You definitely ain't lying I'm from G Rapids Mich and I'm telling you they got the most tore up roads always doing construction at night and it's always car accidents on these freeways and they definitely can't drive but in Michigan we got to deal with snow potholes and tore up freeways and they got them down here
As someone who moved here from North Jersey I see way more potentially fatal car accidents than street violence on a day to day basis than I ever saw back home.
@Placeholder Bro I've lived here 2 years and I've been coming here since I was like 5 cus my Dad's side of the family is from the south, I'm only saying what I've seen.
@Placeholder yeah he’s obviously one of them guys who *stay out the way* cause from a individual whom has roots from Beatties ford to Graham street I’ve seen a hell of a lot of shit
@@QueenCityKing704 I've kicked it in all those places and I'm a white dude. Within the last year and a half it's gotten ridiculous around here. Ya used to be able to go anywhere in the city and you'd be fine but it's waaaaaaayyyyy different now. I went to a gas station after dark last night on tryon and I was absolutely terrified. It was a nice city we had once upon a time...smh.
I am from South Jersey and I agree. To even use a turning signal here is like a deadly sin. So much casual recklessness on the roads here. Driving on i77 especially can be scary AF.
1:06 That is Brookhill. Really strange situation IMO as a transplant myself. Half the homes are abandoned and it is in a prime location right outside Southend and Uptown Charlotte. I think with housing going wild here, Brookhill will be torn down and gentrified sooner rather than later.
Is housing really that bad in Charlotte? I’m looking to move to Mecklenburg in at least 2 years. Any suggestions? I’m from Fayetteville and they turning up with housing down here too.
I used to live in Brookhill about 10 yrs ago when my family was going through a rough patch in our lives. We didn't have a bad experience there and although it's very much what you would consider the "projects", there wasn't a lot of crime that happened during the time when we lived there.
charlotte hoods were hoods been bought into and gentrification happened about 17 years ago brookhill, southside, wilmo, earl and dalton village, hidden valley, jackson park, Blvd homes, lil rock, piedmont courts, cherry, fairview homes, greenville, double oaks, small wood, Belvedere. Yup I know all of them and being from wilmo I could only walk in 2 of them neighboring brookhill and southside the others well thats another story.
Yep. If they not from here they'll never know how it use to be. Now people who aren't from here who came in the 70's,80's and 90's they have stories and most say "man I wouldn't go on this side of town or this area. The old Charlotte was the real Charlotte
Now that's some real shit! I was born in 72 outta North Char but played the whole city. People not from the city would see this and get a misconception. The 80's and 90's different story.
Go check out Icemorlee apartments in Monroe for a real hood. I just worked over there this week. Charlotte has gentrified most of the hoods there. All the poor are getting pushed out to surrounding areas like Gastonia, Monroe, Rock Hill and Concord. Brook hill is getting cleared out and they are not renting most of the apartments there. Charlotte doesn’t really put the low income all together anymore and mostly makes deals with new developments to include a certain percentage as low income. It takes years to get a place and they are strict with who they allow so most poor won’t get any help.
Charlotte don’t have any hoods which is a good thing for a city its size...the city tore down all the projects and priced all the poor people out, all the gangstas got their CDL’s and coach youth basketball now 😂
Gastonia and Monroe right outside have hoods granted they are small. Charlotte was rougher 30 years ago. Now its gentrification from the inside outward.
Lol I deliver packages in the "hood" in Charlotte and I ASSURE you that none of this is the "hood" none of it. Idk if he just avoided the actual hood or if he was scared and said he'll nah...😄. He drove past a few "projects" but the trenches, these were not it.
I've interviewwed gangs in the worst parts of Chicago at night, and I live in Detroit so I don't think I'm afraid of Charlotte. There are no real hoods in Charlotte. The fact that you think there are trenches in Charlotte that are that scary makes you look suspect. If so where are they ? I'm still here.
Nothing wrong with Charlotte being a fresh clean safe thriving city. Why do people like you want your hometown to be known as dangerous and ghetto. It shows that people in Charlotte are strong, inteligent and more productive..
@@blast4me754 why do people like you assume things about people you don't know from one post? Shut your goofy ass up and relax bish, it's not even that deep.
I remember moving to charlotte as a 12 year old had a alot of fights honestly some of my best memories was with some of the friends I made in the hood mid 90s was wild there but there definitely was good Poeple there just wild 😜😂. Miss them
As a Charlotte native born and raised all of the original hoods are no longer there they have all been torn down Piedmont courts delahay courts Boulevard homes Jackson Park Hidden Valley Oaklawn Avenue just to name a few places seen in this video are what's left and remnants of what used to be let's not forget the original OG He-Man and G-Man gangs long before hvks home sweet home Charlotte

Funny how ppl have so much to say about what Charlotte is when you not in the streets of Charlotte 😂😂💀 I will be dropping a 3 part documentation on Charlotte I'm actually born and raised there not just someone who moved there when the most of the Original hoods got knocked down because of gentrification
The economy is too good and too many jobs for the ghetto to be that big. If you're on welfare or earning a living through criminal behavior here, it's by choice, not circumstance. This city is very clean and well kept compared to everywhere else I've lived, especially the northeast rust belt.
Don't forget northcharlotte Milton rd sugar creek hidden valley tuck west Blvd the Ford Wilmore Hampshire hills Shannon park Idlewild albemarle rd and more
Man I'm born and raised here. It's no hoods here now. 60's,70's,80's,90's was when Charlotte had real rough areas etc. Not now. Alot of those places has been changed now. Gentrification bs going on since 2005. It's not the Charlotte we grew up in. It's different now. No real hopes since 2003... Alot of new comers here now
@@BeezoRacks exactly people fail to realize that a lot of neighborhoods in America are literally worse than most of 3rd world countries. And black hoods are very unwelcoming to people not of color.
They look like that from the outside, but a lot of this hoods are really dangerous, just like down here in Southamerica. Don't be fooled by the way they look.

All of Charlottes hoods are gone already. Demolished and rebuilt. This city has been hit hard with gentrification over the last decade. Brook hill is on its way too
I've lived in Cleveland and Kansas City. When I moved to Charlotte I was surprised that the 15th largest city in the country is so evolved. This is one of the greenest and progressive large cities that I've ever been to. Although there are hoodish areas, there really isn't an actual "hood" in Charlotte. There are trees everywhere, even all over uptown. There are shacks next door to mansions on many streets; which is one of the craziest things I've ever seen. The only thing ghetto about Charlotte are some of the natives (who are the minority population in their own city). They actually compete with the ghettos in other cities in an effort to "put Charlotte on the (ghetto) map". If you check the statistics on murder rates and crime you will see how pathetic that is. This city is vastly occupied by people from other cities and countries. That's why it continues to evolve.
You are not going to be able to call Charlotte Hood…..GENTRIFICATION has changed things-and these so called Hood areas like your title suggest aren’t dirty areas!

@Mike Jones true trying to erase things slowly surely it's all sad west Blvd all but shut down wok out business jack n box gone trying to purge the city and moving for the back happened when they do there's no bus line you got to walk almost a half a mile to get the bus and then maybe one of them sure maybe three times a day and that's it and then you be sitting there losing your job can't get to work and some people disable that senior citizen kids trying to ride so the town so big the kids got to ride the bus to school wow section 8 really don't exist in Charlotte when you on it it's hard to find a house I've seen people and try to help them in next few you feel through cracks and didn't find anything they had to have a thing with you and then again it didn't find anything when it is fine it was one dollar too much to get home everybody's been in this place it has a right to have a rightful opportunity in life I'm not bottom I'm up you know it frustrated me when I'm when I used to stay over there with my aunt I really did it frustrated me to see what's going on and mostly everybody just turned the blind out if a few that help and there's a few that wanted here but they want a brownie point but you get no Brown account in this situation and Charles just one of the many keys that is happening and you live in Charlotte you have to thank for your bank out of the box for yourself and then you can help others because about self opportunity that you can't make opportunities for other people and me I can speak on this all day all night but I'm not asleep I just whatever deserves over the years old I only go stay in Charlotte when I need it through by the family need to stay with him till they can get better from health Wise other than that I know I think I wouldn't make it home it's a beautiful place it's nice place to enjoy yourself but it's just it's just less opportunities for the last 40 chance once they get a dollar raise on on something then they get fresh out and then something then they turn down all the history instead of remaking it and and they want to keep the business historical places but when you come down to community certain things and they don't try to save them they just go ahead and just let him run down and in the bills that are there and we going through them instead of trying to contact the person and give them a grant to write to go ahead and revitalize it then go ahead and take it up in taxes and push it down and then when the person I'm trying to pay the taxes their property gone and you senior citizens they shouldn't even have to pay no land taxes they shouldn't pay any taxes they should get to ride the bus free meals on wheels that's falling through I saw that phone it's a lot of things that are waiting on a hot meal every day and they can't have it and it got a second on Fridays because Saturdays and Sundays they don't have any they don't do that and they got a warm that meal up and they don't get a spoonful of peas and some corn and a little slice of meat padding some cold mashed potatoes and the ones that do get some of them and wheelchairs and bed bound and what I say things it doesn't matter who are with me is what I say stand and it's easy to prove it wherever I told you the Sun going on wrong or you got to do is walk and you can see it in the neighborhood like there's nothing to fight over there's nothing you can set up and actually see what I'm saying and I know you want it change but not this because you mention latta plantations true they should turn over to NAACP the end feud can't let them have it it's culture situation I'm not discriminating if choose help am sure all is appreciated just like statue's first thing culture ! Each own town to divide history is for anyone whom seeks knowledge of history 🎤🌍 so rare to care deeply city needs to talk with NAACP come to agreement
