GREAT!!.. Good musicians adapt to any circumstance because they enjoy what they do. No matter the setting, the number of people or if the instrument is old (it is appreciated when they are good and of good quality of course), but if the moment is improvised they play with the skill that characterizes them. You can tell he really loved to play the jumping jive swing he grew up with, and the Stones were a bit of a hindrance to that but it paid the bills, so he made the best of it. What a great drummer! As a colourist, he was in a class of his own....

Well, depends how narrow your definition of jazz is. In any case, Charlie did love and play what you would probably consider “real” jazz. I think he made a tribute album to Charlie Parker, if that satisfies what you call jazz.

You just have to wonder... did he himself REALLY think he was good? Or probably he knew just how lucky he was to have met the friends he did as a teenager and that they didn't get a better drummer along the way... He was SO mediocre. Lucky man. RIP
Absolutely agree, my neighbour plays more inovative than this, and he's just 10 years old. I mean, c'mon, Charlie already plays drums what like 50 years or more, he played in various legendary records (can't help it because he's a rolling stone), but just a little innovative chops than just a plain drumming like that. C'mon Charlie, are you serious, no chops at all?
