Saltwater fishing in Eastern Long Island for fluke (summer flounder), tautog (blackfish), striped bass, sea bass, etc. and having a ton of laughs in the process. #1201645
Are you no longer in Greenport, didn’t look like it ? When you say Gardiners Bay, is that the West side or the East of Gardiners ? I get confused because a map calls the East side Block Island Sound, which is not really near Block Island ? Nice to see the fishing improving. Thanks.
Hey John.. I'd be interested in a more detailed explanation of when to use the trolling motor for fluke drift. What direction to point, how to know, what direction your line should be going, etc. I have one and this is my first full fluke season with it.. trying to figure out when is best to use it still. Thanks!
I think what makes your videos enjoyable, is not just the fishing but your commentary. Some fishing videos are boring for me, cause of no talk. You fill in the gaps with your chatter. Nice video. Louie
Incredible boat! It still amazes me how some people in this country can't afford to eat three meals a day, while others make enough to afford a boat like this. I tell my kids every single day, HARD WORK in school, internships, and eventually, at work. Otherwise you'll be putting clothes on a rack at Walmart for $15 an hour, and living in a roach infested apartment!
And let me tell you, Mike the owner is the epitome of an American dream success story. Son of a Greek immigrant whose parents stressed education who went on to law school and is a CPA to boot. More power to him I say
@@jiggingjerks As long as he doesn't work so much that he doesn't have time to enjoy the fruits of his labor. There has to be a balance, life is too short to work all the time!
Just priced out a 2024 Grady 232 Gulfstream Walkaround Cuddy twin Yam200 fully loaded with trailer SS brakes-239k at 15k for taxes….. that’s a lot of charter cash I could give a guide through out the year for many years. I’d be dead before this boat was paid off. GW top tier quality..
Once these US made hybrid drive systems in the auto sector start migrating into the World of boating the change in a positive way for the Industry could be truly stunning especially if becomes diesel electric actually. Caterpillar and John Deere are making small diesel engines now that are so good as to be a boaters *DREAM* right now let alone the gasoline variety. Plus can use as a power back up for House and Home so no, not interested at all in current vessel product especially given current prices and what we know already exists for example with the Ford F150 Hybrid pickup truck. Amazing to watch commodity prices start to plunge to zero again actually.
@@mikeknottscreek8183 agree but just to be clear, he’s worked very hard for every penny. His dad was an immigrant from Greece and Mike went to law school and worked long hours to get to where he is in life :)
@@jiggingjerks that's a great story. Just getting through Law or Medical school is above my ability. But I've been self employed for 45 years and just retired so I can use my boat more.
John, last week on your podcast you discussed windfinder and windy apps, can you do a quick discussion about them concerning the wave predictions tonight ? I haven’t been out in a while and wanted to try tomorrow in the Sound, they’re predicting 2.5 every 8 seconds, has it been that wavy this past week? Do you find them to be accurate ? That’s certainly not ideal for my 18’ boat ? Thanks. PS that was crazy fast !
It's seems like the fluke fishing is a real grind this year it doesn't matter if it's block or mountauk ya just have to believe the fish are there and GRIND it out till you eventually get em .
The bite has been so weird so far this year 😭 I was up your way yesterday too. You’d be proud of me made it back to Philly in 5 hours on a Sunday afternoon 🤣
Fish outgoing tide? I'm taking an out-of-town friend out tomorrow for a few hours so think I'll pass on Point. Did you try bucktails as well as eels for stripers? Boat looks great.
Very odd that they would stop and board someone while they're running a charter. Generally, in the northeast, they hit hard in May and June when people first hit the water looking for obvious safety issues with vessels at the beginning of the boating season, then spend the rest of the summer looking for impairment. Florida (FWC) is probably the worst in the country for aggressively and needlessly hassling boaters and anglers (see literally hundreds of videos on YT as reference) but in contrast, I have to say the folks that boarded you seemed quite nice. Delaware (DNREC) is probably the 2nd worst. The conservation police know where the poaching goes on, it's not on a private charter with a guy running GoPro. These stops don't accomplish anything real for conservation. Hit the bad guys, not the good guys.
