Sounds like we are quite alike 😁 I have that bag too howeverI store kindling wood and slithers in the Drifta Fire Wood Bag (along with bigger bits of redgum). I'm kneeling on that bag it in this video. When I do 4wding trips I often buy kindling bags from Bunnings, and the hardy redgum firewood, and put it all in the same bag - allows me to build a good fire in the wet. I love cutting my own fore-arm sizes logs in the bush though using the silky saw - its the best fuel to get a roaring fire for the redgum to catch. Thanks heaps for watching srowlandso, Happy camping 😃

Yeah, been using the metal can with a lid for years to reuse my charcoal on my road trips for our next fire or meal. Nice and simple without wasting water 💦 our making a mess🔥🏕 🇨🇦

Yeah, a cleaner way of doing it for sure! And portable - you can do it when camping too. I've found the re-heated charcoal is hotter and lasts longer when using the water method. I might give the tin another go. Thanks for watching mate. Its amazing to reach people so far from me :)

I cook on a BigGreen and shut off the vents. Going to try your lighting method .

Genius!!! Seems so obvious now you demonstrate it. Now the big question. Do I actually have the motivation to do it after several beers (and would it be safe if I did 😂) ?

Just remember to wear your safety crocs/flip flops and you'll be fine😁

Just put the coals in a metal pot with a wet t shirt to seal the lid and pour water over the pot. I do this a lot .steak only takes 8 minutes. Chicken takes ages do not much left

An alternate method is putting charcoal in a metal container with an air tight lid (food tin/steel billy, etc) - starving the oxygen from the fire. Although I've had best results with this water quench method🌊 - I think because its cooling down faster (presses pause faster) and therefore less of the charcoal energy is wasted (with the metal can method it still burn for a bit until starved of oxygen). What do you reckon?

I often do this in my Weber, I just shut all the vents and then top up the charcoal with what's left next time.
