby, move, new job, etc. BUT...I am gearing up to do an intro to modeling in Maya 2015, followed by another more advanced character/creature modeling workflow using Maya/ZBrush. Stay tuned! :)
I get so frustrated with Maya that I called you names throughout the video to myself, but you have actually helped me a tremendous amount, and it's really good so thank you :)
Hi, thank you so much for doing this. This series has been so useful. You work at the perfect pace for me and are extremely clear the entire time. Great help, you have no idea!
got a question.. do you use this "cylinder-edge loops-head" technique in your actual work, i mean, when you model characters not for lessions? are there any other nice techniques? thank you. sorry for my enlish.
10:05 - what do you mean by maxing it out or maybe I'm hearing it wrong. you mean maximizing the resolution? but don't we usually do that on render settings? or you meant subdividing it? I'm confused
