I love it. The MT-09 guys look like they're really working it in the corners, and the KTM is turning effortlessly... to the point of being bored so he has to throw in a few wheelies...
Hey mate I am the guy who is on MT-9 at front row. I wasnt working hard as you think. I rode it as much as the road let it do and it is not my personal limit. I didn't want to a take risk. after all, it is a public and village road we could come across an animal or parked tractor. I wouldn't use the advantage of being at last row like 690 at that time. xD
I owned both. The 690 isn't turning in effortless as you think, it has big trail and a very light front end, its more fun to ride but to beat those MT09s you would need more than a relaxed ride. Clearly our 690 rider here isnt taking it too hard
@@donkeizluv Yes, I wasn't trying to criticize the MT09 guy, I was just thinking how I always thought the road bikes were far superior to the Supermotos, but the supermotos do a pretty good job of keeping up.
Well done, crazy! :D I've got two quick questions? Somewhy I really like the camera position, where do you mount it? Is it like on the chest? And which camera are you using if I can know? Thanks!!
there's no wrong choice between the two. I've owned two 690s, and they're special. A civilized supermoto, they maintain that "supermoto" feel unlike some imitators. They thrive on aggressive riding - braking hard into corners, throttle on exit. Fun, but not for a smooth, chill ride. On the other hand, the MT-09 is a blast. The CP3 engine is perfect, and the 2021-2023 models are overall almost perfect naked bikes. Comfortable, great quickshifter, great sound and that torque! It may lack little bit precision, but it's still amazingly fast and fun. Currently, I ride a 1290 Super Adventure S as I've reserved my aggressive riding for off-road with my dirtbike, preferring a more laid-back approach on the road. It's a powerful and comfortable bike, though big bikes does temper the confidence a bit, especially for an average rider like myself. Unlike the spirited antics of a 690, it's not prompting me to attempt stupid wheelies out of every corner.
Without db killer the bike lost a litte on top end. I have one too but still didnt ride it because i am legalizing it. I am curious to know how the bike feels.
@@MotoExploring A lot smoother compared to my old 2016 smc-r, much more linear throttle response and almost no vibrations. Bike feels nimble and light, everybody who has rode my bike surprised by how light and nimble it felt to them. Almost like an exc just a bit heavier. All these stuff gives you confidence to do things like back it in or wheelie outs etc.I didn’t ride anything more fun than this bike especially on roads like this. It’s easy to ride too, electronics keeps you safe while giving you some room to have fun (TC is on all of my videos for instance) I’ve installed ktm’s rear brake abs cancellation dongle a bit expensive for what it is but I think worth it. You can back it in and do stoppies (I’m not great at them tbh) thanks to dongle while keeping front abs on. Power wise, yup feels a little bit gutless compared to something like mt09 but except this video (I wasn’t actually riding in my full potential here because of the mental pressure from a recent accident I witnessed) keeping up with big bikes (1290, mt10 etc.) easy. TBH, This bike can go a lot faster then I can ride it. Great brakes, really easy to wheelie, can take a lot of damage. Feels really great overall, no regrets so far Only problem I had was a little bit moisture on speedo time to time which didn’t caused any issue actually. KTM changed speedo under guarantee.
@@goonkem I had a crf450x and was the most fun thing I got but lots of care and was I repairing it. Then a MK1 mt-09 reflashed and was not smooth at all because the reflash was to get just power. Changed to the mt07, loved the bike, already had 3 and with quick shift, ohlins cartridges and hyperpro shock, basically with a bunch of extras. The engine is perfect but I prefer supermoto riding position and in the mt07's with "racing" suspensions the bike was hard in the rural roads. Now i will try the 690. I have a Bluetooth obd connected to a old smartphone to see the rpm and temperature, because of that I can't connect a dongle at the same time. Subscribe my channel and you will see 690 videos soon.
@@MotoExploring subbed already, nice videos keep them coming. I was thinking getting a mt07 and upgrading suspensions etc. but I prefer upright sm/mx riding position too and with all those upgrades it was costing almost same with a new 690. Dreamed of converting specialized bike to sm but I need to do a lot of mileage to get my riding places that wouldn’t work with those bikes. You should check out CUMPAN cockpit assistant small but great looking plug and play rpm engine heat etc. monitor for 690. I’m thinking of getting one of these.
@@goonkem Holy shit. I was practising in 1st gear just to search for a balance point with traction ON but in mode 2 thinking it will save me from looping. Next time i try searching for balance point with extra caution. Thanks!
@@IIFaDedII haha, I should practice for balance point as well. these are just power wheelies. However there been I few times I felt I was going backwards even though my throttle off at mode 2 so I wouldn't trust it. (Not any in this video)
@@goonkem Welp mode 2 is such BS that still i cannot explain. I just remembered that i did lift front wheel while riding in mode 2 with TC on above 110 kmh and even managed to find old footage of it.
I’ve got pirelli 50/50 tires on and they seem to grip really well pushing pretty hard on the road . I’m booked in for pirelli Diablo 4s to push much harder again . Leave traction control on and push within youre limits
well i wouldnt trust doing nothing like that on a road full of dirt but well nice bike im about to sell my z900 to get one, isnt it too heavy and big ?
Yup, unfortunately road conditions are not great here in Istanbul. Compared to something like z900 it’s much more lighter but if you are comparing it something like a exc450 it’s heavier. I didn’t get an exc because I need to ride 60-70km on autobahn to get my riding places.
@@goonkem i was thinking of getting a 450exc but the problem is that I kinda want to daily the bike to work it's like around 20km 5 days a week, and I kinda know that they made for track and not kilometers and kinda scares me a bit of having to rebuild the motor around every 150 hours
@@gabrielgama4061 they usually lasts a lot more than 150 hours (300-350 hours even) but you need to make oil changes every 10 - 15 hours, you need to do valve adjustment at 50ish hours etc. and they are not comfortable compared to 690. A lot more vibration, no quickshifter, no tcs. I would get a 690 if I was planning to use it as my daily. Perfect for your need imho. 450 would be more fun to ride though.
Sketchy as. You're riding this like a heavy unresponsive sports bike. Few suggestions: pick wider entries and exits, commit to your line and adjust less mid corner, carry your throttle through the corner building speed all the way through rather than snapping it open on exit, and for the love of god turn the abs off, it will throw you in a ditch through the twisties. These things are weapons, you should have been a lot quicker through the turns then the mt09s. Ride safe 🤙
Hey, just saw, thanks for your comment! I just wanted to clarify a few things. Firstly, I wasn't intentionally trying to ride faster than the other riders as it was just a fun group ride and not a race. I was doing stupid stuff just for fun. Secondly, the road conditions where I ride aren't great, with dirt and surface problems that don't show up on camer. So, picking a line mostly depends on the surface. Lastly, I wanted to note this bike has a new ABS system that uses a 5-axis IMU. It doesn't reduce braking performance as much as older systems. It's even possible to do a little stoppie into corners with ABS engaged. The braking sound you heard was actually from the rear wheel as I was just having some fun. I’m not saying I’m a fast rider. I’m just a goon having fun most of the time but I would appreciate if you can check out my track video where I was intentionally trying to go faster.
