I can honestly say this is the first time for most people on the planet to witness the proclamation of a new male British monarch King. History right in front of our eyes .
I’m just not sure he’s strong enough to carry the monarchy. Queen Elizabeth lived a quiet life without controversy. Charles being able to live his life openly for 70+ years has opened him up to a lot of criticism. The Queen was never afforded as many years to step out of line.
I cant help bit feel sad for King Charles. Millions of people judging him and ready to pounce at any misstep . He is after all just a man with the same failings as any human being. Long live the King.

very few people have the experience to live over 70 when his/her mother dies. sad loss for sure but still a privileged situation. no one lives for ever but if you are over 70 when your mother dies, it also can be considered a blessing to have her so much time. Very few people have that privilege.
@JHWH The Monarchy has no political power but has many important roles, including supporting charities, the military, fostering diplomatic relations between countries, appointing and dismissing Prime Ministers, signing Bills into Law and many other things. The Monarchy provides stability and continuity.
Deepest condolences. We all share in your grief even though she was not our Queen. I'm glad she at least saw through her Jubilee just how many throughout the world cared for her. I can't imagine how hard this must be for King Charles and the royal family :( But I have a lot of respect for him and for the many years he has already dedicated to public service. It is why, despite not always having agreed with him, I am sure he will be as dedicated a King as his mother was. I pray that they all find comfort in their loss. The King used a dip pen! This little thing made my writing tool heart happy. Though the look he gave an assistant when he couldn't find room on that small table to sign the document was priceless.
I feel the same for anyone who has lost their mother. Having more titles and more money does not make it any more sorrowful. RIP with all the other queens who loved their children.

It is amazing to watching this come full circle. I think I finally look at Prince William as an adult. I know that is wierd, But I remember when he was born. I think King Charles is different than the man we knew in the 80s and 90s.
Andrea: She always told him he had to wait. Now, he realizes why. She had been through the experience of gaining the crown through losing loved ones. She knew what a harsh experience it is. He inherits a pandemic and an European war in addition to his crown. I hope he has learned from his mother that he is to turn to William constantly, since that is how William gets prepared. William, now, is experiencing some of what he will go through again when he gains the crown by losing his father. They need Harry back now. They should figure out how to direct the strengths of William's wife and Harry's wife out at the world and nit inti conflict with each other. Both women want to lead. I can't even begin to imagine having to go out and "greet" the public and give speeches the day after my beloved mom passed away. King Charles handled himself eloquently, even though he was mourning the terrible loss of his mother.
