Clint Eastwood Appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson - 04/03/1973 - Pt. 01 Part 02 - • Clint Eastwood Appeara... #johnnycarson #clinteastwood #thetonightshow
@@flutter1woodcraft Oh, I have seen it. It's a great movie. The movie should be a forewarning to all men who want to lead a woman on with a one night stand. Lol.
T Dunph If you have to ask then your either too young to understand ... or simply haven’t been paying attention... In which case are pretty much one and the same.
This was recorded 51 years ago now.....RIP,Johnny. So far Clint is still with us @ 90+ years of age. This is a great upload, a lot of great memories live in this.....
I'll never forget when Clint lost his cool in one of the Dirty Harry movies about a fellow S.F. detective putting ketchup on a hot dog! That clip is here on RU-vid and funny as hell in an otherwise intense movie.
Problem is in the old days you usually had to have a helluva lot of talent to become Big. When obnoxious as hell guys like Pauly Shore, and Jim Carrey, became huge you knew standards had eroded.
Thats because back then people raised their sons to be Men. Not like now days when people raise their sons to be self serving brats that grow into entitled man childs.
@@valeriesmith3218 Its not just the parents that stunt the growth in maturity in boys/men. There is a prevalent fear and deep irrational hatred for "toxic masculinity". And an agenda to emasculate men as well defeminize women, who also lack a lot of maturity, women are encouraged to be masculine and are not allowed to mature into their maternal and feminine instincts. The elite want to do away with all traditional gender roles and values, in spite of biology and natural instincts in order to decrease the growing population and degenerate our sense of love, appreciation, unity and traditional moral values among men and women. Making us easy to divide, conquer and manipulate.
Michael Roachface Hands down, you are so right about the slogan. His (Dirty Harry) soliloquy about dogcrap, said to a gloating bad guy, in an elevator, was priceless. Maybe not as polished and thought provoking as the slogan, but priceless.
Eastwood's movies had grossed over $200 Million, in 1973 money value. Thats unreal! Whats even more phenomenal he still had 50 years and counting to do more...What a real legend!!
@Cody Levinson Amen! Clint will live on forever..it just shows how the standards have deteriorated when judging true talent! God bless Mr. Clint Eastwood,a gem of a real man in a world of watered-down manhood!
@@lisadc4681 Also, notice how he crosses his legs. Like a REAL man, not some ankle crossing pussy! He must have read "The Manly Handbook". Ha. Oh wait, he's IN the Manly Handbook!
It's COMPLETELY Overlooked. His humility is why I NEVER had a problem with the violence, and supposed sexism, and racism in his films. If you pay attention, everything was Justified with "Humiliation" and Selfdeprication. I, in fact, LEARNED about those things from HIS Films.
Unfortunately most audiences today don''t have the attention span for substance. Although, podcasts are a gold mine for hearing actors having a substantial long form conversation.
@@veecee3669 letterman`s name shouldn`t be on the same page as Carson and Cabot. When they tore his set down it was thrown in the trash. Nobody wanted to save any of it for a memorial.
My mind can’t fathom a time when people didn’t go into a political meltdown on a talk show...people seems so much more classy and even talked in a more relaxed tone
I remember watching Johnny Carson late at night when I was a teenager. My Mom would always tell me not to stay up late. I am glad I did. Those were the best years of Talk shows. Very little politics. Very funny stories. Johnny would always let the guests talk. I stopped watching talk shows since then. I'm glad I grew up in that era.
nowadays the left has some really angry people that are not civil in discourse, and have extreme beliefs. back then, the left and right were much closer in what they believed than now.
Celebrities TRY to be be cool these days. And their definition of coolness is so way off anyway. I think a lot of people think rap "artists"= coolness. To me rap "artists"= acting/looking stupid. Eastwood and those like him didn't TRY to be for image reasons. They already WERE naturally cool.
Clint is such a legend. They just don't make 'em like that anymore. The world will be a sad place when he's gone, but we will always have his movies, his music and his talent. Thank you, Mr. Eastwood.
You're right.People are still trying to say those things about John Wayne, but he didn't compare to Clint.Clint has infinitely more talent and is infinitely cooler than Wayne ever was and he's supposed to be really easy to get along with.Wayne wasn't at all.
Clint is one cool cat. He's been the same guy for decades. Quiet, somewhat shy but always the Alpha in the room. Also, can we bring back the turtleneck/blazer combo? It's due for a comeback.
@Greg Rooker No argument from me on that. I've been in love with Clint Eastwood since I was in grade school. Once I actually met and spoke to him about his favorite hobby, flying, I knew I'd been right. He's got a sense of humor you wouldn't believe. He's a true Gemini man.
@Greg Rooker Clint is more than just an icon. He's witty, intelligent and has a sense of humor no one would have expected. He's a true Gemini man in every sense. It's an honor to consider him a friend. And.................he loves flying and aviation, like me.
Clint Eastwood is one of my most favorite actors 🥰 I actually know, his son, Scott Eastwood, I grew up in Hollywood CA, and he's the coolest person I've ever met.
@@chriscastillo4275 I wish all celebrities would keep their mouths shut on politics. They aren't politicians, they're actors, models, talk show hosts and social media rats. Do what you do best and stop pretending your opinion is better than everyone else's.
@@chriscastillo4275 He is one of the few that is not a member of the left wing minion group. I am guessing you don't like to hear an opposing point of view.
reignman2112 🤷🏽♂️was he one? More like I liked him before he sounded like a fucking idiot. Mind u, this has nothing to do w/the fact he makes really shitty movies now. And don’t start about them, Gran Torino and For the Love of the Game were all time shitty. If u, like him, think Barack Obama was anything other than more of the same, well than u just haven’t been paying attn for the last 30 yrs (and way before that) So if ya go on stage and say Obama came in and ruined things, well, u might be an idiot too. Sorry
@@Paul-dz7xi .... Don't know if it goes back to 1973, but at one point, Carson lent his name to a line of clothing which he wore on the show as promotion. The details, cuts, fabric patterns followed yearly style trends without going overboard for the times.
msr111 Googled it, 1969 into the 80s ! Johnny’s modeled for the ads too. Hilarious 😆 and don’t forget the “Johnny Carson Cologne and Allweather Skin Shield”😎
@@17donhol "Steve McQueen was insanely jealous of Eastwood...." And even moreso of Newman. He was obsessed with the delusion that he was the better actor.
Two absolute legends! Clint is the epitome of cool and Carson had the best late night show ever! He had more viewers than the current late night shows combined.
That is because the hosts are too busy doing lame one-sided political jokes .I used to enjoy Steve Colbert until I realized all and I mean his so-called jokes, were about President Trump and most all his guests were just people who agreed with him. It got old real quick.
True. When I was a kid and think of Hollywood, it was the kind of actor like Clint Eastwood, western movies like the good, bad and ugly, classic like Gone with the Wind. Today I prefer Japanese anime.
Johnny was the king of comedy and entertainment despite not using toilet jokes, insults, negativity, or anything else from the dark side. He was the anti-Howard Stern. Pure class.
Two absolute legends, each at the pinnacle of what they do, sitting side-by-side in front of millions and.millions of people, yet their conversation is relaxed and relatable. ..Thanks for this great clip.
"Unforgiven" came out when I was in college. I rented it one weekend, and it was so good I watched it twice. Clint Eastwood is one of the greatest of all time in Hollywood.
PC and the liberal agenda..that's what the f..k happened to Hollywood..once a great reservoir of true talent, now a swirling cesspool of brainless zombies, spineless men,and defeminized women..but wait..that's not just Hollywood, that's now our entire Godforsaken society! 🙄
I like Carson's style of interviewing in that he never stares at his guest and makes eye contact at certain points which makes the segment seem real; and also the fact that we ordinary people communicate with each other in the same way is another genius of Carson, who used this simple trick to make his audience feel at ease.
Recently went back and watched Rawhide for the first time. The episodes seemed really strange and it took me a while watching Eastwood, before l could figure out what was odd. Eastwood played Rowdy Yates with his eyes WIDE open! It seemed very odd watching the young Eastwood before the squint! And still going strong! Looking forward to your next film, Mr. Eastwood! Thanks and God Bless!
Having been a huge fan, my wife and I figured we'd travel up the Cali coast, and hit a bunch of fun spots on our honeymoon, in 1985. One spot was Clint's resturant, The Hog's Breath Inn. When seated, were excited as you might imagine, but when Clint and his female friend were seated directly next to us (for more than an hour), we could barely enjoy our meal, it was that crazy! Yeah, try to act calm, seated 6 feet away from such a star, let alone the mayor of Carmel!
my soon to be wife and I and her friend also a babe, went to the HogsBreath while weekending in Carmel, standing nonchalantly was Clint's son Kyle, I kept telling the girls go talk to him, its ok, so they did, they were walking on air for days, he was such a nice young man, he asked them about themselves, school, jobs where they live, nothing about him or his dad, class act. I am pretty sure he is the apple from Clint's tree.
I had a similar experience in the late 70s… except Clint waited on me and my future wife. Actually, he seated us and took our drinks order. He didn’t come back to our table but we did get to exchange pleasantries with him while we ordered our drinks. He could tell we were surprised at having him seat us and told us it was his day job, lol.
I went to the Hogs breath inn - an evening 25 yrs ago and waited for my greatest hero to turn up - he did not come that day - but he is still my greatest actor, director of all time
I was 12 years old and i remember seeing this episode, at that time we had 3 channels, abc, cbs, and nbc. A day meant, riding my bike, working on the yard, playing street football, doing homework, helping around the house... by 10:30pm, i was tired and watching johnny carson. Best times of my life. Had no time to be bored. I think the internet and having 1000 channels of tv ruined life. Kids of nowadays are always on their phone and saying how bored they are. Drives me nuts, the before internet times were great!!!
I used to watch every night almost. He came on at 11:30pm. I would stay up after the news on CBS, to watch most of the show, depending on guests? All groggy at work for it with 5hrs sleep or less! Like this channel bringing thise memories back. No one else could, or has, brought that quality. He set the bar.
@@juanherrera2859 Oh, I'm wrong then. I remember Christopher Frayling on the dvd commentaries of the dollars trilogy saying Eastwood never smoked. My mistake.
Good old Clint Eastwood. What an absolute legend. I remember stealing a cigarette from my parents after seeing For a Few Dollars More on taped VHS when I was like six or seven. Never got around to light it though. No one made smoking cigarillos look cooler than Clint. Kids need heroes. Too bad they don’t make them like this anymore.
Clint Eastwood..prolific man. I've seen almost every movie he's acted in or directed. I recently started watching the old Rawhide episodes and it's just amazing how handsome and sexy he was. Just turned 90 and he's still going strong. What a blessing Clint has been to the world of cinema.
@@laurenschultz9781 His sensuality comes from within plus it's a trait of all Gemini men. They can't hide it. And we fellow Gemini women KNOW and pick up on it every time. It's timeless. He may be 90, but that appeal doesn't just vanish. Stay well and keep on loving Clint Eastwood.
If I had an opportunity to meet 1 and only 1 celebrity, it would be Mr. Eastwood. IMO he's the coolest actor/writer/director to ever walk the earth. He can do action, comedy and drama. He is simply amazing. Love you Clint. You broke the mold.
Justin Oldmusician Clint has been directing since he debuted as a director with Play Misty For Me in 1971 but by Unforgiven he was in his prime as a director although he directed many films in 1970s-1990s and continues to keep busy at almost 90 years old today. As an Actor he was in prime from 1967 after The Good, The Bad and The Ugly was released in the United States making him an international star until about 1985 although he did make some good hits in the 1990s.
@@scottknode898 While I don't disagree with your assessments, I think he has matured in the last 20 or so years, as a director. He's also done his own music in many of his movies. Many people don't know that about him. Gran Torino has an underlying theme that's very strong, as does American Sniper and Richard Jewel. His choices of subject matter and story line are those only he would attempt. Although a little older, Bird is one of his favorites, because of his own jazz influences. And he went to great pains to find and use Charlie Parker's actual playing in the movie. You won't be disappointed at Eastwood's drive at perfection, in soundtrack alone. The twin WWII films, Flags of Our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima are very in-depth, with one from the Allies point of view and one from the Japanese point of view. He has really been picky on his subject matter and the quality shines through. Of course, even his more formula plot films, like Million Dollar Baby and Space Cowboys are of very high caliber. His story telling is top notch...always has been. But, it's only gotten better, with age.
@@msr1116 I liked that he was different...Cool..quiet..mysterious. Loved Robert Conrad too..Our family loved Wild Wild West-again offbeat and loved Artemis too. The fashion designers of that program made both look fantastic!
@@coryburns834 That was a great and frightening movie. The actress who played the nutcase was incredible .Stalking at it's worst!!!...and yes Clint Eastwood was fine as well a his lovely girlfriend with the amazing lue eyes.
I agree with you on that he is one of kind you'll never see or hear of a very famous actor as Clint Eastwood who has a unique character with such style and professionalism.
Clint Eastwood has a quick wit and earthy sense of humor that most Gemini men have. He's been like a "hero" since I was in 6th grade. He is the complete opposite of the character Dirty Harry. And much more like Robert Kincaid of "Bridges of Madison County." I was introduced to Clint by my late husband who was the drummer in the band hired as entertainment for the 40th birthday party for Burt Reynolds in 1977. Clint loves flying and that was the topic of conversation. I'm addicted to aviation and I'm also a Gemini who truly understands the mind of a Gemini man. They're truly worth knowing and even more as friends.
I met Clint in NYC after the Premier of BIRD. There were a bunch of people waiting for him to sign things..He came out and these guys were all over him and he aid "I just can't do this right now" and another guy wouldnt listen- kept pestering him and I looked at Clint and said "A man;s got to know his Limitations" and CLint stopped, looked at me and smiled and said "That;s right"!!!!!
Thank you for your reply. If I met Clint Eastwood, I think I would faint. We could only dream about him. I was just 6 years old when this interview was broadcast.
He has never been known to be "wordy" but he manages to get his point across regardless. Some of the best traits come from the inside. You just have to know they're there and then learn which "buttons" to push to bring them out.
Guess you haven't seen his Dirty Harry movies, only in his spaghetti Westerns he dont speak much because he played a anti hero who's gun do the talking.
How? Seriously? How can you respect a guy with like a dozen basted children from a bunch of affairs? And very public ones at that. Guy humiliated his wives and his legitimate children very publicly abandoned a bunch of others, couldn't be bothered to wrap his weiner and endangering everyone's health. I've always enjoyed his movies but as a person zero respect. Consummate loser right there. He only played a "Man" on TV. You can appreciate someone's art but have zero respect for them as a person. They're not inclusive.
Johnny Carson, a real night host that gave fans entertainment. Never pushed politics and let the guest shine more than himself (but that is what made Johnny shine even more). I miss the real men in movies, Eastwood, Wayne, Gable, Stewart and Norris. (There many more I could name)
I couldn't have said it better sir. Tonights late night show hosts are crap and mix politics with movies. True artistry ain't anything about politics and social message. it's just about the art. And also, nowadays there aren't actors like they used to be back then. Cool, macho and real men.
@@H43339 maybe you're a little right but,Norris, is a real American guy with balls. He is not a fairy actor who would show up on friends, even worse modern family. I am proud to say I never watched those shows.
