In 2016 which now seems a million years ago, I paddled the YRQ in a kayak I built myself. There was so much to tell, but it was for me just after the last checkpoint at 60 mile with the home stretch ahead that I hit a gravel bar and struggled to pry myself off that damned thing. It took what was left out of me and the real hallucinations kicked in. I suddenly realized the only people still on the river behind me were the guys in the support boat urging me on to Dawson. I made the finish with a bit of time to spare, coming in dead last. But I earned every km. I had not listened to others advice and was paddling with a very heavily laden kayak. 8 years later and I am still processing the amazing events my mind, body and spirit endured under the midnight sun. On my deck bag was embroidered, 'Just Keep Paddling'. So that was what I did, That in the end was all any of us seeking the finish line could do.

For someone with no experience in editing you did an awesome job. Love this! At the time you were out there you couldn't imagine the times we would go through now. This is very inspiring and keeps me motivated and hopeful for upcoming season. Thanks Chris for putting all the time and effort in making this very nice edit!

I paddled it at a much more leisurely pace. (10 days) Beautiful trip but not sure I would be up for the sleep deprived marathon. Nice job on the video.

Thank you for documenting your Yukon River experience. It is a true manual for me, that I want to do this race ... I still have many doubts about how to get to such a remote place with a 14-foot Racer ... and a lot more doubts ... but I am organizing to register for the Yukon River ... honestly the first time I saw your documentary, I was afraid to take this test ... I have already seen at least a dozen, to convince myself that it is possible ... congratulations and all my respect for such a journey. .. I was in Sup 11 City Tour in 2019 ... you ran in Non Stop ... you are crazy ... and I also want to be one of these crazy men ¡¡¡

cheers Dan! I look back at this with rose tinted glasses even though it reminds me how much I suffered. I'm heading back next year so I'll definitely be doing it again (four-man canoe team this time). I just looked at the 2022 registration page and saw you grabbed the 149th spot out of 150 teams right before it filled up, good on you! Look forward to having some sourtoe cocktails with you in Dawson

@paddlermedia

Cheers Pat! Thanks for watching. The drone hero was Trevor Tunnington (@trev_sup) who logged some serious miles sitting on the back of a freezing cold boat all night 😅
