The sad thing is that both parties have no clue what socialism is. Kirk often mentions failed states as an example and the ‘crazy left’ think it’s some naive paradise. I’m no socialist in my country, but I do support health care, social security, accessible education for everybody and the relatively high tax rates that make these things possible. Most European countries, with these ‘socialistic’ traits, score higher than the US on economic performance, life expectancy and on well being. The US is not a great country and is drifting towards a third world economy, including the social disrupting of economic opportunities.
