To me, the reason why MJ is the goat is not just because of stats and resume. That doesn't say the whole story. I've watched MJ and Lebron their whole careers. MJ had a flair, showmanship quality to his playing style that made you go wow every time he played, especially the first 7-8 years of his career. He could pull off moves you couldn't even comprehend. He was the original Westbrook or Morant, but smarter and less reckless.This aspect of Michael has gotten lost over time, and today people just mention the killer mentality, 6 rings, the MVPs, the accolades.. Lebron, although consistent stats-wise, has never given me the same feeling when he plays.

Of course they would. He was their hero before they came to the league. Not only was he so good but they already looked at him with reverence before playing him. Lebron is only considered good because of his stats and the fact that the playing field is incredibly thin with talent. If they played against each other (each in their prime) then Levron would have been just another name. He only gets the fanfare because he’s the current poster child for the NBA. The Chicago Bulls during Jordan’s tenure were the poster TEAM for the NBA while also having THE poster child for the NBA. Stats are one thing, but rings speak it all.
