One thing I liked about the candidate Vivek was that he called out the CDC, EPA etc as being illegitimate 4th branches of government that are ruling over us and our industries with policies that ONLY kill progress in the west.
I’m retired from this now five years ago and I knew then these junk micro channel coils on 410A systems were going to be a problem. The manufacturers should have installed receivers but it’s all about the dollars saved.
Receivers would be nice. I think that part of the sill EPA ratings etc is total (minimal) refer charge and microchannel allows a bit less. A few years back I saw some 5 and 6 ton Trane Precident units with microchannel condenser and evaporator coils and they held something like 4 Lbs of R410!
As far as I know. I do have word that Comfortlink is going away in these units for some PIC (or whatever it is called) that has been used in higher end Carrier chillers.
