Charlie really is *ridiculously* harsh in that judging segment, it's not surprising that the contestants were upset because he's not just trying to be a TV judge, he's trying to be the worst and most bullying TV judge he can be based on all the worst traits of the others. It's actually a bit hard to watch
Maybe because it was compressed, it seemed like he was worse than the "actual" demi-gods in such shows. All he did was tick the boxes. Apart from the catchphrase profanity, he certainly didn't hector them more than someone like Gordon Ramsey. And the "dragons" really do sneer. Charlie Brooker did a great job of deconstructing (and acting).
Seems like a time-window could be narrowed and then given as operational data for a Terminator. But one which does good. (Joking. She is repugnant, but the gods made her, they can sort out their mess 😉).
