So there is no way to service the roller furling?

Yes you can service and replace bearings but I would need to pull the mast.

Ive gota Beneteau 361 and just replaced the Furl drum. I managed - with lots of grunting - to do it by disassembling the old furler drum, and removing piece by piece. I did the reverse to install the replacement drum. You will find that the bearings on the bottom will largely stay in place (use grease to hold them on their lip). I lost a few on the top ring, but was able to pop them back in during the final connection phase. My foil did not drop when the drum was removed, and the furling line will support the drum once the 4 set screws on the mast are removed. I need to inspect the mast head properly next time aloft, however one cant see how it all really works unless you unstep the mast.
