Big Norfolk Southern Grain Train Passing 3 Different Railroad Crossings! Both Sides Of Same Train! Chasing a train in Findlay, Ohio on the Norfolk Southern main line with Millenniumforce and Quacky Louie. We were filming trains in Fostoria and Deshler and chased this train just for the fun of it. The first railroad crossing was interesting the way it was set up so that one of the gates didn't lower depending on which track a train came down. Since I filmed this I found another crossing just like it near Miamisburg, Ohio. Norfolk Southern and CSX parallel each other here for a short distance. This video was made with my camera that was new at the time. I did something weird and had the settings messed up and too much light was added. I have fixed that but it is my number 3 backup camera at the moment so it doesn't get used much. This is another long lost video that I found. I found a bunch of them that I forgot about. This was filmed June 12, 2021.

Every time I see a unit train I think of John Knieling (The Professional Iconoclast) from Trains magazine who advocated for each train carrying only one product. Back in the '70s when railroads were dying off he figured one of the biggest problems was dwell time in yards where cars would dissapear for weeks or months at a time. John would be astounded at how railroads have adopted his philosophy. Great video JT and thanks for the chase.

I pass that first crossing every week. Back when I was a driver for NS, I dropped crews there all the time. They like to use it as a crew change point with that big gravel section in the middle. Glad to see you up in my neck of the woods!

The middle gate does not come down so cars won’t get trapped if they are passing the first gate. The other gate for the other track does come down to keep cars from getting trapped between the two main lines.

Ok. Your new camera does a great job...the video is sharp and clear, the zoom works better in that it doesn't zoom in intervals but smoothly. I would say that the colors are almost too bright. Maybe change the f stop to get a little more color. One man's honest opinion.

Love the new camera but just turn down the brightness or increasec the tint slightly and it's perfect. Also I love when you do the "ah but wait there's more" in that trench coat. Don't know why but I always get a good laugh out of it

Great catch ! Live action at those crossings - wide open spaces in that area, with farm fields growing produce and looking good. Keep that gatorade handy on hot days.

Truly a uniform train in terms of carbody style and only 3 or 4 had the Horsehead emblem. Some mighty wide streets in Findlay as the locals no doubt swung wide of the you tube mobile wondering who was invading their town. Even Chessie had her ears pinned back!

Planting is late this year in northern Ohio. It's been so wet and now dry. At least those beans look reasonably healthy :) I like that crossing in Findlay - a nice angle for viewing :)

That last crossing IS very unusual. There's a crossing in New Jersey where I used to live like this-quadrant gates in a town called Berkeley Heights. NJ Transit. If I remember correctly that line had overheard wires. Very good video, made my morning. Have a nice day😊

That's correct, this is on the Gladstone Branch where there is an intersection, hence the quad gates. I worked this branch on one of my assignments before I bid to a Port Morris assignment. The Gladstone branch is electrified territory 25KV AC.

Well that was interesting, I though it was a good picture until you said it was 4K and I clicked over to that on my computer it was like POW the picture got mega clear and the sound even improved. The depth of field is amazingly clear on the long shot of the hoppers cars, I was like WOW !! 👍 👍 Seemed like the color was a little washed out, but still a really nice camera !! Super awesome video !! 👍 👍 👍

I live near here and this line doesn’t get much action but the CSX line through there is the CSX Toledo Branch which goes behind my aunts house in Van Buren Ohio and it is a nice place to railfan.

Unusual crossing for sure. There's a main line here that crosses a county rd. twice and depending on which direction and how long, you may have to wait on the phantom caboose twice. Great video, new camera 📷 👌. Your videos are awesome as usual.

I believe the Findlay -- Fostoria area is the southern extreme of Glacial Lake Whittlesey. That's why there's fewer hills there than what you might find on a pancake. It's all old lake bottom. I live near the other side, on what would have been the north shore. Driving west on the 401 towards Detroit from just past London, Ontario it's the same flat land. The two hours to Detroit from here is an infamously boring drive. Great land for growing, skiing not so much.

It's nice to see engine conductor give you a sloute of horn three times. Your new camera work great, it pick up lights and bells, and it brings out true colors of engines and cars , I give this camera a 10 over your other ones. Love it and getting hacklers by other train buff.
