This is my Chauvet Obey40 light controller tutorial. I go through each of the buttons and ports on the controller. This is more of an informative basic tutorial than it is a highly technical one.
There is no demonstration, because it would not make sense. Your light fixtures may all have different controls associated with them. Consult the manual for information on what channel controls what function on your fixture. Have fun!

I just picked up a couple elation design spots and just wondering if this controller would be able to run them

if they operate via DMX cable they should be able to be chained together and run from this controller. You do have to set the individual lights addresses or they will all operate on 1 (or whatever they're set to when you get them).

I am using a Chauvet Obey 40 for a wedding band setup. I am triggering scenes via midi. My question relates to chases. I have 6 chases programmed in the Obey 40. I can call them up using midi notes. But I can no work out how to start them without pressing the auto button on the controller. And if I heave it on, when I return to scenes, they continue to scroll. If there a command to start a chase? Thanks, Andrew

the closest thing I could find is the midi map on page 32 of the manual, where you can map chases 1-6 to 120-125 and blackout to 126. Sorry MIDI mapping is a bit of a mystery to me since I've never done it myself.

Sorry for such a basic question (I’m a noob): can a single scene have lights that are programmed for different colors? Can I turn on three different lights with different colors at the same time?

Depends on the lights. I've found some lights have a setting to keep their last DMX address. The ones I was using had it on by default, and it worked with this controller. In another project I'm in, the lights don't keep their last settings even after i reconfigured, so you're Mileage may vary
