I want to be able to fish for fluke with my future children. As much as it sucks, we need to reduce the limit amounts and the draggers significantly or were in big trouble
I’ve shifted focus to triggers and sheepshead here in SJ. Only a handful of keepers all season and water stuck in the 50s to low 60s. We wait all year just for the season to blow away…
In my opinion the bucktail grub combo loses it’s effectiveness when drift conditions are not good, try a gulp jerk shad or shrimp on a 3/8-1/2 oz lead head ( VMC or z man with eyes ), on light spinning gear, cast and snap jig it. Nice variety, thanks.
@@duffmeister6480 I noticed you guys had some spearing and nobody was using them,I myself prefer a fresh strip bait.but I guess the mates know what there doing.
We did ok out of Mattituck last week, some of your buddies were out there too. All the fish we caught were super lethargic. Just sitting on the jig and mostly pretty slow drifts. Like you said the trolling motor can help a bit but they don't like it the same as a real drift.
Tried cape may and behind wildwood yesterday, wind was beating tide making my drifts short and in the wrong direction. It was not fun, but i was on the water, so it beat being home.
