QJ had a high drop rate in college & caught less than 50% of his contested catches in college so it shouldn’t be a surprise how he played in his rookie season.
It’s ridiculous to suggest QJ is going to take the league by storm next season considering how he played in his rookie season. There are a few rookie receivers in each rd who have shown more promise than QJ.
@@manoftheyear6197 - as an objective fan it seems far fetched to suggest QJ is going to have some breakout season. His inconsistency in college was perhaps why he wasn’t expected to be drafted in the 1st rd.
@@Prime_L10Because Kellen had the man running routes only Mike can run, if they use him the way Reid Hill with quick screens and crosses to get him the ball he'll be affective
QJ had a high drop rate & caught less than 50% of his contested catches in college so it shouldn’t be a surprise how he played during his rookie season. Telesco passed on Addison, Flowers, Kincaid, & LaPorta for QJ when they were in win now mode which makes no sense. Telesco was terrible throughout his tenure.
Q is going to make a big difference. Last year coaching was trying to make him a Mike Williams. And his amazing yards after catch skills weren't even used. Rarely was he even given crossing patterns. I've got to spend a little time with him - he's very focused and very dedicated. He will be a big-time receiver. ✅
@@dgvccihe didn't drop any percentage of balls than Keenan Allen who's a great player. LaMar Chase I had a lot of jobs in the beginning.Q only had a few drops of course one was very noticeable
I hate when people start hating on a young player. Yeah, he had a bad rookie season. But this is a young man, I want to see him succeed, he seems kind, willing to learn, and based on TCU tape, has the talent too. Good luck Q, keep grinding man, I hope you ball out!
Long way to go to prove yourself, Q. A long, long way. Best not to put yourself out there in interviews and all until you get stuff done. Learn from Justin. Practice with Justin. Catch the ball. Concentrate. You have to improve your focus a lot to reach decent WR skillset levels. Really not a good look to be working with sponsors. You're getting a salary from the Chargers which you're not yet earning. Don't be that guy who's chasing money and jewelry. Chase competence.
As a Chargers fan, I obviously hope he has a hugely improved 2nd season, but after what I saw this year, I'd absolutely bet against it. He couldn't even bring in the easy ones that Herbert put right on him, let alone make any difficult catches. Fingers crossed the Chargers get Nabers or Bowers, and anything Johnston does next year is just a bonus.
If you think about it, he didn't really drop a lot of passes, he just dropped a few important passes, particularly the one against the packers. Not saying his hands can't improve drastically, but a lot of thst is mental also. He also didn't have much time to work with herbert throughout the season because the games he got the most opportunity were when both herbo and keenan were out. Now with keenan and mike gone, he will have plenty of time to work with herbert and build chemistry with him.
Chargers getting the Michigan HC and three other of JH coaching staff plus other recruits to come to LAC Harbaugh TakeOver. QJ will improve no doubt about it. Lots of great leadership coming to the team!
Everyone wants to be down on the guy and the drops have to be rectified yes, but he also shouldn’t have been asked to be Mike Williams in week 3 when had less than a month of NFL experience and basically ZERO as in the Mike Williams role. If he works on his hands and isn’t asked to be something he’s not then he will be fine
Haters gonna have tears next year. Ja'Marr Chase started his first year with a lot more drops. Q drop rate was "4.5%" - Player Profile -NFL Keenan drop rate "3.3%" Room for improvement but both of them had some key drops and Keenan is all world ✅
Chase only had drops in the preseason and had it cleaned up by week 1 of the regular season and was then catching everything and even went on to win OROTY. QJ continued to drop easy passes and showed no improvement in cleaning that up like chase did.
Whether he has a good sophomore yr or overall career - i cant wait to come back here and reply lol to all the haters after hating his rookie yr smh. Not even a charger fan either or TCU fan
I’m rooting for QJ! You can tell he’s concerned with his play last year and that he really is looking to improve. Pair that with a coach who can use him correctly, and maybe we have a new young duo with QJ and whoever we draft at either WR or TE. A lot of people are making fun of our team (rightly so); however, i feel like this is the one year to take the bolts seriously. Jim HARBAUGH!!!
"Havin' a good time..." Why promote for the "havin' a good time" companies? Maybe a more appropriate company would be a core-building, strength & conditioning company that can promote an athlete's success on the field? Maybe a better agent would be one that shows how a player is working to improve their skills for the career they've chosen. The time to commit to your team is now.
everyones giving excuses cuz hes tall. if he was a shorter receiver ppl would be acting different,,, this is gonna stop these nfl coaches excited cuz of height
@@FredAlexander-wx5sp some jump balls, in and outs routes, different schemes, put him in the slant, let him throw the ball, kick the ball, punt the ball and slam dunk the ball
Johnston your highlights in college were on point... just keep fine tuning. Hopefully Davis can show up like he did also after you were the person to go to until you got tired and then Davis would catch a 39 yard pass. It was a good duo. Keep up the good work and good luck this season.
QJ, instead of this “Work” that you’re doing with Nikey that you mentioned, why don’t you focus on how to catch a football??? You seem very casual about all you have going on with sponsors but really should be focused on improving your game, you are not there yet my friend.
Really don’t like hearing this dude talk. This sounds harsh. But I believe nothing this guy sais. All I want to hear from him is I need to be better for this team myself and my family.
Quentin if you read this, keep your head up. You're in the pro's, it's very fast-paced. Were humans we have emotions. I feel the sense that you are/were nervous. Playing sports myself, people forget that its not just physical ability to perform at a high level but its also MENTAL. Keep your head up bro. block out the noise, and do what you do best.
