Charnwood Voices, formerly Shepshed Singers, is a mixed choir based in Charnwood, Leicestershire. Founded in 1977, the choir has gained a well-deserved reputation for performing neglected and unfamiliar music as well as better known and popular pieces, both sacred and secular.
As for many choirs, 2020 has been a challenge for us.
We have embraced technology and given virtual rehearsals a go. Unfortunately they are not the same as singing together - nothing beats making the music come alive together.
We were approached by Vista (a Leicester based charity supporting those with sight loss) to add some music to their Christmas campaign. It has been a great privilege to be able to support a local charity and at the same time show what we can do.
Michael Dobbs of Woodborough Video offered to put together a virtual performance from recordings each of us made in the Covid-safety of own our homes, and you can see the results above. You can see more of his free community videos at / @woodboroughvideo
