There are no "good guns". There are no "bad guns". Any gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing. Any gun in the hands of a decent person is no threat to anybody - except bad people. - Charlton Heston
Charlton Heston movies are no longer in demand His immortal soul my lay forever in the sand The angels wouldn't take him up to heaven like he planned 'Cause they couldn't pry that gun from his cold dead hand
Thank you Mr. Heston for giving the last good years of your life in defense of liberty. You could have spent a lot more time with your friends and family, but instead you took a stand for our rights! You put your reputation on the line for the liberty of mankind. The people of the world own you a debt of gratitude. R.I.P. great Patriot.
He could have easily retired into a comfortable life, avoiding all controversy. Instead he chose to dedicate his last years, at great cost and discomfort to his health, to travelling all over the country helping to defend the right of law abiding citizens to keep and bear arms. For his efforts he received all sorts of insults and mocking from the media, Hollywood, and gun control groups. He also received numerous death threats, including one from a famous African-American movie director who stated publicly how he would like to shoot Heston in the head with a .45 caliber pistol.
Waking up😆 While Trump is ripping off you awoken anti intellectuals and your "researching" on Q.net? The arrogance and dunning kruger of you Hateriots and american exceptionalist stooges is astounding.
GOD BLESS THIS PATRIOT'S SOUL! "It is always the patriots who first hear the call. When loss of liberty is looming, as it is now, the siren sounds first in the hearts of freedom's vanguard!".
Thank you, RIP, Mr. Heston. I wish more like you were still around today and would be the voice for we that are the people that still believe in the Constitution. Yes, they are coming for our guns, to make us THEIR servants. We will not be serfs. We will not be servants. We will not be peons. We are Americans, and we will fight. Molon Labe!
School children should be taught as young as possible, about the the importance of the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. It should be taught all through school and all the way through college, along with what our founding fathers said and also the Declaration of Independence.
You said: """Reading Thomas Jefferson's comments below it seems that Americas right to arms is based on fear of Government""" It's actually based on being FREE. "I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery." - Thomas Jefferson
+David Smith Not ALL people deserve to own guns!!! This is WHY we need COMMON SENSE gun laws, that are not INFRINGED UPON by the NRA and GUN LOBBY MONEY!!!! The intention is NOT to take away EVERY ONES guns. BUT NOOOOOO!!!! the NRA and GUN lobby spread Paranoia and Propaganda to put fear into those with out common sense!!!!!
+69ssrszl1 It is not paranoia and propaganda. Hillary herself said she wants to implement mandatory gun confiscation. The so called "common sense" gun laws are mainly being pushed as stepping stones to total confiscation.
SSN 21 People are sick of this tyrantical government. Unless the people rise up and demand our country back they will continue to trample over our rights.
I used to love Jim Carrey for a very long time and of course that love started to fizzle away over time the more I learned about him. But when I saw a skit of him making fun of Charlton Heston, it drew me to the point of loathing for that buffoon.
Carrey's portrayal was betrayal of not only Heston, but of freedom itself!!! Carry has a secret, as in Mason kind of secret which is to downplay all that is good and right.
The last sound heard at the death-knell of liberty will be the single shot of the last patriot, holding out until the very end. And, once those echoes are silenced, so will be the voices of liberty anywhere on the planet.
What is very frustrating with the gun grabbers is their rank dishonesty. For years they talked about safety and how restrictive gun laws would lead to less crime. When that did not happen they resorted to arguments that the 2nd Amendment is not an individual right to keep and bear arms but a collective right. When the courts ruled against they began an effort to resist the court rulings by dragging their feet in DC and Chicago and only relenting when they had to kicking and screaming. Only few will admit that gun rights make government less important. I would have more respect for them if they would be frank and honest about their intentions. They really do believe that only government should possess the means of violence in order to facilitate their ability to enact laws that will make the society run more efficiently and "fairly". These progressives and liberals do not want a majority to fight back and defend their individual rights. They want dutiful drones that will work, pay taxes and shut up. Of course, they cannot express that opinion too loudly in public. It just would not sound proper and not help in attracting support for their views. But this is what it is. The gun grabbers want your liberty. Destroying the 2nd Amendment is just the opening gambit to destroy the remaining nine amendments of our Bill of Rights.
Absolutley!!! Those people want to start with the "assualt rifle" when the handgun contributes more directly and when you confront them about it They stammer and backtrack. I love how heston asks this guy "would justice powell argue with Thomas Jefferson??" very awesone statement i love it
I cant believe non of those kids knew anything about tge US Constitution, or the 2A. Nor any of its Amendments either. Their school teachers need to all be fired.
You said: "" I believe people can have difference of opinion but still co-exist"" EXACTLY. Firearm owners don't want to confiscate your stuff and you won't confiscate theirs. Peace brother! Live and let live.
The sad thing is that this has become a political/hormonal issue when the reality is this. I grew up in an area in Florida where the nearest hospital was 90 minutes away. The nearest police station was 50 minutes away. You think my mom and my dad were going to wait on police or a medical team when dangerous wildlife were in our backyard or a psycho killer was roaming around the property. This is the thing the NRA needs to talk about more. That so many Americans live in remote areas of the nation. Most of the people who argue so strongly for massive gun control are city folk. Another thing: I would be dead if it weren't for a shotgun. At 5 years of age I thought a Pitbull mama's babies were cute. The problem is that the pitbull mama had other ideas. She grabbed a hold of me with her teeth and was on the verge of killing me. I was being ripped to shreds. I later needed hundreds of stitches. As much as she hated to do it, the owner of the dog had to shoot it so it wouldn't kill me. I spent the night getting rabies shots. Not fun. But I am alive today due to a gun. But people in New York City or Hollywood don't think about these things. They are protected by police stations and hospitals within a minute from their home.
Charlton Heston was the greatest man we ever had as President of the NRA, he would have been the greatest President in US history had he run. God bless you Chuck.
This man is close to god. I wish I could be like him. A warrior. Absolutely hungry for justice and truth. I watched his movies as a teenager and was mesmerized. He is a true hero of what it means to be an American. Hopefully he is watching over us in the company of Washington, Jefferson, Adams ,Franklin, Thomas Paine and all unnamed patriots ad infinitum that we see the light they have projected for our generation.
Michael Moore tried to ridicule Charlton Heston in Bowling for Columbine. He seemed shocked by Heston's keeping of a loaded gun in his house. One response to that said it all. Mr Heston said, "Because I can". He so thoroughly believes in the right to bear arms, that he demonstrated it by being ready. That right is to the people, not just to a militia which can be taken over by the government itself.
Because they don't care about lives. The gun grabbers do care about safety, they just don't tell you who's safety they care about. They care about the safety of those who dictate and those the dictators send after you.
In a state in Australia, the state police and premier made law banning calibers more powerful than .308, with turn-ins of all such firearms mandated. The reasoning is that police vehicles and body armor do not offer protection - despite there being no precedent to my knowledge of an officer being shot while wearing body armor.
Imagine how easy it would be for one country to take over another whose citizens are certain not to able to form militia. Justice Powell hasn't witnessed enemy soldiers on our soil....yet. Only a negligence and complacency can presume we never will. Our forefathers witnessed this, saw the power of militia against a foreign military, and sought to ensure America would always be protected. Crime and gun misuse is a byproduct of ancillary social defects (i.e., unemployment, divorce rate, bro
“Arguing with a woman is like throwing her argumentative ass into the turgid waters beneath the Golden Gate Bridge. She'll float but not immediately.” - Richard Thripp, "Wide Things Gone Wild"
Mr Heston was an esteemed patriot who spoke so eloquently and with the honesty from a time long lost in America. His ethics and message was undeniable but sadly lost lesser people. The untethered firepower U.S Citizens can purchase nowadays makes a mockery of the true essence in his message. Modern life in America has shown time and time again what slaughter men will put upon fellow man. This is not however exclusive to the States, this perpetuation of gun violence will only result in "ashes in our mouths" as the great John F Kennedy stated. If guns don't kill people then what is a person with a AR15 Assault rifle going to do with it, unless he is fighting terrorism or defence of their country, he theirfore must be endorsed by the Government, this is Mr Hestons' point. Cheers John
we as citizens are the militia, we always have been. every citizen is responsible for the U.S. constitution.. it's not just the National guard etc.. thats so commonly mis interpreted.. you and me are all part of that "WELL REGULATED MILITIA" that just simply means minute men or citizen soldier... or AMerican rifleman.. etc... it's not just a government ran group of military soldiers.. we are the militia
This man is an icon. I remember seeing this movie as a young man, and feeling the outrage against the fucking establishment that could bring us to this destruction. We are. And We are not. We cannot decide if we want to let others decide what is best for us or do what is right.
I know this person "mujaku" PERSONALLY. His profile is, in his OWN WORDS: "i pretended to be crazy and a communist and gay to get out of going to Vietnam" also his OWN words: "i used to take LSD and run naked at night along the beach". So, listening to him about the 2nd amendment is , well, pathetic at best. Most dangerous people are not idiots, but intelligent fools (as per same).
Now I have to admit charlton heston good man.Even if I don,t agree with every thing he says. But I am also a gun owner. The thing I respect about him is at least he would listen to your opinion. And was willing at least talk about things.Hell of an actor to.
That was the intent, glad you didn't take it seriously. Also, fully automatic firearms are already very heavily regulated, costing slightly more than 10k at the cheapest and with waiting periods not much more than a year at minimum. Also, 12 gauge shotguns are no more harmful than a semi-automatic .22 LR AR-15, if not less because of huge range limitations.
"The ideal citizen, of a tyrannical state, is the man or woman who bows in silent obedience in exchange for the status of a well cared for herd animal. Thinking people become the tyrant's greatest enemy." - - - Claire Wolfe
Absent the Second Amendment the entire Bill of Rights & Constitution are without teeth. The 2nd PREVENTS hegemony from the government. Avg shopkeeper/farmer in 1776, took their “Military Style Weapon” off their rack and DEFEATED the distant Tyrant.
@bosshog7169 Clearly, you have misunderstood. While Heston agrees that we all have a right to bear arms, he has never supported mandatory bear arms. He just wanted to legalize the procedure for those who might find it beneficial. That's the kind of thing a person can misunderstand if they don't watch the video.
Laws are first proposed to be passed as a "BILL" and the system of government that we use, has legislators and lobbyists etc.. thats the beauty of our system of government that we can have a fight or argument for our view point and definitions of what we read in the proposed new law's etc. as they pertain to us as free citizens so we peacefully dispute and fight without blood shed. i love that way of getting a law changed or a potential law abolished b4 it even gets signed into Law.
everyone in the comments talking about a militia should understand something. A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. there is a comma after the word state for a reason. The right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. doesn't mean unless some judge thinks it should. It means it flat out shall not be infringed. period.
In the past at various times I have read some great articles on how a good guy with a gun stopped a bad guy with a gun & saved lives. I think it would be a good idea if someone could created a place here on Y.T. , be it a phone #, an email address or other where people could send local newspaper articles showing all the GOOD GUY GUN STORIES. Maybe title the corner " YOUR SECOND AMENDMENT AT WORK" & then document story after story for all Americans to read. People may start airing it. Blessings
It amuses me to hear anti-gun liberals argue about interpretation. Even if they're correct about the militia, nothing changes. The words "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" remain. It's the people's right alone, not the government's to take away or restrict. By that interpretation, even authority to regulate belongs solely to the "free state," not the federal government. The Bill of Rights is intended to restrict the federal government (in favor of state's rights and individual rights), not grant that government authority or powers.
Really felt a strong uniting feeling up until the statue of liberty in the sand clip. how long it would take for that to happen, I doubt anyone would even know what it was
