Awesome tutorial, so easy to follow, He only uses mutli-cut tool and extrudes some faces, so long as you know how to do that, super easy to follow. Goes at a quick enough pace but not too fast. This tutorial is perfect because I wanted to be able to do at least okay looking heads without a reference image, I am not a modeler type of guy so I just want a procedural way of creating this stuff, helped a lot!
Terrific tutorial! Good way to get the basics for every general head. Especially the muscles around the neck and so on... I'd like to see a full body tutorial as well. That would be awesome =D
Really great video! Good for a refresher, I hadn't been in Maya for awhile. Only suggestion I would make is that you show how to setup the custom bar in the beginning of the video. Just so people aren't continuously pause looking for tools then playing. But very great video a lot of help. Thanks
Mangosuthu Buthelezi seriously!!! There’s so many fast tutorials which are more of a show-off video rather than educational. This is a great find! When using split tool, is it automatically cutting symetrically?

Could you please explain your custom tools and how you actually make this work properly please, I have tried to follow you tutorial three times now and it doesn't work for me very well. 1. How to center vertices? 2. How to duplicate special properly, it seems to create at least a 1cm gap between each side of the face. 3. When I use interactive split tool and un-tick what you mention, it just doesn't seem to work and also when I move the newly created vertex it creates a gap in the face. Thank you
Itis good tutorial really >>but i have aproblem when i do smooth it adds 2 or three more lines inside the polygon and the edge towards the deleted face deforms >>how to solve that? thanks in advance
In the video I do not really smooth the mesh. Instead I use smooth preview by pressing "3" key on the keyboard. That does not add the subdivisions. Smooth preview only adds subdivisions during render time. As far as the deleted face, I am not quite sure what you mean. Please describe where that face is located. If you are talking about the face in the center of the eye, which is not a four sided face, that face should be deleted and I believe that further down I do delete that face.
Hey, it's 'Duplicate Special'. When you have the half of your model that you want to duplicate you go to 'Edit' then near the bottom is 'Duplicate Special'. However, you have to change the settings before applying it so that it copies what you do on one side of the image. To change the settings hold Shift on your keyboard then click it. In the Options box change the Geometry type to 'Instance; and change the first box in 'Scale' to '-1.0000'. Then hopefully everything should be good. Hope this helps :)
Also, double click the arrow button on the left side of maya. It pulls up an options menu. Under 'reflection settings' you can do things to one side and it moves on the other side.
