Wow finally someone who actually shows how to opensource tune an old WRX. Thank you! I'm swapping a JDM EJ205 into my 05 GD wagon, already flashed it with ecuflash and I've got everything up and running, this was very helpful. All the Facebook groups just say "go read!". Yeah yeah I read the forums, which are dead, I need to see it :)
this is the best way bar none. no modern shop is going to want to touch an old ej205 swap and 16bit ecu. Shops told me to go stand alone, they wanted to live flash. I said forget it and learned carberry on my own and running mafless speed density jdm avcs ej205. life is good. for forums, head to romraider. ``````Remember you need the clips for test mode and the 12v flashblock so ur 12v doesn't run low and the ecu can actually flash
This such a nice and informative video. I am currently self tuning my 04 STi, using ECU Flash. Got my MAF and Fueling down to within 1% for idle and cruise. Now moving on to WOT pulls and boost with a target of about 17-18 PSI. I really enjoy looking at your laptop screen and having you talk to the camera as to what your thought process is, it really helps. Thank you! 🙏🏾
Good stuff! I did mine last year, now have a misfire that im fighting so doing the tgv delete and cylinder 4 cooling mod while I have it apart. swapped plugs, nope, swapped coil packs, nope, swapped injector, nope, valve lash is kinda tight but not closed, cold leak down test passed. I really don't know what else, looking into fuel pressure again next.
From my experience the fourth-cylinder is always most problematic. And it does run the hottest without the cooling mod. Is misfiring at idle or under load? I would check compression in all cylinders as well.
@@NovichenkoWhips It's actually cylinder 1, it's a 6k miles stage 1 longblock from IAG. It's always had some minor roughness counts. I put all new coils and plugs and coil pack connectors hoping to fix it, and the ground wire mod connecting all the main engine parts. I was midning my own at 2500 rpm cruising and it just dropped it. I pulled over and reset the ecu and restarted, still doing it. I light throttled it home. Now I'm stumped. I'm going to swap a couple valve bucket shims on the exhaust side to loosen them.0015 more in case there is some overlap causing air leak there. Once it's back together I will do the compression test, but thats where im at on it now
Dope video man! what part of washington are you in? im up in the arlington area, ive got a white 2012 wrx hatch ive been working on so some of your info has been helpful! Just finished the breakin on my new shortblock now i just gotta fix a few little issues before i get a tune. I just got my tactrix cable so i gotta figure out how to get that all set up as well lol
Yeah, I’m near Mount Vernon! Following the set up instructions for ECUflash and RomRaider are pretty straightforward as long as you get all the latest definitions from the forums. 👍🏻 Happy to connect for a tune in the near future if you want!
@@NovichenkoWhips oh awesome so you are not too far from me! Definitely that would be super cool, its always easier to talk to someone in person about stuff especially lol
Hey bro quick question i have a sti with a built block its only done around 30k miles since then its been sitting for nealry 4 years and has not been cranked over or started up I just refreshed a whole lot of parts etc fuel sysytem, turbo ive gone rotated so everything new. I also done suspension. Will she be rough on first start up im abit nervous and i hope the block is ok after sitting so long🙈
Try to oil prime it before startup. Pull the full pump fuse and/or ignition fuse and crank it for 5-10 seconds for few intervals waiting between for starter to cool down.
