Awesome price. I suspect you'd get back that investment when sold at at a later date. I'd get them to machine/polish the lip of that alloy, which is much cheaper then getting new ones. Also, get them to guarantee rust bubbles, if it appears a year or two after repaint....kinda put the pressure on them to do a good job, even if it'll cost a few hundred more. It's hard to get those 80s 90s car back to newish condition, but well worth it, since the best drivers car were built in that time period.

If I had a house and garage i'd definetely buy that... It's a perfect project. I would restore that if I were you. I would have a shop cut away all the rust and just do a crazy widebody kit, and do a crazy high revving EJ setup... ok that's all in my dreams... but I don't have a house or garage :( hopefully one day. I just sold my 2017 WRX STI and my 2019 Type R is now my daily driver. Kind of missing the Subaru launches but the Type R is definetely a better car. I found that the more I drive the Type R the better I get at "launching" the car. Type R actually hooks pretty well if the ground is warm and dry. I think the problem I had with my STI is that the chassis/body got to big and advanced yet the engine was still a dinosaur, seats in the STI I also found to be horrible... my STI was also burning oil like mad... probably early ringland failure i'm kind of glad it's gone from that standpoint.

Have had my bugeye for 19 years. Same condition. Damn salt. I’m torn with having 280k on it. I cannot fathom parting with it though.

Dude fun fact that front grill is an STI grill all one piece. Mine is the stock one and the black insert is actually a separate piece from the two plastic pieces that form up to the headlights Edit: On second thought I think that's actually one from an 04 or 05 wrx

Hi I'm also restoring a Bugeye however mine is bone stock, we can do this man just gotta remember how much rally heritage these cars actually have they are at the top of their class it's totally worth it especially now that these cars are becoming difficult to find. If theres a list of 2000's sports cars that are worth restoring the Bugeye is surely on it

definitely check out the rear subframe, those things rust and get holes in them, also checkout subiesavers.com for the rear quarter panels. check the trunk area too and peel back the covers to see if the rust went through. if everything is good, its worth saving, if its rusted through, dont do it.

Fixed up with the right tires and suspension (and the obvious missing/broken parts underneath the hood) that car would be more fun off road than anyone one of your Hondas on asphalt. Use it as an off road car don’t fix it up and drive it on the road, it’s just another four wheel road car, boring!

buy a normal subaru with no rust and swap everything
