What is Charisma? - Presence. Power. Warmth. How to be more present. 1. Focus on your toes. 2. Look into their pupils 3. In general 'People will accept whatever you project.' How be perceived as more powerful 1. Power pose. 2. Alpha gorilla visualization. 3. Take up space. How to be perceived as having warmth 1. You can't fake it. Too much body language. Picture a person, place, or thing that brings up emotion. 2. Method acting. Visualization. (Eyes) 3. Voice. Tonality & Pitch. How to handle the Impostor Syndrome 1. Destimatization 2. Detach 3. Rewrite

Charisma is a DECISION, not a technique. It's a decision that you make way before you arrive to the event. It happens when you're by yourself and are reflecting on your life. It happens the moment you decide to put 100% of what is inside of you on the outside. In other words, you stop living in your head. When you are fully visible to people, that is the beginning of charisma. Add to that a drive to be a lifelong learner, and you will have something to share with people and help them. Charisma is not technique, but it's making your inner self visible and improving on that self so that it helps others. Bill Clinton would never have charisma just because he was "present." His charisma began long ago when he decided to try to change the world. It's what's in his head that makes him attractive, charismatic, not whether or not he is wiggling his toes to stay present.

Pretty cool. I've always had confidence issues regarding public speaking and interaction for the exact reason she has pointed out. The knowledge of impostor syndrome has made me feel more confident. I'm going to try out some of these techniques as well.

Instead of "giving the impression" that you care, why don't you simply decide to actually care? Non-charismatic behaviour emerges from self-interest. Change your intent and new behaviours will emerge.

Love the distinction that all you have to do when engaging is "alpha gorilla body language" to not appear arrogant is to bring your chin down so you're not looking down your nose at someone.

She appears unnatural, forced. She's definitely not gifted at social skills. But the book is valuable nonetheless.
