Sadly, downtown Charlotte lost a cornerstone when Belk’s Department Store, a massive complex between Trade, 5th, College, and Tryon streets was demolished. The classic Ivey’s across Tryon St. closed shortly thereafter.
Good evening my good friend Mike !! I really enjoy watching your videos as it’s quite relaxing and how beautiful of a city Charlotte ,NC ; I live about 5-6 hours from Charlotte. Thanks for the time and effort you put forward into making these videos. Enjoyed today’s drive through the heart of the city. Definitely looking forward for upcoming videos through different major cities. Hoping that you are planning on a tramsCanadian trip because Canada 🇨🇦 is a beautiful country which I’d honestly love to see Keep up the great work and many thumbs up !!! 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂👍👍👍👍👍
It’s amazing to look at Charlotte now. I lived there in 1985. There were no buildings higher than 7 floors back then. Now they’ve got skyscrapers galore like other big cities.
@@guitarcomet5 Yeah, you must have forgotten. There were 3 to 4 tall building uptown in the early 70's. The 32 story First Union building opened in 1971, followed by the 40 story NCNB tower in 74.
Just discovered your channel. I live hear born and raised. The city has changed so much. I talk to my dad all the time who was also born and raised here and even he can’t believe it sometimes.
You're seeing only the pretty side of Charlotte they're not showing the west side of Charlotte beatties Ford road going down to West Charlotte Little Rock road tuckaseegee road going down a little more to Billy Graham take a look around at some of these West Charlotte check out some of the apartments over on freedom Drive in toddville road look at the mess there look at the trash of people look at the teenagers standing around looking like thugs
Why does that bus disappear at S. Tryon and 4th st? It's turning the corner from 4th st onto S. Tryon and it slowly vanishes before it gets all the way on S. Tryon.? Really freaky! You see the same person on the motorcycle across the street. Same people that cross the street but the bus disappears. WTF?
I been there.at night.at the greyhound bus terminal.waiting to get a ride back to tennessee.to leave a jerk marine i lived with.worst mistake i ever made.living with him.never felt like home.i lived in shelby nc.never going back.
@@sharonrivers1347That was your worst experience doesn’t mean everyone else going be terrible. I visited Charlotte NC had a wonderful experience love it ❤
I actually emailed the city about why they renamed it Brooklyn Village and not simply Brooklyn, because the old neighborhood was never a village or refereed to as such. The answer was because Brooklyn Avenue is already being used near East 10th Avenue and the future development that is going to replace Marshall Park is called Brooklyn Village. Now you know too.
idk if he drove around freedom dr it would look pretty gentrified there are tons of expensive apartments now on freedom and even Beaties ford looks completely different now with the train going there now.
Most people are not interested in seeing the poor side of any thing. We rather pretend it does not exist, so we can go on feeling good about our lives. We actually get upset when we are forced to see the homeless, urban decay, and rural poverty. Homeless people know this and it explains why they come up to town square and lay down right in front of us so we will have to walk around them.
