I remember doing this speech 7 years ago for a college speech class. It was the shortest speech yet my teacher loved it. He felt a connection to it as i did and gave me a perfect score. He kept me an hour after class and talked about his son who he lost years back and how this speech moved him. I referenced this film to him and I like seeing this clip from time to time as i think it is a great scene and one of the peaks in this film. Nothing but truth in his message.
The ‘speech’ is actually a witness to the truth , Jesus is who he said he was - the way the truth the life .. and no one comes to the father except by him.
Thanks very much for posting this! By the way, can you correct the spelling of Eric Liddell's name? That way, more people will be able to find this video. Also, if you add the actor Ian Charleson's name as well (to your keywords or description), more people will find and view the video. Cheers!
The question is not so much why do we have to commit ourselves to it, it is given to us unconditionally so we do not have to (that is the nature of unconditional love). The question is why wouldn't we? What other response is there to such a great love?
That’s a deep question and requires a deep answer not really fit for a RU-vid comment. Read the Bible. Go to Sunday School. Pray about it. Learn. Figure it out.
You have to take your hat off to Charlson..he was a great actor and he actually wrote this speech. Not bad from a man that your religion would send to hell...........just for being gay.
Well, that depends on religion., One must ask also, what the Scottish Ian Charleson's youthful background was prior to becoming a university student and what effect that had on him to influence and write this speech.. I take it you like liked this scene.. He really was a truly great actor and person, to those who knew him, like the character he played, if you hadn't researched Eric Liddel. Ian Charleson's role in Shakespeare's Hamlet in 1989 was magnificent. A very spiritual and humble man, like his character.
@@Mormon_underwear did you see his Hamlet yourself? My apologies for asking but I research Mr.Charleson for many years now and own a huge archive in the meantime with lots of treasures and I'm always very happy to chat about him especially his legendary roles in the theatre. samidp5@yahoo.com Best wishes Sabrina
@@pr9062 You don't go to hell for being gay. The Bible does not teach that. Regardless if a person believes being gay is a sin or not, the Bible clearly says for ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God. God sent his only Son to die for every person. God did not say I send my son to die for everyone but homosexuals. Those who hate the Bible make up things like "your religion would send to hell....just for being gay". Not true.
